Born and grew up in South Africa (the greatest place on earth). Studied as an accountant. (Found that boring) Married with 3 daughters. (Good having so many females around) Have been in the aviation industry for 19 years, all within airport management with ACSA. Now in Mumbai, India for the last 5½ years as Head of Airside Operations.
Indian Airports going Private In 2004 the Indian Government decided to privatise the two largest airports (Mumbai and Delhi), by inviting tenters to enter into Operation, Management and Development Agreements (OMDA) with the government retaining 26% shareholding. Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), part of the South African consortium of companies, and GVK (at the time with no airport experience) of India formed a Joint Venture to tender for the of the Mumbai International Airport Why?
Indian Airports an Opportunity?? Entering the Indian Market seemed just to good an opportunity to miss. Market trends pointed in just one direction, and that was not down. And the trend continues!!!
