CONTENTS Jan., 2018 Vol. 43, No. 1 Columns / Reports 2. President s Message 3. Celebrations 3. Treasurer s Report 4. December Meeting Minutes 6. Random Photos from the Past President s Message Another year has flashed before our eyes. Helen and I would like to wish everyone a healthy and prosperous New Year. It is time for the North Georgia Chapter to plan our activities for 2018. I did not go through all the meeting minutes, but it seems like we were entertaining the possibility of hosting a Zone Meet or joint hosting with the Chattanooga Chapter. If the membership is still considering this, now is the time to start planning for it. Please be thinking about a Meet and bring up any other activities you suggest for 2018 at the January 7, 2018 Meeting. See y all next year. -Loren Nelson- 11. Studebaker Corral Editorial Comment Events 5. January Meeting Details 7. Studebaker Calendar In November, at Thanksgiving this year, we were fortunate enough to spend several days with our daughter Julie, her husband Hamet, and their two boys Eli and Timo. Now in December, we ll be spending time with our son Oscar, his wife Lizet, and our granddaughter Kaira, all of whom will be coming to Georgia from their home in Mexico. Some of you might remember Kaira; she attended the January, 2011 North Georgia SDC meeting in Danielsville at the age of 3 weeks. We hosted that particular meeting. Now she s all grown up at the age of 7. We wish you and your families the happiest of holidays and look forward to seeing you at SDC meetings throughout the new year. -Guadalupe and Tim Taylor- In Memoriam Charlotte Delli passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the age of 74. She was born in Urbana, Illinois, and had been a contract officer and logistics engineer for the United States Department of Defense. Charlotte had also been an English teacher and college professor, and she is one of the past presidents of our club. We will all miss Charlotte tremendously. Charlotte's complete obituary can be seen at this web site: http://www.thomasfuneralhomecalhoun.com/obituaries/char lotte-delli/#!/obituary - 2 -

Standard Items: North Georgia Chapter SDC Minutes Sunday, December 3, 2017 Golden Corral Restaurant, Winder President Loren Nelson called the meeting to order at 2:57 p.m. He thanked the Millers, Lees, and Careys for hosting the meeting at this location. The sign-in sheet was passed around. Rochelle Ziglin moved, Terry Ziemer seconded, to approve the November minutes as published in the December Hillholder. Motion carried. Ben Alspach moved, Barbara Miller seconded, to approve the September Treasurer s Report as published in the November Hillholder. Motion carried. President Loren Nelson congratulated club members celebrating birthdays or anniversaries in the month of December. Reports: Barbara Miller, Treasurer, provided a report for the month of November. The complete report appears on page 3 of this Hillholder. Jim Carto, Membership Secretary, encouraged people to pay their 2018 membership dues now rather than wait until later. A new membership directory will be forthcoming soon and will include only those members with paid dues. Announcements / New Business: Barbara Miller broke the sad news of Charlotte Delli s death, which happened on December 2, the evening before our meeting. Donations were collected for a charitable organization to be identified by Bill, Charlotte s husband, in Charlotte s memory. Barbara moved, Alan Ziglin seconded, that the club match all donations by members, this day and for the next month or so. Motion carried. Alan Ziglin moved that the slate of club officers for 2018 be the same as for 2017, with the exception of Charlotte Delli s Vice-Presidency, which will be assumed by Terry Ziemer. Motion seconded and carried. Ed Burris reported the following regarding John Dusky, who died recently: Through the years he and wife Sheila supported me as a SDC Board member. He spent a lot of time with me at the Maggie Valley meet. He seemed in perfect health. He used to be a parts vendor. About five years ago this became a secondary business. He did some beautiful frame-off restorations. He had at least five cars that were being worked on in buildings he built. He attended a lot shows and many SDC members knew him locally as well internationally. Adjournment: At 3:12 PM, Alan Ziglin moved, Charleen Carey seconded, that the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded and carried. Our generous and thoughtful hosts made certain that nobody left without a door prize. The 50-50 was won by Rich Knoblock, and the club banked $46.00. - 4 -

Charlotte was the best newsletter editor ever in our chapter and the 2 of them used to plan Scavenger hunt drives throughout north central Florida. We would start out at a specific spot, drive through the gorgeous countryside, following directions, find the interesting answers to questions about spots along the way and end up at a great restaurant. They put lots of hard work into everything they did and sadly, one of our members was really nasty to them and they ended up leaving our chapter. We were heartsick about it. And I am so very sad about her passing. We also just lost a member of our club to brain cancer on Sunday. I will share this news with our chapter. And thanks for including the obituary which I will also pass on. - 8 -
