September 1 st, 2014 Volume 3, Issue 9 The Monthly Chatter Editor: Michael Till Don t forget to check out our vendors located inside the Shelter House! Bring your tractor up for the tractor parade at noon on Saturday the 20 th. Poor Farmers RV Sales, Service & Campground Inc. 7211 N. Lostcreek-Shelby Rd Fletcher, Ohio 45326 Poorfarmerrvs.com (937) 368-2449 Sept. 18-21, 2014 Check out the crazy deals we are offering on our sales lot and in our parts store. Most of all Have Fun! Individual Highlights: Rodeo News 2 GOLF! 3 Labor Day 4 Watermellon 5 Activity Corner 6 The Carl Springer Memorial Tractor & Engine Show / Flea Market is sneaking up on us fast. Time to get your RVs loaded and your tractors greased. We will be having a huge turnout once again so bring the posse and be ready to eat, sell, shop, ride, pull, and putt around the campground. The Tractor Show is a great example of how something can go from a few guys getting together to enjoy something they know and love, to an event that packs the house twice a year. Don t forget that I will start parking campers and marking flea market spots at about four o clock on Sunday the 14 th. Please be patient with me though, that is the day after my birthday, so I might still be recovering. If you bring your coach in early, there is no cost to set up your site if you don t plug in. If you want to leave your RV plugged in, there is a $3/night charge for the electric. The flea market fees have not changed, it is $35 to flea all weekend, if you are camping the cost is $25/night with a 3 night minimum. If you bring a tractor to display the cost of camping is reduced to $10/night (tractor must be present to receive discount). Some important things to remember: the speed limit is 5 MPH through the campground and it is strictly enforced, quiet hour is 11 o clock, and please try to avoid driving your car through the flea market. Let s all be safe and have a great time. Come out to the Tractor Show and catch up with friends, check out the tractor pulls and don t forget the kiddy tractor pull on Sunday at 1PM. Bring your family and we will see you out here!

The Monthly Chatter Page 2 of 6 It s official The 2014 Golf Cart Rodeo was a huge success! Rick LeVally and the Poor Farmer s Activity Committee made this event one that people will be talking about for a long time. If you didn t race, you definitely saw some golf carts do things that you have never thought a golf cart could do; and if you did race, I m sure you had a smile from start to finish. Thank you to Terry & Debbie Mitchell, Rick & Deb, Denny & Jacque, Kenny & Alice, Ed & Char, Tony & Cherrie, Larry & Barb, Dick & Nancy, Doug & Sue, Darren & Nickie, Jeff & Sheila, Russ LeVally, Troy Scherer w/ Odd Power, Steve Gornoman Gorniack, our Best of Show winner Scott Schueneman, our food vendors, Lee Wyrick for creating the logo, and most of all, Thank You to all of you who participated and supported this event. We hope you enjoyed the show and come back next year.

Page 3 of 6 The Monthly Chatter For the second year in a row, Poor Farmer s RV has hosted the Coachmen State Rally for all Coachmen Clubs in Ohio and 2015 will be the third. We had a great turnout with more than fifty club member s showing up for the event. Becky Brittingham did a wonderful job of organizing the rally, which included a full day of games on Saturday, dinner Saturday night, followed by the Coachmen Decathlon. If you want to know what the decathlon is, I guess you ll have to join the club. I will tell you that Jaiden Ball was one of the coolest games I have ever played. 2014 Carl Springer Memorial Golf Scramble Sept. 6, 2014 The Carl Springer Memorial Golf Scramble will be held at Lakeland GC in St. Paris, Ohio on Saturday, September 6 th, 2014. There is an 8 o clock am shotgun start, so make sure you get there early enough to register, grab some grub, and get your cart loaded. If you have not yet signed up for the outing then get into the parts store or camp office with the names of the golfers on your team. The cost is $50 per golfer and you pay at the course when you arrive. We will be serving Hickory River Barbeque at the firehouse south of Fletcher after you finish your round. There we will also be giving away the awards and the door prizes. Get your balls cleaned up and your clubs buffed for this annual event that will raise funds for our beloved Fletcher Volunteer Fire Department. Coachmen Ohio State Rally Aug. 15 th 17 th, 2014

Page 5 of 6 The Monthly Chatter Watermellon Eating Contest! During our Tractor Show Weekend, we usually don t add any activities just for the simple fact that everyone is so busy pulling or fleaing. However, last year we added a watermelon eating contest on Saturday and the turnout was great. So we will once again see how much watermelon you can shove in your mouth at one time. Be behind the Camp Office at 2PM on Sept. 20 th and see if you have what it takes to be a watermelon champ. Happy Birthday Carol VanPelt! September 13 th! We will be celebrating a great day in history. September 13, 1975 someone very special was born; someone who is charming, good looking, very intelligent, and has saint-like patience. It is also the day that Carol VanPelt was born. We will be celebrating Carol s Birthday in the Big Shelter with a night of karaoke, by Spotlight Productions. To all of you who might want to bring gifts, Carol would enjoy spa treatments, bags of money, or just a card... with money in it. Happy Birthday Carol, there are only a few great people that were born on September 13, and you re one of them. Site of the Month This month s Site of the Month goes to Ken Bailey and Judy Thompson. Ken and Judy are long time friends of Poor Farmer s. A few years ago, they found this little slice of heaven at the back of Hobo Junction. Steve gave Ken permission to develop the land and that s exactly what he did. We now have a beautiful oasis to conclude the tour of the campground; complete with stone walkway, American flag, and enough high tech gadgetry to allow the POTUS to run the country from the coach. Guess we would call it Poor Farmer One. Thank you, Ken & Judy, for creating such a beautiful site.

Activity Committee Meeting 5:00pm on Saturday, September 13 th @ Big Shelter Poor Farmer s RV Sales, Service & Campground Inc. 7211 N. Lostcreek-Shelby Rd. Fletcher, Ohio 45326 PHONE: (937) 368-2449 FAX: (937) 368-2318 E-MAIL: poorfarmersrv@hotmail.com Bring your smiling faces and your great ideas to the Big Shelter at 5 o clock on the 13 th so we can go over what to do different with past events to make them better and organize what will happen with the future events that are left on the schedule. Key points will be the Fall Flea Market (events and security), Halloween events (haunted house, costume contest, etc.), Golf Cart Rodeo (what worked & what didn t), and the end of season pig roast. We will also talk about the process for introducing new members into the committee if there are any campers that would like to get more involved with the activities. Finally we will decide what we want to do as a committee for our end of season celebration. See you on the 13 th! We re on the Web!
