We are booked on the 3.00pm sailing to Southampton We will meet the coach in Southampton & depart for Calais Currently, we are booked on the 10.05pm sailing from Dover. Arriving in Calais, we will travel overnight to Berlin Students will need a packed lunch for the journey or money to purchase lunch as well as money for an evening meal on the ferry

Day 2 Breakfast on the old East/West German border. Students will need money to pay for this meal We arrive in Berlin at approximately midday. Students will have a cooked lunch at the Maredo Steakhaus, Friedrichstrasse We are unable to use the coach during the remainder of the day due to driver working regulations, but will be able to use public transport. Students will need money to pay for public transport during the visit (details in the essential items section) During the afternoon we will visit the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag & Ritter Sport World Dinner will be at Andy s Diner in East Berlin, giving us an opportunity to explore Alexanderplatz before heading back to our hotel

Day 3 After breakfast, our coach will take us for guided tours of: Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp The city the Reichstag, Holocaust Memorial, Brandenburg Gate, Unter den Linden & the remains of the wall Pupils will have time for lunch in Berlin between activities in central Berlin and will need money for this In the evening, the students will be eating at the Hofbrau Bavarian-style Beerhall (complete with Oomph band!) and visiting to the top of the Berlin TV tower

Day 4 After breakfast, our coach will take us for guided tours of: Former Stasi prison & HQ in East Berlin Pupils will have time for lunch in Berlin between activities in central Berlin and will need money for this In the evening the students will be eating at the Hard Rock Café in the heart of West Berlin before visiting the Checkpoint Charlie Museum for a late night tour

Day 5 After breakfast & checking out of our hotel, we will travel by public transport to visit: The Topography of Terror exhibition and museum Berlin Wall Memorial & Wall Documentation Centre Berlin Unterwelten (Underground) During the day, we will have lunch at The Sixties Diner In the evening pupils will have time to eat dinner between and will need money for this We will return to our hotel to collect & load bags before departing for Calais at approximately 9.30pm

Day 6 We will be catching the 12.35pm Calais/Dover ferry Students will need money to purchase breakfast on route. This is likely to be at the terminal. Pupils may also want to buy food on the ferry for lunch Arriving in Dover, we will make our way to Southampton to catch the 4.30pm ferry to East Cowes Students should be collected from the East Cowes Red Funnel Terminal at 5.30pm. When collecting your child, please make sure that this is acknowledged with a member of staff

Our expectations: We expect our students to behave sensibly and responsibly during the visit Students need to look after themselves and their belongings and to be respectful of others Serious poor behaviour may result in the trip ending early for the entire group Please note, we reserve to right to contact parents 24 hours a day in the case of serious poor behaviour However, above all we expect the students to have a great time!

Essential items: Students will need: To dress/have clothes appropriate for the duration of the visit and for the weather (coats/jumpers/trousers/sensible shoes or trainers). We will spend some time outdoors during the visit To have one main bag and one day bag. During our journey to and from Berlin, students will need to keep items they may need (money/coat/food etc.) with them in their day bag as their main bag will be stored in the hold of the coach To bring a towel and wash bag. The rooms have hairdryers, soap and all-in-one shower gel and shampoo in each room

Essential items: Socket adaptors there are lots of plug sockets in each room! The plug sockets in the room are also fitted with USB cable fittings We are happy for students to take personal electronic items (music players/phones/cameras etc.) on the strict understanding that these are the responsibility of the student. Free Wi-Fi is available in the hotel In the case of an emergency, we would appreciate contact to be made through the group leaders wherever possible, rather than directly with your child The group mobile number will be sent to you via text message prior to the visit

Essential items: Students will need to bring money with them for lunch, snacks and other items. As a guide, we would recommend budgeting for the Euro equivalent of 10 per day. Any money should also include a small amount in s to purchase food on the ferries. All money will remain the responsibility of the students Students will also need money for their Berlin transport tickets. Utilising the group discount rate, students will need to place either 16 or 20 in an envelope clearly marked with their name & Transport. The group rate is 4 per person per day & we need to use the S- & U-Bahn across 4 days of our visit. This is the cheapest way to purchase flexible, multi-use, travel tickets These envelopes should be handed to a member of staff at the East Cowes ferry terminal on our day of departure

Essential items: Student passports (or other agreed travel documents)/ EHICs should be brought to school between Monday 11 th & Thursday 14 th February. They should be placed in a named, clearly marked envelope & handed to reception. They will be stored securely in the school safe until departure If you choose not to hand in your child s passport to the school office, please be aware that your child will not be able to depart on the visit from East Cowes unless we have the passport or relevant documents in our possession During the visit, these documents will be stored safely in a secure deposit box at the hotel

Essential items: Medicines. Please ensure that: Any changes to your child s medical needs since you completed the medical consent forms are reported to a member of staff tonight, or through the school office as soon as possible ALL medicines (including over the counter medication, such as travel sickness tablets) are securely boxed or bagged up & are marked clearly with your child s name & dosage instructions Your child s medicines are handed to the designated member of staff dealing with medicines at the East Cowes ferry terminal prior to departure
