OPEN COMPETITION 22 & 23 SEPTEMBER 2018 We invite you to join us for our Annual Open Competition 22 & 23 September 2018. Indoor and Outdoor terrains. Entrance fees include temporary membership of The Guernsey Club de Petanque LBG for the duration of the competition for all visiting players. Saturday 22 Open Doubles sponsored by Network Insurance & Financial Planning Inscription from 8:15 am with play commencing at 9:00 am prompt Teams will be drawn in Leagues of four and will play three games in the morning session. The winners of each League will qualify for the Open Main, the second team for the Plate, the third team for Consolage 1 and the fourth team for Consolage 2. For the afternoon session, each of the four competitions will be divided into two Divisions and each team will play 3 games against the other teams in their Division. The winners of each Division will play each other in the final. There will be no play-offs for third and fourth positions. Sunday 23 Open Triples sponsored by Doyle Motors (Honda) Inscription from 8:15 to 8:45 am. Play will commence at 9:00 am. Opponents will be drawn at random for Round 1, then winners against winners and losers against losers for the next three rounds. All teams will therefore play a minimum of four games. Four teams will qualify for the semi-finals; the two winners contesting the final and the two losers will play for third and fourth positions. OPEN DOUBLES - An extra Option As in 2017, we will allow a 3 rd person to be named to enter the Saturday Doubles. The following Rules will apply: The Organiser, Umpire and Jury are willing to allow three player teams to enter the Doubles Competition, 2 players in the morning session and a different pairing in the afternoon session which means that one player will be playing all day but with a different partner in each of the two sessions. No contact whatsoever must be made with the third non-player during a match whether by coaching, advising, discussing tactics, by-standing for support or otherwise. The third (non-player) may not take part in that session unless by reason of illness or injury at the Event Organiser s discretion. All games will be played to 13 points and appropriate footwear needs to be worn at all times when playing. Competition Boules Please note that only competition boule may be used. Any players not being in possession of the regulation competition boules are welcome to choose and borrow a set from those available for use at the Club. 2

We have 28 outdoor and 16 indoor terrains and a large spectator area with a tremendous view over the West Coast. The Clubroom can seat 50 and there is a small kitchen/café area where drinks and cakes will be dispensed all day. A mobile van will be on site for the purchase of other food. You are welcome to bring your own food. There are indoor toilets and adequate parking.
