AUSTRIA Scalaria Floatplanes Show; Red Bull Museum; Optional Trip to Konigssee & The Eagles Nest Note: NEW DATES! PROVISIONAL ITINERARY & GENERAL INFORMATION Friday, 17 th Monday, 20 th July A relaxing long weekend to Austria where you are free to do as much or as little aviation as you want: perfect for non-aviation partners! We enjoy a full day at the excellent floatplane gathering and airshow that is held each year on Wolfgangsee, attracting aircraft large and small as shown here by the fabulous Dornier Do-24ATT. An optional pleasure flight in the beautiful Beaver, see page 2, and other types may be possible. If interested in a flight please annotate your booking form accordingly. You also have the option of spending time on the excellent viewing deck at Salzburg Airport; also, a wonderful optional - full-day excursion to Lake Konigsee followed by a visit to Hitler s Nest high up on the top of the Kehlstein Mountain in southern Bavaria. A really great day out for only 62.00 per person! We fly with British Airways from London s Gatwick Airport; stay 3 nights in a comfortable standard hotel in Salzburg on a bed and breakfast basis; travel in-country is by specially chartered coach (please see appropriate paragraph on the first page of General Information); and the group is accompanied at all times by an Ian Allan Tour Manager. Our stay in the city of Salzburg coincides with their 2015 Festival. Details can be found on their website: www.salzburgerfestspiele.at/en/programmatik PROVISIONAL ITINERARY (ALL TIMES LOCAL AND APPROXIMATE) DAY 1: FRIDAY, 17 th JULY Between 11:00hrs. and 12:00hrs. please check-in with British Airways in the North Terminal at London s Gatwick Airport. Then meet your Ian Allan Tour Manager and fellow enthusiasts who will be gathering by the check-in area. Recommended latest check-in time is 90 minutes prior to departure, i.e. 12:00hrs.. Gatwick Airport, North Terminal Flight: BA 2652 Departs: 13:30 Salzburg Arrives: 16:30 After Passport Control we collect our luggage from Baggage Reclaim and proceed through Customs; in the Arrivals Hall we meet our driver and board our air-conditioned coach for the short transfer to the Hotel Mercure Salzburg City where we stay 3 nights on a bed and breakfast basis. It has an on-site restaurant and bar and is located in the centre of the city in peaceful, leafy surroundings. Website: www.mercure.com/gb/hotel-0984-hotel-mercure-salzburg-city/index.shtml Tour 227519 Austrian Floatplanes - Provisional Itinerary Issue 1 Page 1 of 6

DAY 2: SATURDAY, 18 th JULY Leaving the hotel at 08:30 hrs. we set off to see the excellent collection of aircraft in Red Bull s Hangar 7 when it opens at 09:00 hrs. Like our previous group, we also hope to be given access to their normally restricted Hangar 8. Website: www.hangar-7.com/en/the-flying-bulls/aircraft/ At 10:30 hrs. we leave for Wolfgangsee, about a 45-minutes drive to the east, the venue for the annual Scalaria Air Challenge airshow. The official flying programme starts at 13:00 hrs. and past shows have featured floatplanes large and small. It may also be possible for optional local sightseeing flights in the immaculate DH Beaver (pictured right), which attended the 2014 event, and/or other types; details to be confirmed when participants are known. Early evening we arrive back at the hotel. DAY 3: SUNDAY, 19 th JULY At 09:00 hrs. depart for the optional visit to Schonau a. Konigssee. Those wishing to spend the day on the observation terrace at Salzburg Airport will be dropped off en-route (and picked up at the end of the day), or you may transfer to /from the airport at a time of your own choosing and expense. Having travelled through some spectacular Austrian and Bavarian scenery we arrive at Lake Konigssee; the morning is free with the opportunity to enjoy a fabulous, optional, cruise: only bookable on the day, but definitely recommended. Lunch, at your own expense, can be taken at one of the many restaurants located in the village and on the lakeshore. At midday we continue to Obersaltzberg, to the Hinterneck parking area. Here we join an English-speaking tour and board the special coach and take the road leading from Obersalzberg (formerly Hitler's home and southern headquarters) to the Eagle's Nest parking lot: as you will see the road s construction is a feat of engineering! Perched at 6,017ft (1,834m) the building itself was a project of Martin Bormann's and given to Adolf Hitler for his 50 th birthday as a teahouse for diplomats. The Eagle's Nest remained unscathed from the bombings by the Allied Forces during WWII, and since 1952 it has been open to the public as a mountaintop restaurant with spectacular views. Due to its high elevation, the Eagle's Nest is open in summer only. A truly memorable visit. The price for this fabulous, full day excursion is 62.00 each and includes the coach and a guided tour of the Eagle s Nest. Website: www.kehlsteinhaus.de/en/kehlsteinhaus.php?navid=1 At around 17:00 hrs. we depart for the hotel, collecting any members of the group at Salzburg airport. DAY 4: MONDAY, 20 th JULY This morning you are free to enjoy some leisure time in the city; or travel out to the airport before the main group, at your own expense, and spend some time on the excellent observation terrace. At 09:15 hrs. our coach departs the hotel for Salzburg Airport. Latest recommended check-in time with British Airways is 10:15 hrs. Salzburg Flight: BA 2653 Departs: 11:45 Gatwick Airport, North Terminal Arrives: 12:40 Whilst waiting in Baggage Reclaim we bid each other farewell until the next time! Why not extend this long weekend break please call to discuss your plans. Tour 227519 Austrian Floatplanes - Provisional Itinerary Issue 1 Page 2 of 6

Every hour of every day consular staff around the world are advising and helping British nationals. For up-to-date passport, visa and security information, we suggest you visit www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice In addition, the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) provides both a web site http://abta.com/gotravel and an Information Line, telephone: 020 3117 0599. This line is open between the hours 10:00 16:00, Monday-Friday (excluding bank holidays). Coach Travel only use coaches chartered from reputable companies, with a driver. Where we have had to cancel a tour, due to the small number of bookings, we have looked at the possibility of renting a 16-18 seater minibus, with our tour manager driving. However, without exception, the hiring of such a vehicle is illegal if any of the occupants make any payment towards the rental price, fuel and/or other expenses - known as for hire or reward. Any such rental, made without these facts being known to the rental company at the time of booking, also invalidates all insurance covering the vehicle, contents and persons. The DVLA has also confirmed that any for hire or reward rental could breach the normal driving classification of a standard UK driver s license. Therefore, we do not undertake any tours using 9-18 seater minibuses from a rental company; either with our tour manager, or a member of the group, driving. Baggage Regulations British Airways Departing from London s Gatwick Airport Checked Baggage: British Airways will transport 1 piece of checked baggage per person free of charge, the total dimensions of which must not exceed 190cm x 75cm x 65cm (75in x 29½in x 25½in), including the handle, pockets and wheels.
