DAY 2 Saturday 16 July 2016 Sightseeing Darwin During our stay in Darwin we will have the chance to meet with Bruce and Jodi Chapman, Diocesan Youth Worker, and we will also visit Nungalinya College which BCA has had a long term interest in this college. These meetings and wonderful times of fellowship will be interspersed with sightseeing of the main highlights of Darwin. Overnight: Mirambeena Resort, Darwin Darwin Harbour DAY 3 Sunday 17 July 2016 Worship & Darwin Sightseeing Worship This morning we will enjoy a time of worship in the morning with the remainder of the day until early evening as free time for shopping or your own exploring of the city. (Passengers arriving on The Ghan today will arrive at 6.30pm and will be transferred to the hotel.) The hotel is close to the CBD of Darwin with the remainder of the day at leisure to explore the city or relax by the pool. Overnight: Mirambeena Resort, Darwin Darwin Kakadu Departing Darwin today we visit the Territory Wildlife Park with its incredible range of top end wildlife and birds. Driving across the Marrakai Plains we then enter Kakadu National Park to visit Jabiru and Ubirr Rock. Visit several rock art sites and admire the sensational views over Arnhem Land floodplains before checking in this afternoon with time for a swim before dinner. Overnight: Gagadju Lodge, Cooinda DAY 5 Tuesday 19 July 2016 Kakadu Covering an area of 19,800 square kilometers the World Heritage listed Kakadu is also the largest National Park in Australia and we have a full day today to further explore it s beauty. We will enjoy a cruise on Yellow Waters, walk around the Aboriginal rock art at Nourlangie Rock, pausing for the breathtaking views across the vast plains. Visit the Bowali Visitors Centre to learn about the local Aboriginal culture of this region. Overnight: Gagadju Lodge, Cooinda Kakadu National Park 4 The little extras were very much appreciated.
Arnhemland Bungle Bungle Ranges DAY 6 Wednesday 20 July 2016 Kakadu - Katherine From Cooinda we drive out of the World Heritage National Park, rejoining the Stuart Highway at Pine Creek, then head to Katherine. After lunch we will visit the Katherine Hot Springs for a soothing and enjoyable dip surrounded by the lush tropical vegetation before checking into our hotel this afternoon. Accommodation: Knotts Crossing Resort Katherine DAY 7 Thursday 21 July 2016 Katherine A leisurely morning visiting the Katherine School of the Air and some free time in the main street with lunch today at your own choice and cost. This afternoon we will enjoy a two gorge cruise in a wonderful inland waterway, and as we walk across rocks between gorges, good shoes are recommended. Return to our accommodation after the cruise. You will be held spellbound by the changing colours of the ochre rich cliffs, we are starting to enter the real Kimberley country now. Katherine Gorge Cruise Broome DAY 12 Tuesday 26 July 2016 Fitzroy Crossing - Broome This morning we cruise Geikie Gorge, part of the Devonian reef, which has a 350 million-year history. Watch out for the crocodiles! We make our way north where we will arrive in time to tour Derby and see the Jetty - Derby has some of the largest tides in North West Australia. We then head south pausing to see Myall s Bore, Australia s longest cattle trough and the Boab Prison Tree. Accommodation: Oaks Broome DAY 13 Wednesday 27 July 2016 Broome A great time of fellowship sightseeing around Broome. We visit Gantheaume Point, the Japanese Cemetery and the Pearl Lugger Museum, before we leave you on your own for shopping until mid afternoon when we will collect and return you to the resort. Lunch will be at own cost today. Accommodation: Oaks Broome DAY 14 Thursday 28 July 2016 Broome As an optional tour you may like to book a flight over the Buccaneer Archipelago or take a camel ride pre sunset please refer to page 9. We visit 80- mile beach today on our way to meet Philip and Elke Knight at the Anglican Church who will join us for dinner this evening. Accommodation: All Seasons Newman Hotel DAY 17 Sunday 31 July 2016 Newman Worship A visit to the open cut mine of the Mt Newman Mount Whaleback Mining Company will give you an understanding of the powerful machinery used in the mining of these rich ore deposits. (Clothing restrictions and shoe types apply) Then a rest from travelling as we spend time in this mining town in fellowship with the BCA family. Karratha Coral Bay DAY 18 Monday 1 August 2016 Newman Tom Price We travel to Tom Price via Dales and Joffre Falls - a beautiful day of gorges and changing scenery through the Karijini National Park. This evening we meet up with BCA field staff David and Priya Morgan who are serving at Paraburdoo and Tom Price. Accommodation: Tom Price Hotel Motel DAY 19 Tuesday 2 August 2016 Tom Price - Karratha We take the Hamersley Iron Road to Millstream National Park, Python Pool, Roebourne, the oldest town in the North West, into Karratha. Along the way we may see one of the massive iron ore trains heading to the coast. Our dinner guests this evening will be Les and Jenny Gaulton from Karratha and Richard and Tracy Goscombe from Wickham. Accommodation: Karratha International Hotel DAY 20 Wednesday 3 August 2016 Karratha - Exmouth We leave for Exmouth, the Northern Gateway to Cape Range and Ningaloo Marine Parks. Our drive takes us over the Fortescue River to the Nanaturra Roadhouse before detouring west towards the range along the Exmouth Gulf. In Exmouth we will meet the BCA field workers Frank and Jo Nicol. Accommodation: Potshot Motel - Exmouth DAY 21 Thursday 4 August 2016 Exmouth - Carnarvon We head south to our Coral Bay cruise, a marine wonderland with the reef close to shore. Drive through Carnarvon s vast variety of agriculture as we head for our accommodation. Accommodation: Best Western Hospitality Inn, Carnarvon DAY 22 Friday 5 August 2016 Carnarvon Denham We will have a tour of Carnarvon before heading off to Hamelin Pool home to a colony of Stromatolites, the billions of shells that make up Shell Beach and Eagle Bluff before arriving in Denham, the most westerly town in Australia. Accommodation: Comfort Resort Heritage, Shark Bay DAY 23 Saturday 6 August 2016 Denham Kalbarri An early morning trip to Monkey Mia to mingle with the dolphins (Dolphins swim free in the ocean and therefore their appearance cannot be guaranteed). It is then on to Kalbarri National Park and Hawks Head Lookout to view the Murchison River Gorge and for an opportunity to see the spectacular wildflowers (subject to the 2016 season). Perth Monkey Mia Geraldton DAY 24 Sunday 7 August 2016 Kalbarri Geraldton This morning we join the 9.00am service at Kalbarri with a chance to worship with the locals. Then we drive through Northampton to Geraldton for our overnight stay. Accommodation: All Seasons Resort - Geraldton DAY 25 Monday 8 August, 2016 Geraldton Worship Our day today will include a tour of the Geraldton Cathedral, meeting the Dean and BCA field staff David and Traci Mitchell. We will also visit the HMAS Sydney II memorial and other exciting local sightseeing. Lunch at own choice and cost today with some time to explore the town centre. Accommodation: All Seasons Resort - Geraldton DAY 27 Wednesday 10 August 2016 Perth B Our morning tour of Perth will include the wine region and a visit to the historic church on the Swan River where BCA has its historical roots. Accommodation: Travelodge Perth DAY 28 Thursday 11 August 2016 Perth - Home B Sadly all good things must come to an end and today we bid farewell to our newly made friends and say goodbye to Perth with transfers today to Perth airport for the return flights home. DAY 26 Tuesday 9 August 2016 Geraldton - Perth We depart Geraldton for the Nambung National Park, home of the Pinnacles pillars of limestone time for a walk to photograph and experience the uniqueness of the landscape.
