Please wipe up any spillages. 2) Don t create congestion in the kitchen. Please get your drink and return to the main hall. 3) Have you paid your subs? The money is mainly used to pay our Friday night hall rental, plus the cost of drinks. 1.50 per person please. 4) Please put away any tools, layouts, tables and chairs you ve used at the end of the evening. 5) A clear passage way MUST be maintained in the entrance lobby area as an emergency exit. Also please keep ALL other emergency exits accessible at ALL times. 6) Please sign in at each attendance. This ensures we know who to account for in the event of an emergency evacuation. ADVANCED NOTICE Will all members please note that the N&DMRC will NOT be meeting at Hardingstone on Friday 27th October as the hall is unavailable. 2

From the Editors Cab As we settle down into Hardingstone, we need to get back to some normality. This starts with the Test Track schedule which is listed out below. In early September we are exhibiting the Test Track and Jimmys End at the Loughborough show. Please see the poster on page 7. Colin Club Torque Date of next Committee Meeting A date for the next committee is Monday 7th August. If there are any items for the agenda, please let Richard have them ASAP. Email: rjd156@btinternet.com Club Night Test Track Dates 2017 7th & 28th July, 18th Aug, 8th & 29th Sep, 20th Oct, 10th Nov, 1st & 22nd Dec Exhibition Flyers A large quantity of A6 size flyers have been printed to advertise our exhibition in August. When you know you will be attending any model railway exhibitions or any other transport show/event then please take a quantity of flyers with you to be handed out. These are kept in our filing cabinet drawer in the Club s store shed. 3

HARDINGSTONE Hardingstone Village Hall, High St, Hardingstone, Northampton NN4 6DA. Key holders for the village hall are Les Pace, Colin Tarry & Michael Castledine. Whilst Colin is on holiday deputy key holder will be John Walker. For the time being the attendance format is the same as now, that is you pay 1.50 per weekly visit until we get things sorted out. The Northampton & District Model Railway Club hereby give notice that the ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING will be held on Friday 8th September 2017 at Hardingstone Village Hall at 20:00 All members are requested to attend. This year we do have some important additions and changes to the Clubs Rules & Constitution that have resulted from our move to Hardingstone. 4

HOMEWORK This months homework question has been submitted by John Walker. Take a look at the picture at the bottom of this page, taken in 2017 by John, which shows a manufacturers work plate. Question 1 Where was this picture taken? Question 2 What work did I do? Clues: My name is Marion My class was Brazil but I never worked there I have a 0-4-2 wheel arrangement I did short track runs and shunting duties In my prime 90% of my work did not involve passengers In 1955 I was still working and met a Royal Princess I am now retired (many years ago) but I always lived and worked in the sun I never moved away and I am being looked after by a museum. 5

Club Membership With the Club s move to Hardingstone we are preparing to implement the revised membership subscription arrangements as agreed verbally with a majority voted show of hands on a club night held at Kingsthorpe before we moved to Hardingstone. The members present were in favour of a monthly subscription rate of 8 starting from 1st August. As previously stated this will over 12 months work out cheaper for regular attendees as the weekly attendance charge will cease. For administerive purposes the easiest way of managing this, is by members either paying their subscriptions by standing order or by automated payments via internet banking, into the Club s bank account. All current members will shortly receive details of the clubs bank account along with a standing order form for completion (if required). This system will now necessitate every member having a membership number. This number you will need to quote in the standing order reference box or in your internet banking reference. These membership rates DO NOT effect Junior Membership. Junior members will still pay 10 per year and a weekly attendance sub. However they will get a membership no. Any member who has any queries/questions on this matter please see/contact me. Colin Tarry Treasurer 6
