I-35 Corridor Planning - continued Approximately 36% of Texans (9.7 million) and 42% of Texas jobs (4.7 million) are located in the 21 counties along the corridor Anticipated 82% increase in population to over 17 million and 77% increase in employment to over 8 million jobs by 2040 In 2015, 20 of the 100 most congested roadway segments in Texas were on I-35. Annual freight tonnage expected to increase to over 100 million by 2040 on I-35 between Laredo and the Metroplex. 4

I-35 Statewide Corridor Plan Proposed development strategy for I-35 over the next 25 years. Needs-based plan focused on congestion relief. Identifies $25.6 billion in additional projects beyond those currently fully funded in the 2016 Unified Transportation Program. Implementation of these projects will result in 6 or more lanes by 2040. 28
