Texas Trails Council Pecan Valley District 4 th Annual Mountain Man Camporee April 22-24, 2016 San Saba, TX Leaders Guide, Schedule, Attendee List & Registration Information
2016 Pecan Valley District (PVD) San Saba Mountain Man Camporee (SSMMC) Leader s Guide Pecan Valley District is once again, for the 4th year in a row, putting on the San Saba Mountain Man Camporee (SSMMC). We invite all Boy Scout Troops from within the Texas Trails Council to participate. SSMMC offers a great time for all who come. This year, we will once again do a race with challenges along the way. The challenges along the course will be: canoeing or kayaking, a creek/tunnel run, fire starting, tomahawk throwing, a lashings challenge, a knot relay, a log saw, and an orienteering challenge. A couple of other activities we will be doing during the weekend include a kickball tournament and a Dutch oven dessert contest for boys and for adults. What to bring? Every boy will need an extra pair of shoes that are closed toe, and ok to get wet and dirty. Each and every Patrol should have at least 1 compass, flint, steel, and char cloth. Cedar bark will be provided. Each Troop should bring all of the things they need for a weekend campout. That includes food, water, dealing with their own trash, cooking utensils, tents and so on. Port-a-potties will be provided. Campsites should be kept clean at all times. There will be a camp inspection. Of course all BSA rules for a campout apply to this event. So, all participants will need to have a BSA medical form part A & B upon arrival. Scout leaders will need to have the medical forms on them at all times in case of a problem. Everyone needs to come with a great attitude, be examples of the Scout Oath and Law, and be ready to have a lot of fun. We ve enjoyed much success with this event every year and we are looking forward to another great time this year. Questions?
