ERLENE PACE, COMMODORE HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR! As your new 2019 Commodore I was trying to think of something different than other new Commodore s taking the helm has said, so here I go!! I am very proud to represent SeaGate this year. We have some great events planned, some old & new. The popular New Members Brunch, hosted by Dan Torla & Bill Oneida will be Sunday Jan. 20th at Acapulco. Please contact them if you need a ride or more details. A new event this year Everything Trader Joe s Potluck, hosted by Pat & Vaughn Jenkes & Anne Marie & Thomas Pichotta, is at the Club House Saturday Feb. 23rd. Signing up early gives you the opportunity to select what you would like to bring. Thank you to all the event hosts for volunteering, but we still have a couple of open months if you re interested. Also, thanks to the Board Members & let s welcome our Rear Commodore, Donna Wells. If you haven t heard already, Mike & I bought a house in Lake Havasu City Arizona, so we will be traveling back & forth a lot this year. Thanks again for the privilege to serve you. FRANCIS OKINO, VICE COMMODORE The 2018 Commodores Ball, held at the Old Ranch Country Club, was a blast! If you have not yet looked at the pictures posted on the Seagate Yacht Club website, please do so immediately. You will enjoy how all the activities were captured. The rendition of the National anthem by our own Kelly Tidwell was breathtaking, the food was great and the music played to everybody s expectation. The atmosphere was delightful and everybody had a chance to chat with whoever they wanted. The event will indeed be remembered as one of the best Commodores Ball. Our greatest appreciation goes to Commodore Cindy Allen for hosting this unforgettable event. The 2018 Boat Parade entry by Seagate Yacht Club won the Best of Yacht Club award. Though the theme, Space Odyssey was a bit challenging, the boat decoration group was able to come up with material that closely captured the theme. The inflatable astronaut was worn by Robin Clark s grandson and his live performance when the boat passed the judges was remarkable. Our greatest appreciation goes to the boat decoration working group Mike and Erlene Pace, Cindy Allen, Ray and Jan Nagele, Pat Jenkins, Jackie Sands, Robert Sanabria, Michael McEntee, Donna Wells, Debra Wainer, Nancy Knupp, Susie Pendleton, Janet Littlejohn, Ralph Lind, Lisa Ratkelis, Francis and Aurelia Okino. Our special thanks go to Jean and Robin Clark for volunteering the FIN-TASTIC for the parade. At the award ceremony, I told the organizers that we intend to win again next year----so the ball is in the Rear Commodore s court!! DONNA WELLS, REAR COMMODORE HELLO SGYC MEMBERS! I am thrilled to be your new Rear Commodore. If we haven t met yet, please say hello! My name is Donna Wells and I have owned in Seagate since 2006, though, I have not always lived here. I will be working with the boating events this year including Opening Day and the Fabulous Boat Parade!!! By the way, We WON BEST YACHT CLUB THIS YEAR! I am looking forward to meeting and working with you all. Have a Happy 2019! DR.
