ITINERARY DAY 1: USA / COSTA RICA Travel by plane to Costa Rica. Your local Forum Tour Manager will greet you at the airport upon your arrival. Transfer to La Guácima de Alajuela, a small village 18 miles northwest of San José, capital of the country. In this authentic town, people speak only Spanish and the families preserve the real tico lifestyle and enjoy hosting foreigners. Dinner at the hotel with your group and Forum Tour Manager. DAY 2: SAN JOSE CITY TOUR Head to San Jose for a guided city tour. See some of the most popular attractions such as the Plaza de la Cultura (the Main Square & focal point) and Plaza de Democracia (the famous flea market) practice your Spanish by bargaining with the local vendors. Have lunch at a local restaurant. Visit the Museo del Oro The collection dates from when the new world was discovered by Christopher Columbus and the artifacts range from simple round earrings to intricately worked representations of local animals, all made from gold! Dinner and overnight accommodations at El Rancho Lodge (or similar). DAY 3: SCHOOL VISIT / LA PAZ WATERFALL This morning, have the opportunity to visit a local school; spend some time with local students in Costa Rican public school. Why not lace up your shoes and challenge your new friends to a futbol match? Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Later, head to La Paz Waterfalls Be delighted at the five waterfalls that line the trail of the park and visit the Butterfly Observatory, Hummingbird Garden, Serpentarium, Frog Exhibit, Tica House, Trout Lake and the bird watching areas. DAY 4: DOKA COFFEE TOUR / COOKING CLASS Stop at Doka coffee plantation. Breathe in the aroma of freshly roasted Arabica coffee beans as the production cycle from seed to roasting plant comes alive before you. Lunch with your group. This afternoon, learn how to make some local recipes from a tico chef in a cooking class. DAY 5: GRECIA AND SARCHI VILLAGE / ARENAL Enjoy a tour through Grecia, famous for its unique metal church.

DAY 7: TORTUGA ISLAND After breakfast, transfer to Puntarenas. Board your catamaran and cruise the calm waters of the Gulf of Nicoya on your way to the beautiful white sandy beaches of Tortuga Island. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. Spend the day with relaxation at the beach, where you can swim and go snorkeling. Dinner and night accommodation at Rancho Lodge or similar.
