Institute of Hotel & Tourism Management Organizes National Conference on Current Trends in Sustainable Tourism Development (March 4-5, 2016) Maharshi Dayanand University Rohtak (Haryana)

Aim of Conference Institute of Hotel & Tourism Management, M.D. University, Rohtak is organizing Two Day National Conference on Current Trends in Sustainable Tourism Development on 04-05 March, 2016.In last decade, Tourism and Hospitality Industry has undergone transformation to emerge as one of the largest and fastest growing industries in the world with a global orientation. As per World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) nearly 400 million jobs worldwide are supported by travel and tourism- either directly in the industry or in related sectors. Besides well documented economic benefits of the industry, it also has implications for society and ecology. Lack of effective planning is continuously affecting many ancient local cultures adversely. It has been thoroughly investigated that both the rural or urban - natural and cultural - landscapes have paid a price for tourism development. Sustainable Tourism with interest to protect the interest of all involved stakeholders in the process can be solution for these problems. Some issues like formulation of universally accepted guidelines of sustainable tourism related to seasonality of destinations, measurement calculators, expected role and inter-relationship among different stakeholders not only for large and medium scale firms but also for small scale firms are some of the focal points of researches invited in this conference. Accordingly, the conference aims to address the trends in sustainability approaches adopted by different stakeholders by providing a sound platform for academics, researchers and professionals who share similar interest to present their research findings and expose to the discussions that might be useful for further research work on tourism and budding professionals.
