PRESS RELEASE - APRIL 2018 FRANCHISE EXPO PARIS 2018 A HUGE SUCCESS! FRANCHISE EXPO PARIS REMAINS THE MUST-ATTEND EVENT FOR THE FRANCHISE SECTOR All the indicators were up for the 37th edition organised by Reed Expositions and the French Franchise Federation (Fédération française de la franchise, FFF) at Porte de Versailles from 25 to 28 March, with exhibitors particularly impressed by the quality of the contacts they made. Franchise Expo Paris also reaffirmed its international positioning with no fewer than 585 exhibitors from all over the world and over 3,300 international visitors. 36 016 visitors 125 talks and workshops on starting a business and becoming a franchisee, with over 8 350 attendees 585 exhibitors 495 brands from 90 business sectors 27% international brands (i.e. 138) representing 25 nationalities (excluding French) with national pavilions from Italy, Brazil, the Netherlands, Peru, Russia and Serbia to name but a few Franchising is really popular at the moment, with more and more entrepreneurs being attracted to the model. This was clear to see at this edition and it s no coincidence that the sector s revenue was up 8% in 2017, generating almost 670,000 jobs in France. WHO VISITED FRANCHISE EXPO PARIS 2018? Franchise Expo Paris may have established itself as the largest international franchise event, but it is also the biggest in France with 47% of visitors coming from all over the home nation. The top region was Hauts-de-France, followed by Auvergne-Rhône Alpes then Grand Est, Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Pays de la Loire. Once again, it attracted visitors from outside France, with their numbers up more than 3%! Franchise Expo Paris welcomed more than 3,300 international visitors, representing 107 nationalities. Delegations from Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Canada, the Philippines and Indonesia were also in attendance. Furthermore, 68% of visitors came to obtain information about starting a company and franchising, while 73% came with the intention of setting up their business in the coming year. Of those who came with a project in mind, 48% were currently company employees, 30% were already trading and 15% wanted to take the self-employed route by setting up a franchise business. Of those looking to start a franchise, 30% had available personal funds of over 75K, and 15% of over 150K, to inject into their business. THE 2018 HIGHLIGHTS SUCCESSFUL TALKS AND WORKSHOPS Franchise Expo Paris is a unique moment of the year for all those wishing to take their career to another level or considering becoming an entrepreneur. A total of 8,350 people attended the talks and the many educational workshops on offer to help them understand the franchise model. AT THE HEART OF THE DEBATE: THE CITY CENTRE OF THE FUTURE On Wednesday 28 March, there were three key events in the Start-up Village on the common theme of the city centre of the future with active participation from members of the Association Centre-Ville en Mouvement (city centre in motion association), CVM), including its president Patrick Vignal and its founder Pierre Creuzet. Monique Large of Pollen Consulting opened the event at 11 am by presenting the results of her exclusive study on the city centre of the future, which involved actively monitoring the topic on the main social media channels. The results were used to create a city centre of the future trend book. The Great Debate: How do retail and retail outlets fit into major cities? was led by councillors and representatives from the city councils of Orléans, Metz and Aix-en-Provence, with contributions from the FFF, Procos and the Casino group. The afternoon was given over to the issues faced by medium-sized towns, with speakers including councillors from Niort and Sens and managers from Le Jardin des Fleurs and Cavavin. Visitors took away a wealth of information from the experiences shared. AWARDS CEREMONY The awards and competitions are one of the high points of Franchise Expo Paris. The aim is to single out the companies of the moment, those which are a great source of inspiration for the franchise networks and franchisees. They stand out for their performance, constant innovative approach and daring to be different! LES RÉVÉLATIONS DE LA FRANCHISE AWARD: PRÉSERVATION DU PATRIMOINE This award recognises and supports start-up networks whose distribution concepts or services are the most successful or innovative on the market. From the 24 companies shortlisted, there were three finalists - Préservation du Patrimoine, Nachos Mexican Grill and Dom & Vie - with the award going to Préservation du Patrimoine, a specialist home renovations company. Organised by the FFF and the members of its College of Experts, in partnership with Franchise Magazine, LCL, l Observatoire de la franchise and Franchise Expo Paris MOST INNOVATIVE FRANCHISER AWARD: V AND B The prize for the most innovative franchiser went to V and B for the concept of a specialist beer and wine shop under the same roof (17 years experience and 180 retail outlets). The special Jeune Pousse (literally young shoot ) award went to the specialist confectionery outlet Le Roy René. The title of most inclusive franchiser was awarded to Attila, a company specialising in the repair and maintenance of all types of roofs. THE START-UP PITCH : AKOUSTIC ART For the first time, Franchise Expo Paris gave centre stage to 5 start-ups shortlisted by Jean- François Césarini (Deputy for the 1st constituency of Vaucluse). These start-ups, each with an innovative experience to share, had just five minutes to pitch their business to the audience. Akoustic Art, which won the live vote, produces ultra-directional speakers which can target sound at a single individual and are already used in several museums. In addition to the new digital economy, some traditional economies are moving over to digital We, the politicians, must show that traditional economy, thanks to the strength of its regions and the power of franchising, can take advantage of the new tools to develop, promote itself and gain visibility to help us be even better tomorrow.
