1. The University of Castilla-La Mancha The University of Castilla-La Mancha is a modern and competitive institution, with almost 30,000 students, 2,270 lecturers and researchers and 1,059 administrative and service staff. It is situated in the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha, with a surface area of almost eight hundred thousand square kilometers. Tradition and modernity, open spaces and infrastructure, proximity and comfort. These are the hallmarks that define the UCLM campuses located in average sized cities, which are university-orientated, accessible, peaceful and equipped with all services. 2. Toledo Toledo is a city with one of the richest histories in Spain. Muslims, Jews and Christians lived together in harmony here for centuries, leaving their indelible mark on Toledo s streets, monuments and buildings. Its old town was declared a World Heritage Site in 1986.This center sits majestically above the Tagus River and now, represents one of the most visited sites in all of Spain. With 85,000 inhabitants, it is the capital of Castilla-La Mancha and, therefore, its administrative center. It is a modern city and a first-class tourist destination because of its excellent heritage. UCLM has established its presence in Toledo at two different campuses: the Faculties of Social Sciences and Humanities in the city s historical quarter; and the Science- Technology campus in the old Weapons Factory. With over 6,000 students, this complex has been renovated with buildings equipped with non-polluting alternative energies.

Description of the program The entire academic program will be developed through both theoretical and practical sessions, a methodology that enables teachers to learn deeper thanks to the opportunities offered by a city like Toledo. This entire program of seminars is completed with a Spanish Language course, (20 hours) which will be held in the afternoon. The academic program is organized around the following 5 blocks of contents: Block 1: History Throughout these sessions, the students will have the chance to get the main keys about the rich Spanish history, marking a journey from the first centuries to the recent history. Toledo witnessed the main historical events that happened, therefore apart from the general key about the Spanish history, some of these seminars relate these topics to the history of the city.

Block 2: Art The lessons, which complete this block, allow students to appreciate the vast artistic heritage that Spain treasures. Toledo and Madrid are two cities with an important artistic past and because of that reason, the seminars will be completed with practical lessons that will make students be immersed in the contents. Block 3: Literature Spanish literary heritage is also important worldwide and Castilla-La Mancha is known because in these lands Don Quixote lived most of his adventures. Having this significant character as a reference, the course provides seminars in order to learn the most relevant keys about the Spanish literature. Block 4: Economy This block provides the students the main keys to understand the economic situation of the country and the relations which maintains with countries like the United States. Moreover, there is a session dedicated to analyzing the phenomenon of tourism and what it implies for the Spanish economy in this globalized world. Block 5: Spanish culture The last block of contents is dedicated to Spanish culture and it emphasizes the richness of the cultural heritage. Gastronomy and celebrations in Spain are some of the topics that students will learn throughout these lessons. Block 6: Spanish classes This block is dedicated to the Spanish language classes where the students will have the chance to improve their level of this important language. the classes will be segmented according to the level of Spanish of those who request the course.

Cultural trips Apart from the theoretical program, we have designed two cultural trips at the weekend, which will introduce the students into a historical atmosphere, visiting two of the most important sites near Toledo: Madrid and Consuegra. Madrid is the capital and the most populous city in the country and its history brings the visitors a great opportunity to meet some of the most important characteristics of Spanish lifestyle and appreciate its monuments and cultural heritage. On the other hand, Consuegra is the best place to meet one of the most important figures of the Spanish literature: Don Quixote. Visiting the windmills, a castle and the landscape of La Mancha, the students will be immersed into the world of this important character. Outdoor activities included: -Day trip to Madrid -Day trip to Consuegra -Guided tour: Toledo, city of the three cultures -Guided tour: Gothic style in Spain. 5. Useful information Fees Course + accommodation in twin room: 1700 euros. This price includes 60 hours of class, day trips, accommodation in twin room (3 weeks), classroom materials and the use of the University facilities. Medical insurance It is necessary that students take out medical insurance before traveling. Descripción del programa Todo el programa académico se desarrollará a través de sesiones teóricas y prácticas, una metodología que permite a los docentes aprender más a fondo gracias a las oportunidades que ofrece una ciudad como Toledo. Todo este programa de seminarios se completa con un curso de español, (20 horas) que se llevará a cabo por la tarde. El programa académico está organizado en torno a los siguientes 5 bloques de contenidos: Bloque 1: Historia A través de las diferentes sesiones, los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de conseguir las claves de la rica historia de España, haciendo un recorrido desde los primeros siglos a la historia más reciente. Además, Toledo fue testigo de los principales eventos que ocurrieron a lo largo del tiempo, por lo que algunos de los seminarios abordan estas cuestiones en el contexto de la ciudad.

Bloque 2: Arte Las clases que completan este bloque permiten a los estudiantes apreciar el vasto patrimonio artístico que España atesora. Toledo y Madrid son dos ciudades con un importante pasado artístico y por ello, los seminarios se completarán con clases prácticas que harán a los estudiantes adentrarse en los contenidos. Bloque 3: Literatura El patrimonio literario español es también importante en todo el mundo y Castilla-La Mancha es conocida por ser la tierra donde Don Quijote vivió la mayor parte de sus aventuras. Teniendo esto como referente, el curso proporciona seminarios con el fin de aprender las clases más relevantes sobre la literatura española. Bloque 4: Economía Este bloque proporciona al estudiante las claves principales para entender la situación económica del país y las relaciones que mantiene con países como Estados Unidos. Además, hay una sesión dedicada a analizar el fenómeno del turismo y su implicación en la economía española dentro de este mundo globalizado. Bloque 5: Cultura española El último bloque de contenidos está dedicado a la cultura española y enfatiza la riqueza de su patrimonio cultural. La gastronomía o las celebraciones en España son algunos de los temas que los estudiantes aprenderán en estas clases. Bloque 6: Clases de español Este bloque está dedicado a las clases de lengua, donde los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de mejorar su nivel en este idioma tan importante.

Viajes culturales Además del programa teórico, hemos diseñado dos viajes culturales durante el fin de semana, que presentarán a los estudiantes en un ambiente histórico, visitando dos de los sitios más importantes cerca de Toledo: Madrid y Consuegra. Madrid es la capital y la ciudad más poblada del país y su historia ofrece a los visitantes la oportunidad de conocer algunas de las características más importantes del estilo de vida español y apreciar sus monumentos y su patrimonio cultural. Por otro lado, Consuegra es el mejor lugar para conocer a una de las figuras más importantes de la literatura española: Don Quijote. Al visitar los molinos de viento, un castillo y el paisaje de La Mancha, los estudiantes se sumergirán en el mundo de este personaje tan importante.
