Officers, Board Members, Committee Chairs Visit us on the web at www.tulsamodela fordclub.com Hello everyone, I am sure everyone is enjoying this beautiful fall weather. It is a great time to get your Model A out for a drive. September has been a very busy month with a Club event 4 of 5 weekends. Thanks to Linda and Marvin for an excellent tour of the Muskogee/Wagoner area. Play Day was a huge success thanks to Harold Helton for your planning and organizing the games. Thanks also to those who arranged for the food. The Tulsa Fly In at Bartlesville was a lot of fun seeing vintage airplanes that are the same vintage as our Model A s is quite a beautiful sight to see. Thanks Ken Brust for arranging this trip. Our fall tour with the Oklahoma City Club is coming up October 18. We will rendezvous in Bixby at the Sutherland s parking lot at 8:45 to caravan to McAlester together. November 3 breakfast will be at Mark s Place in Coweta. After breakfast, Margret Soper has organized a poker run in the Wagoner area. I am sure this will be a lot of fun, and we will finish up at Baker s Catfish Restaurant for lunch. Our annual chili supper and fund raiser is coming up Nov 16 th. Be thinking about some items to bring to the auction. Cash would be most beneficial. The Club has been asked by First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow at 161 st St and Elm St, to bring some cars to an Adoption Party through DHS Saturday, October 13 th from 10 am to 2 pm. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served. There will be approximately 100 kids up for adoption and about 200 prospective parents in attendance. This is not a Club sponsored event, but you may be well rewarded. May the Ford be with you, Don October Rumble Sheet - Volume 46 - Volume 10 Page 1

OSU Thanksgiving Buffet Just a reminder to mark the OSU Thanksgiving Buffet in Okmulgee on you calendar for November 15. All the food is prepared by the OSU Culinary college. It's a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some of the finest eating available. Plus another chance to get those Model-A's out for an enjoyable drive thru the country side. Details of departure times & location plus reservation requirements will be in the November Rumble Sheet newsletter. Visit to Clear Creek Monastery Poker Run and Lunch Notice the November 3rd breakfast is followed by a Poker Run and lunch at Baker's Restaurant. The Poker Run will be around the Coweta and Wagoner areas and includes some interesting stopping places. It will be followed by lunch at Baker's Catfish restaurant on Hwy 69 (just south of Wagoner). Another opportunity to get those Model-A's out and enjoy the fall weather and scenery. 2012 Spring Tour Completed The 2012 Spring Tour was finally completed September 7. As you may recall it was cancelled for April 14-15 due to severe weather predictions. It was reduced to one day and several events omitted. This time the weather cooperated even though a little hot. Everyone seemed to enjoy the Batfish submarine, Atola Indian museum, Clear Creed Monastery, Western Hills Lodge breakfast and Amish restaurant lunch. Plus the 160 plus miles of beautiful Green Country roads and scenery. There were 9 Model-A s and one 1947 Ford driving the tour. Members were Rich & Donna Robinson, Bob & Margret Soper, Ken & Tory Brust, Teresa Wilkerson, Don & Jesse Reed, Harold & Virginia Helton, Roy & Barbara Cail, Kent & Jeanie Washburn, Linda Ochs, Jerry Conrad, and Marvin & Linda Mellage. Nuts & Bolts (or Miscellaneous Tidbits!) by Ken Brust We had a very nice Spring Make-up Tour on a Friday with 9 Model A s and Teresa s 47 Ford. (Her Model A was in Ralph s shop for major engine work!) It was nice to see Harold and Virginia driving their new, 31 slant windshield, Rosemary. They bought Lindell s car so it is nice to see that it has stayed in the club. The day was full of scenic routes and fun stops. Many thanks to Marvin and Linda Mellege, Jerry Conrad and Linda Ochs for organizing everything. Never assume that these tours just happen by themselves. There are always many hours spent beforehand making sure of the mileage, good routes with many interesting stops and places to eat. Be sure to thank this group who did an excellent job. The weather was perfect most of the day. We did get a little dusty on a short portion of dirt road, but the heavy wind and rain soon washed our cars clean again! Breakfast at Western Hills lodge was superb and the scenery was unsurpassed. Rich and Kent, our Navy veterans, piped us all aboard for a tour of the Bat Fish, an old diesel World War II submarine. It certainly makes you appreciate even more those who served aboard such vessels. We enjoyed a very informative presentation in the Bacone College Museum along with the numerous Indian artifacts. Our lunch at an Amish restaurant was delicious. Many of us brought home some samples from their gift shop. For those who are wondering, my jalapeno pickled eggs were quite tasty! The tour of a mostly unknown monastery was our last point of interest before racing the storms home. Who would have thought such a facility could be found in the backwoods of Oklahoma?? Watching a young artist carve faces into the stone was incredible, just like stone sculptors have done for many centuries. It was a most enjoyable day spent with friends driving our Model A s over 175 miles through some scenic landscapes. If you missed it, you really missed a great time. Harold and Rich, with help from several others, organized and officiated at this year s Play Day. The weather was perfect. There seemed to be more women drivers this year with Virginia Harris, Lesa and Tory doing a super job of driving. Rodger was caught on camera trying to bribe Rich to help his pal, Ralph, win one of the events. Cheaters never win, Rodger! A Scout leader should know that! We had ten Model A s from our club (plus Scott and Judy from Wichita in their very nice Sport Coupe) attend the Tulsa Fly-In at the Bartlesville Airport. It was another beautiful day. We had a nice pancake breakfast, watched lots of airplanes, and even watched Rich celebrate his 70th birthday by flying in a 70-year-old PT-19 World War II open cockpit trainer. Unfortunately, Marvin and Jerry Conrad worked most of the time at the airport trying to determine what the problem was with Jerry s car and its not-sofunny noise. Jerry ended up coming home with the AAA wrecker again, so he was not a happy camper! After a long, frustrating day, he was really searching for Al K. Hall for some help! We hope you get your car fixed soon, Jerry. The Fall Tour is just around the corner. We only have limited space for pictures every month in the Rumble Sheet, but you can go to our web page and find many, many more photographs. Be sure to thank Steve for doing such a wonderful job with the web page and email notifications for coming events. Many thanks, Steve. Keep up the great work. Okay, here is a little trivia question for everyone. What two Model A s in our club have Mickey Mouse on their front ends? Happy Trails to You October Rumble Sheet - Volume 46 - Volume 10 Page 3

MODEL A MUSEUM UPDATE By Roy Cail The Model A Museum Building is a reality! Over 200 cars and at least twice that many people attended the Building Dedication on Model A Day at Gilmore on September 15th. After an invocation and breaking of a bottle of champagne on the corner of the building, a ribbon was cut and the front doors thrown open for the crowd of eager Model A'ers to view the new building. Gilmore Trustee Jon BOWERS welcomed the crowd, MAFFI President Stan Johnson gave an overview of plans for the future displays, and several people and organizations presented gifts and donations to the museum. Visitors were invited to have a photo taken of their car in front of the museum gas station, and also inside under the New Ford On Display sign and in front of several of the museum cars already inside the building. Now the difficult work of creating the displays of cars, parts, tools, accessories and fashions begins. Anyone having items or collections to donate should contact Phil Ierardi at pni1938@gmail.com for instructions on how and where to donate items. "Thank you, thank you, thank you" to all who have bought bricks and donated money, time or items toward the construction of the museum building. Please don't stop now as we work to create a museum inside.
