JACK S STALL 7-15 The 2015 Competitive Trail Ride is now history. Everyone seemed to have an enjoyable weekend. No major accidents which is a good thing. I never thought that I would say that I was glad to be stung by irate bees but I was able to do so on Friday. I was checking the electrical outlet boxes along the road that the competitors use to get out of camp and to come back into camp. I opened one cover and a swarm of irate bees attached the back of my right hand. I am so glad that the bees were taken care of before any horses or riders were stung. That probably would not have turned out very well. A big thank you to Ride Manager Patricia Vance and all of the volunteers who pitched in doing all of the things needed to make this event successful. Thank You! The MOHC State Ride is taking shape. It is August 14, 15, 16. The tent set up will be Thursday afternoon. We will set up both the old and the new tent, move the tables, benches and other stuff needed for the ride from the garage to Robinson Field and make sure that everything is ready to go. Set up helpers may camp Thursday evening. Please send in your reservations as soon as you know that you wish to come. The MOHC work session with CVNP will be August 8, 2015. We are finally having a work session on our regular weekend which is the second weekend of the month. I don t know what the project will be but I will send out an email when I know more. There will be camping at Robinson Field for the work session volunteers. You do not need to have a horse in order to camp. The Gibby Memorial Ride and Work Week is coming up the first weekend in August at Barkcamp State Park near Belmont, Ohio. Some of us will be setting up on Tuesday July 28 th and then doing horse camp and trail work on Wed., Thurs. and Friday. We will have a worker appreciation dinner Thursday evening. Saturday evening we will have a huge potluck, give out the Gibby award and have a band. It is always a very nice event. The Horseman s Camp is named after Mr. Gibson who helped create the bridle trails at Barkcamp State Park. A Fun and Fellowship Day Ride is on the calendar for July 25 th. If anyone has ride idea let me know and we will get the word out to the membership. Come on folks, think of a place and we will meet and have a fun ride followed by a trail-gait lunch. Thought of the month: Where ever man has left his footprint in his long ascent from barbarism to civilization, we will find the hoof print of a horse beside it. ~ John Trotwood Moore May your equine be with you as you traverse the trails of life.
