Message From The ER Lots of high powered Elks We were visited by the Grand Exalted Ruler, David Carr and he was accompanied by two Past Grand Exalted Rulers, Val Bates and Mike Smith. I don't know how many Past State Presidents, our own Jimmy Solana, neighbor, Jim Hurst, Vince Como, perhaps others that I didn't recognize. It was about as much firepower as you can get outside of a state or national convention. The Lodge Officers all pitched in and made sure the guests cups runneth over, the guests were surprisingly abstenious. The food was superb, Terry outdid himself. If anyone didn't have a good time it was their own damn fault. I guess this is my last monthly newsletter, I know Gene Rittenhouse is chaffing at the bit (That is 'anxious' for all you snowbirds) to get his plans underway. Good luck to him, he has paid his dues, and while he has some ambitious plans, Gene is a dedicated worker and may very well accomplish everything he sets out to accomplish. He will need help, so don't sit back and watch, roll up your sleeves and offer to help. I want to thank all of you for the assistance and well wishes you have given me. There has been a lot of concern for my health, as far as I know I am doing great, little fuzzy on the memory but some things are better forgotten. Wayne Reyes has been a marvelous help and we have worked very smoothly together. I can't pick out one name without leaving someone else out, you know who you are, thanks. Thanks to everyone who helped make the 10K a success, once again we were able to take care of some of our charitable obligations. When you see Bob Kershner, thank him, it was a huge undertaking and he made it work seamlessly. I have observed that it is very difficult for some Exalted Rulers to let go and move on, I hope I am not one of them. If you see me acting Exalted, kick me in the fanny and make me move on. Thanks again for all your support. Olen Meredith 2 19

Bulletin Sponsors FROM THE ELAND PRESIDENT MARCH 2012 Dear Eland Members: Congratulations to the new ELAND officers who were elected at our last meeting. They are Judy Reyes, President; Ethel Picknally, Vice-President; Suzette Marro, Secretary; and R. Elizabeth Wise, Treasurer. The new officers will be installed on March 31, following officer installation. This being my last letter to you, I would like to say Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive during my tenure the past four years. Together we have raised and donated many dollars to charity. We have almost doubled our ELAND membership, adding fourteen new members just this past year. I have been honored to lead this wonderful organization and proud of our accomplishments. Thank you for your confidence in me. I will still be frequently around the lodge; and working tirelessly to help raise money for the children. Watson Realty Corp. Realtor We had a very pleasant evening at the PER Ball. To all the Elks who did not join us, you missed a great evening. The dinner prepared by Terry was delicious and music by Dave was wonderful for dancing. Mark your calendar for next year and plan on joining us. Congratulations to Marcia Army, from New York, who won the Wine & Chocolate Basket. Enjoy!! Remember to wish the lodge ritual team well as they compete in the district competition on March 4 th. Also the lodge has six parking events during the month and Cindy will appreciate all assistance. Our next meeting is Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 7:30 pm 18 Respectfully, President 797-6612 Linda M. Rittenhouse 3

Harry-Anna Change Jar Program Continues The Harry-Anna Change Jar Program has been and continues to be a complete success. We are asking the participating members to turn in their Jars by March 7, 2012. Your jars will be returned to you so you may continue to save change for Harry-Anna and our projects for children. Participants can turn their jars into the Lodge Secretary or myself, whenever they wish. Please feel free to join the many, which are starting on their second and third jars. If you would like a jar, please contact me at (904) 797-6612. Elks Lodge Annual 10K Raffle Hello everyone, I just wanted to say thank you to all the volunteers that worked this event, you not only looked good but you did a great job as usual. The above scene was on Marine Street. The building was subsequently torn down and reconstructed at the intersection of Marine and Avenida Menendez where is is now occupied by a restuarant. The Elks Lodge was chartered in 1903. After moving from Marine Street the lodge was located at the present site of the Monterey Motel on Bay Street, now Avenida Mendendez. ***Florida Elks Youth Camp*** Thanks for all your donations, Brothers and Sisters, to the Florida Elks Youth Camp. The Elks Hoop Shoot was held in December. The District Hoop Shoot was held January 7. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make this a success. The North Eastern District sent a boy and girl from each age category to the Regional Tournament. Thanks again for your donations of clothing, games, sports items and other things that are appropriate for the 9-13 year old children who attend our Florida Elks Youth Camp. We continue to need donations, particularly SPORTS equipment that can be used at the camp. Keep them coming!! The FEYC will be accepting registrations in March. If you have any children that are in need of being sent to camp this summer, please let me know. We need Sponsors. The cost per child is $180/Week. If you have any questions about the camp or donations, please feel free to call me at any time. Irv Stockdale Cell: 904 315 3773, Home 904 471 7812. Your Continued Support and Donations Make this possible. Thank YOU! 12 Our Lodge continues to grow as we initiated 14 new members in February. The new members are: Front Row: William Whitson, Peter Barker, Patricia Gates, DJ Taylor, Josie Bowman,Thomas Pederzoli, Michael Bogdaniec Back Row: Larry Dozer, Maurice Morissette, Clayton Kipf, ER; Wayne Reyes, Wayne Smith, Roy Alaimo, Dennis Ball, Billy Richardson. Please join in welcoming these new members. When you see them in the Lodge introduce yourself to them, and make them welcome. Elk of the Month for March I don't know and didn't ask if Lee Ebersold has been Elk of the Month before. It would be justified just about every month, I know we lavish praise on his lovely bride and deservedly so, but Lee...he is ugly and gruff but he seems to keep Cindy happy, that alone is worth being Elk of the Month. He does keep the Elk Riders somewhat organized (as organized as they can be), he also sets policies for the Parking event. An example was when the Lady told Lee, "I don't want to park there (where Lee had directed)". Lee responded that "it is $10 to park where we want you to park but it is $20 to park where you want to park." There is a life lesson there if you think about it. Thanks for all you do Lee. Lee Ebersold is the March Elk of the Month. 9
