Innovation Week on Renewable Energy Systems SOLAR ENERGY PASSIVE SOLAR TECHNOLOGIES WIND ENERGY OCEAN ENERGY CO GENERATION BIOMASS PHOTOVOLTAIC S HYDRO ELECTRICAL ENERGY CLEAN ENVIRONMENT QUALITY IN LIFE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT A series of events towards a European Summer School on: PV systems engineering and the other R.E.S. Innovation and Intelligent Applications 1-12 July 2012, Patras, Greece The R.E.S. Laboratory of the T.E.I. of Patras, along with other European partner Universities, with the support of the Operational Programme for Education and Lifelong Learning (Greece), organizes a series of events related to the Theory & Practice of Renewable Energy Systems (R.E.S.). These events are sponsored by the E.S.F. of the E.U. and are organized under the frame of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit of the T.E.I. of Patras. 1
Aim & Objectives Students and post graduates, researchers, university staff and professionals. are invited to join the international series of events, such as: Basic and advanced Lectures on R.E.S. Exhibition of R.E.S. products Innovation contest on design and applications in the R.E.S. domain For 12 days, the participants will have the opportunity: 1. to present, debate on technological advancements and exhibit innovative designs on PV & RES, in general 2. to experiment on PV systems and other Solar Energy applications 3. to discuss on new products related to R.E.S. and make up joint groups for innovation products 4. to explore new fields where R.E.S. are to be introduced and provide effective schemes for project proposals. In this series of events: Students and the other participants are invited to take the initiative to exhibit practical applications and innovative products related to R.E.S., that have designed and constructed. This contest within the Exhibition Week of Innovative Design Products is expected to provide opportunities for career development. Interested Enterprises have been invited to join this series of events present and exhibit their innovative R.E.S. systems. Nomination for awards will be processed based on a Jury Committee decision. The old & the new: The Wind Energy in the economic life Attention: 1. For students who are going to exhibit their innovative design products in the special sessions and join the contest, grants will be provided by the Unit of Innovation and Entrepreneurship to cover daily accommodation and meals. 2. The same as above holds for students who are going to present either orally or in posters innovative products or other scientific work related to R.E.S. that may lead to Innovations on R.E.S. products. 3. For the staff and students who come from Universities which are partners of this Innovation Week & Summer School on R.E.S., the accommodation meals will be covered by the project Innovation Week on R.E.S.. 4. For all the others, the Summer School fee is 300. This amount covers the coffee breaks and refreshments, the CD with the training material and the participation in the events. 3

The Lecturers are experts in the domain of R.E.S. and come from partner Universities. Staff from other Universities, may also apply to deliver lectures, in the topics of the programme, shown in: http://solar-net.teipat.gr/ Who can apply Graduates and post-graduates to specialize on P.V. University staff Professionals who require an updating and widening of their horizons and competitiveness Credit transfer The Summer School Curriculum has been widely recognized by the Universities by accounting for 3 ECTS credits. Accommodation For those whose accommodation and meal are not going to be covered by the Innovation Week on R.E.S., the T.E.I. of Patras and the Summer School Steering Committee have succeeded to subsidize the accommodation and breakfast / dinners, charged at very low rates of 15 Euros per night, single or double room accommodation and if requested 15 Euros per day for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Please, note that early registration via email: intoffice@teipat.gr is strongly advised all together for room reservation and participation in this summer event. How to reach the T.E.I. of Patras FROM ATHENS By rail From the El. Venizelos Athens airport take the suburban rail to Kiato. From Kiato take a corresponding bus to Patras, which runs regularly. The Patras' train station is at the center of the city. 6
By bus From El. Venizelos airport, take the express bus X93 (outside door 5). It runs every 35 minutes. The express bus takes you to the intercity coach station called "KTEL Peloponissou", telephone: +30 210 5124910. There are regular coach services every 30 min with a trip time of about 2,5 hours. In Patras, the coach station is located at the centre of Patras, telephone: +30 2610 623886-8 & http://achaiaktel.gr. Both railway and bus stations are very close to each other and with the port. By plane The nearest airport is Araxos, 40 minutes drive from Patras but at the moment serves only charter flights. It's more convenient to land at Athens (El. Venizelos) Airport and then take the suburban train to Kiato and Patras. FROM ITALY There are frequent daily ferry lines to Patras departing from Brindisi, Bari, Ancona and Venice. People are friendly and will professionally welcome and look after you. The cost of tourist life is low especially for dinners outside. If you have special interests like archaeology, history, climbing, diving, sports etc there are many ways to participate.
