May 2010 LUTHERAN PIONEER CAMP CONFEENCE PINE RIDGE POST Pine Ridge Campground Waldo, WI We need you at Pine Ridge! Are you interested in becoming involved in the planning and operation of Pine Ridge Campground? We need Delegates to attend our annual meeting (yes, just once per year in May) to offer your help in planning the affairs of your campground. We also need Board Members to supervise the activities and execute the decisions of the Conference. The Board meets twice per year (April and October). In between meetings, e-mail or the US Postal Service is used to make decisions or vote on business activities. The Board Members also help to host the Annual Family Campout the first full weekend each August. This is your campground. We need your input to have it continue to offer a place to relax, learn and enjoy the great outdoors of God s creation for all WELS/ELS members. Can we count on you? Delegate s Meeting We invite all interested persons to attend the annual Delegate s Meeting. This year s meeting will be held May 19 th at the Synod Office Building at 7PM. Park in the back and enter at the rear door. Each conference member congregation may send two voting delegates, one for their Train and one for their Caravan. In an effort to encourage more utilization of Pine Ridge Campground, this meeting we will be voting on amending the Constitution to allow WELS/ELS congregations that do not currently have an active Pioneer group to be able to join the conference and send a voting delegate to the annual meeting. We will also be voting on filling four Board Member s positions for the coming two years and other business as may be presented.

Major Pine Ridge Events Scheduled for 2010 Upcoming Activities Call for reservations. Even if there are other activities on the dates you want, we have five separate camping areas available. Choice Dollars SM will be designated to some Thrivent Financial members when that portion of the program launches this summer. (Thrivent Financial member eligibility will be based on fraternal benefit society product ownership and Thrivent Financial volunteer leadership, and helping direct Choice Dollars will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Thrivent Choice SM program.) As always, Pine Ridge Campground is grateful for your consideration when you make charitable giving plans. If you are a Thrivent Financial member who learns you will be eligible to direct Choice Dollars SM (watch your mail for details from Thrivent Financial this summer), we ask you to consider Pine Ridge Campground as you help direct Thrivent Financial s charitable funds. Regular donations can still be made to Pine Ridge Campground contact either the office or a board member to make your donation. Flue heat exchanger donated and installed. This gives more heat from the same amount of wood burning in the Chalet wood burner. Thanks to Mike and Mary Orville for the donation and Eric Vanselow for the installation. Campground Reservations and information - Call Caretakers Eric or Cindy at 920-528-8307

Volunteers needed for wood spitting! We will be splitting and stacking wood for the season on Saturday, May 8 th. Eric Vanselow has quite a pile of wood ready to split by the wood shed. We will have two power splitting machines and we are looking for some more help for the day. If you are available, come give us a hand. We plan on starting about 8 am but anytime you can make it would be appreciated. New Flag Pole A second flag pole was authorized by the Board (at our last October meeting) to be installed near the Chalet. It has been purchased by Eric Vanselow and has been added to the project list for installation. Learning Woodworking Skills These are pictures of Tom Palubecki s activity session on woodworking using a lathe. Tom conducted this session each of the past two years at our National Camp LP. He brought in several lathes and with some great adult guidance the boys made wooden pens and key fobs. Dale Lorfeld said they are looking forward to using Pine Ridge Campground for their 2010 National Camp LP. Looking for an RV to rent The National Boy Pioneers will be having their campout at Pine Ridge July 9 to 16. Since there will be a large group of all males, they would like to use both shower rooms in the Chalet. However, there will be two female cooks attending. Dale Lorfeld is asking if anyone has an RV with a bathroom that these two women could use during this time. They would prefer a nonsmoking unit. If you can help out with this, please contact Dale at: lpexecdir@tds.net (0ffice), dale.lorfeld@sbcglobal.net (home) or 262-492- 1648 (cell)
