A Publication of Central Oklahoma Classic Chevy Club May 2008 MORE FROM THE AUTO SHOW Due to the editor s mistake of hurrying thru the publication of the April issue of The Dashboard, this was inadvertently left out. This probably is the most important picture that was taken during the Auto Show. Annette I am not sure that you can use this photograph of Rodney searching for more bubblegum. I also observed him looking under the benches. Poor guy (The editor is not responsible for the above caption) As those of us who were there to pick up our cars, we noticed that Rodney was doing a wonderful job of getting the bubblegum up from the floors. Good Job, Rodney!! tom IMPORTANT MEETING LOCATION CHANGE INFORMATION ON PAGE 7. PLEASE READ! 1

TWO PAT S BARBEQUE Members enjoyed a free meal from Two Pat s Barbeque on Saturday, April 26, 2008. The membership had attended a show at Duffner Park, Oklahoma City, put on by the Village Lion s Club in September of 2007. We had the most members there at the show and won a club participation award of the free meal. What a deal!! We have always enjoyed Two Pat s Barbeque at other shows, so it was great to meet them and enjoy a meal with them. The two Pat s are Pat Harrington Sr. and Jr. And they do lay out a good spread of food. Below see the Prez, Mel with his hot dog in hand getting ready to shake the hands of Pat Harrington Sr, Bob Austin, Pat Harrington Jr. The Village Lion s Club is putting on their 3rd Annual car show at Duffner Park on Saturday, September 13, 2008. It would be prudent for all members to put this date on their calendars as the show to attend this year. The park is located East of May on Hefner Road in the Village. Those members in attendance at the Two Pat s Barbeque are as follows: Ken & Peggy Buchanan, Tracy & Irene Bugg, Rudy & Gloria Escalera with their granddaughters, Jamie and Hannah, Chris & Susan Grove and their grandson, Mel Harris, Fred Hensley, Tom & Teresa Linn, Joe & Donna McIninch, Larry & Annette Myers, True & Sherry Osborn, Harold Parker and Sharon, Mike and Betty Rhoades, Mike and Carole Smith and Curtis & Kay Welch. The classics in attendance at the Two Pat s Barbeque were plentiful. It was a beauti- 2

ful day for the cars to be shown. Thanks to the Two Pat s and the Village Lion s Club for a wonderful meal. CENTRAL OKLAHOMA CLASSIC CHEVY CLUB Minutes for April 13, 2008 Meeting called to order at 3:05 p.m. by President, Mel Harris at Coit's Drive In. In attendance were twenty-seven club members. Mel led the club members in the Pledge of Allegiance. * Peggy gave treasurers report. Rustyne made motion to accept, Rudy seconded, motion carried. * Gloria made a correction to the March minutes. Part of a paragraph was missing: Correction: Mel asked all members to really think about whether the members want to continue meeting at Coit's or find a new location. We are growing. He will come back to this subject in a few months, so please think about this and if you have any suggestions be ready to share. * Our new sign-in sheet now has a place for you to mark an X only if you have driven your classic car to any club functions. This will entitle you to earn points towards winning 50/50 pot. (quarterly) * An update list of our club membership information was passed around. Corrections were to be made if needed. * New members David and Louise Main were introduced to the club. David attended our March meeting while Louise had to work. * Annette announced that Sharon Stowe from Eckler's Classic Chevy Club donated 100 name badges and lanyards to our club. Thank you very much Sharon * We received a Thank You letter from OHRA for helping at the NSRA SW National. Mel passed the letter around so members could read it. 3

* After Mel's research of Teresa's yellow Cadillac to be considered a classic, it was approved. * Classic Chevy National Show being held in Albuquerque, NM on June 19-22, 2008, has about eight club members attending. If you would like to join them let them know and make plans. Larry, Rodney, True, Mel and Rudy * Dinner Cruise...April 26, 2008. Two Pats is hosting this dinner for us. We will meet at Coit's at 2:15 p.m. we will leave at 2:30 p.m. We will go to Duffner Park. East of May Ave. on Hefner Rd. 1/2 block east on Hefner. * Most of use will be in Guthrie on May 10. So we will not have a dinner cruise for May. Mike and Betty Rhoades will be host to our June dinner cruise. * Meeting place for Guthrie...meet at Braum's in Edmond on 15th. 1301 W. I 35 Frontage Rd. at 8 a.m. we will leave at 8:15 a.m. Annette made a motion, members carried, passed. * Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to all in April. * Annette Myers gave tech tips. She explained how she packs her luggage and carries an over night bag. She also shared how important it is to her to help Larry clean the car when they are traveling and showing their classic in a car show. She explained that by her cleaning the windows, carpet, picking up papers or trash, taking out chairs, blankets etc. gives Larry an opportunity to focus on other things. Annette said that many men have asked Larry "How do you get your wife to help you clean your car?" Annette says that do to the cars being both theirs it is her duty to help. Working as a team has been very rewarding to them in receiving high marks. * Joe McIninch will give tech tips for next meeting * Rodney asked the club if anyone was interested in having their classic inspected by OHRA. Some members said yes, so Rodney is going to set this up and let us know when this will take place. * Annette Myers and Ken Buchanan won Door Prizes. 50/50 $28. won by someone (sorry) * Ruby can drive now and is looking for someone to drive her car to Nashville, Tennessee. Please contact Mel if you can help. Meeting was adjourned at 3:43 p.m. Gloria Escalera, Secretary 4

Here are the directions I have for getting to that location. Take the second Guthrie exit as you are heading north on I-35 and then turn left. Keep traveling west until the four lanes change back into two lanes. At this point, turn north (right) and travel about one block to the park. Remember: Bring drinks, covered dish and/or dessert to go with meal from Two 7 Pat s.
