NHHAC News The Newsletter of the North Hills Historic Auto Club November 2017 Volume 47 Issue 11 A Message from the President Can you believe another touring season has gone by? We always say, where did the time go?, but every year it seems to go by faster! That old saying must be true that the older we get the faster it goes! Speaking of tours, we had a really nice Dick Lowe Tour. The weather was absolutely perfect! Even though the weatherman called for rain all week, I took my convertible anyway (with my granddaughter) we got home at 4:50 and it didn t rain a drop on us until 5:30! We had one car that wouldn t re-start after our first stop, but they went back after dinner and it started right up. A special thanks to Mike and Cathy Paine for planning that trip! Also, thank you to all who attended. I was unable to attend the Don Grossi Collection Tour, but I heard that it was a collection to be on your must see tour list. Thanks to Bill and Jackie Shearer for organizing that tour. You all must have had a good dinner at the North Park Lounge as no one went to Eat n Park after the meeting. One event I keep forgetting to mention and say thank you for is the Ladies Lunch outings. So, thanks to Marty Goetz and all the ladies who plan and participate. In closing, the Directors, Officers and I would like to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving Season! It s just so nice to be with family and friends. Enjoy! See you at the next meeting! Your President Steve Illsley History The North Hills Historic Auto Club was founded at Leon s Tavern on Babcock Blvd. in August of 1971, by 4 men as follows: Bill Glesner, Eddie Kuslick, Ken Kelley & Dave Moore. Purpose The general purpose of the NHHAC shall be to encourage the members to acquire, preserve, restore, exhibit and make use of antique, classic and special interest automobiles, and such other motor vehicles considered by the club fitting this purpose. Also, the club will promote the introduction of ideas and fellowship among its members. Since 1971 www.nhhaclub.com

Treasurers Report Jack Swaney read the treasurer s report. Current cash balance is $1,213.74. Daryl Elliott made a motion to accept the treasurer s report and Mike Quinn seconded. Wellness Report Phil Deakin is at home with home care nurses. Suzanne Acker reported that Jim Driscoll is at home with hospice care and has opted for no further treatment. Old Business Our members and their cars who attended the Saints John & Paul Catholic Church picnic/festival were well received. The club received a nice note acknowledging the participation of NHHAC and GPMC members. Thanks to Jennie Barker for organizing this. Mary Jo Phillips will replace Lou Gamber on the Board of Directors. This appointment will be finalized at the November meeting. New Business Jack Swaney is accepting dues payments for 2018. There being no further business, George Sabina motioned to adjourn. Respectfully submitted, Diane Otto for Bill Watt www.nhhaclub.com

Dick Lowe Tour October 15, 2017 Submitted by: Cathy Paine Dick Lowe planned this tour a few years ago. There were great roads and lovely scenery. The trees should have been colorful, but the leaves were still falling. It was a perfect setting for this tour. The club has a new weather prognosticator. Steve had his convertible top down the whole trip even as the skies seemed grey. And it did not rain. He must have known. And so the tour had it all a great plan, good weather, beautiful cars and a breakdown. The Paine Mustang stalled out at the first covered bridge and would not start. Luckily, there were several wonderful members who came to the rescue to diagnose the problem and give a ride for the rest of the tour. Dick found some interesting stops and a good restaurant. His directions were meticulous. After lunch, jumper cables were borrowed from Mike Quinn. Jan Smith and Jack Swaney took us back to the Mustang and it started. Many, many thanks for all the help. Jack even followed us most of the way home to make sure we had no more problems. We missed the candy store, but it was a great trip. What would a tour be without a little adventure? www.nhhaclub.com
