The Bog Monster Mash The Bog Monster is rising from the murky depths of Black Moshannon and you are invited to his Bog Monster Mash. It s going to be a campground smash! Our days will be filled with all that the beautiful Black Moshannon State Park has to offer...water, trails and wildlife. Our nights may be haunted by the ghoulish sounds of The Bog Monster and his friends lurking the campgrounds as they prepare for their end of October festivities. Come prepared with your scariest costume so that the monsters of Black Moshannon think that you are one of their own. 2/11 2017-09-07

Camping Information The Organized Group Camping area at Black Moshannon State Park is located ¼ mile south of the park office on Beaver Road. The pavilion at this area will serve as the camporee headquarters. All leaders meetings and information will be held at the camporee headquarters. Units may keep one trailer and one vehicle at the group camping area due to limited space and the need to preserve parking for day campers. Additional parking is available at the beach parking lot just north of the intersection of Beaver Road and Rattlesnake Pike. Site Selection You will receive your site assignment during Friday evening check-in. The group camping area at Black Moshannon State Park is divided into three areas that will be designated as subcamps. Each unit will be assigned to a subcamp to create the most even distribution of campers. Please indicate on the unit registration form how many total campers will be attending and what equipment (mess tent, grills, wash stations, tables) will be brought on site. Please keep troop equipment to a minimum to conserve space and make move-in to the walk-in sites more efficient. Parking of troop trailers at the sites is not available to conserve room for tents. Troop trailers may be kept in the group camping parking lot with one vehicle. Rules, Regulations and Conditions The group camping area at Black Moshannon is a rustic campsite that has uneven ground, no electric hookups and a single source of water. The wooded areas around the grassy clearings will be utilized for camping. Please prepare your unit and bring gear that would be appropriate for rustic or backcountry-like conditions. Fires are to be burned only in the 3 established fire rings - 1 at each subcamp Raised cooking equipment is allowed Water hauling equipment will be required to transport water from the filling station Each unit will need to bring a bucket for hauling gray water to a collection site All campsites are walk-in Units should bring minimal equipment Space is limited for tents All equipment will need to be carried from the parking lot to subcamps (as far as 200 yards) For the latest information and answers to frequently asked questions, visit the camporee website at: https://bogmonstermash.bsatroop375.org/ 5/11 2017-09-07

Boy Scout Troop and Venture Crew Program and Activities Get prepared for adventures in the outdoors! Black Moshannon is known for being a prime place to enjoy nature on the water and on trails. Birds, fish and wildlife are abundant around the lake. Boy Scouts and Venturers will be able to paddle the lake and take to the trails either on mountain bikes or by foot. Most activities will be open areas, but will have departure times throughout the day. Scouts and units are encouraged to bring mountain bikes, but helmets are absolutely required to ride. Please bring bikes in good working condition and minor service parts (such as tube or patch kit) if possible. Scouts that are interested in paddling and activities in or near the water should bring towels, attire that can get wet and dry quickly, and water shoes. The program day will be capped off at 4PM with a mountain medley relay that will have segments of mountain biking, paddling and running. Teams will be scored on time, scout spirit, skill challenges and their ability to evade (or help) the Bog Monster and his friends! The winner may not be the team that finishes the course first, so come to the Bog Monster Bash at the evening s campfire to find out! Activities Paddling Mountain Bike Hike Wildlife Fishing Bog Monster Dash - Mountain Medley Relay Schedule Schedule for the morning and afternoon program will be available upon registration at camporee. The activity areas will be open throughout both periods with departure times scheduled for mountain bike and hiking trips.
