Thank you Marvin for air conditioning in model A s. Otherwise us guys would be riding around by ourselves. We are saddened at the loss of a very dear friend. Shirley Nicholson was taken away from us suddenly on August 15th. We will miss her greatly. Our hearts go out to Johnny for his loss. On August 11, we went to the Will Rogers Fly-In at the Will Rogers Ranch near Oologha. We saw several very nice older airplanes and some interesting newer airplanes. We started with 8 cars, 7 made the trip, mine lost its radiator cap and blew water back on the coil and had to rest by the road for a couple of hours. At our August 21 meeting, Bryan Smith of Ideaship Studios, the man who took the aerial pictures at our 50th Anniversary Party, brought some of his drones (un maned flying vehicles) with him. He gave us some history and applications of drones both commercial and sport. He gave us and overview of some of the rules that govern the flying of drones and a demonstration of how to fly a drown and most of all he let me fly one. That was great, it was easy. Thank you Bryan. Breakfast for September will be the 8th at the Golden Coral. After breakfast the Club will go to the Circle Theater at Lewis and Admiral for a silent movie at 11 a.m. Phil Judkins plays the organ before and after the movie. Play day is October 20th at the same place we had it last year. Fall tour is October 26-28 to Davis, Sulphur, and Pauls Valley. We are staying at the Hampton Inn & Suites, 108 S Humphrey, Pauls Valley. Phone 405-238-7700, $89.00 plus tax. Discount code SOO Sooner Model A Club. Get your reservations in soon. It is time to start looking for board members and officers for next year. If you would like to serve next year, please contact one of the present board members. May the Ford be with You, Don Reed

Nuts & Bolts (Or Miscellaneous Tidbits) by Ken Brust With deepest sympathy to Johnny Nicholson and family at the sudden passing of Shirley. Our thoughts are with you. Those who attended the Will Rogers Fly-In enjoyed a good time and fairly pleasant weather. Will s great-granddaughter, Jennifer, was there again who we have all met in previous years and loves our Model As. Fewer aircraft were in attendance than in past years since the pilots are getting older and there are not as many younger pilots picking up the hobby. Sounds like a familiar problem faced by many dwindling Model A Ford Clubs. Fortunately, our Tulsa Club continues with a steady base and has several younger members who stay active. It was heartwarming to see Audrey drive a Model A into the Oolagah ranch with youngsters in the back seat. Thanks to Chris DuVall, Charlie and Samantha Ramsey, David Lonsdale and all of you other youngsters, including all you ladies, of course, in helping to keep us at least young at heart! The Tuesday morning coffee group continues rolling with about 8-12 members arriving each Tuesday morning. The group has even, unintentionally, attracted a stranger, a lonely person, which has caused some uneasy awkwardness. Brian Smith presented an interesting program on drones at our August meeting. The program in September includes a trumpet player who plays Taps at military funerals which we think should be interesting as well. The Rumble Sheet - 2 - September 2018 Time is running out for us to gather our Model As at the Tuesday afternoon car rally on corner of 91st and Memorial. Anyone interested in getting a group together some Tuesday evening before the season ends to show those hotrod and muscle car owners what a real car is like? Tory, Jerry, Linda and I had an opportunity recently to tour The Gathering Place on a sneak preview tour. It is more impressive and more incredible than we even anticipated. It is really a first class park so when it opens in a couple of weeks, I encourage you to go check it out. Happy Trails until we meet again.

Congratulations 9607 S Memorial Drive, Tulsa, OK The Rumble Sheet - 3 - September 2018

Minutes of Model A Monthly Meeting August 21, 2018 7-8:30pm A group of 40 members was in attendance. Following the flag salute and prayer, President Don Reed expressed condolences to Johnny Nicholson and family on recent passing of Shirley and thanked those who were able to attend services. Jeanne presented a financial report showing a healthy club balance even after the 50th festivities. All expenses for the 50th celebration were covered by sponsors, donations, ads and luncheon tickets. Don Reed, who originally thought it would be a large negative impact to our financial account said he is now a believer! Connie gave update on Charlotte who was scheduled for heart surgery the following morning. Ted is recovering from recent back surgery and is now in a rehab center. Also Charles Smith is recovering from some vertebrae issues in his neck. The Will Rogers fly-in was a fun event which everyone who attended enjoyed. Don reminded everyone that breakfast in September is on SECOND Saturday (Sept. 8) at Golden Corral in order for club to attend silent movie and organ music by Phil Judkins at Circle Cinema. Don also is looking for three Model As to attend a retirement home display on that same Saturday at 10am. The Fall Tour planned by the Sooner Club is in Pauls Valley. Don passed around information on itinerary and hotel contact information. Most of those attending are spending Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights in order to participate in the various scheduled activities (Oct. 25-28). Also PlayDay will be at same Church of Latter Day Saints location as last year. Ken offered parade flags for those who didn t receive one at 50th party. Ken also has a few extra tag toppers at $7 each for those would like one. If anyone wants a flag or tag topper, see Ken. Ken introduced The Rumble Sheet - 8 - September 2018 Brian Smith who presented a very entertaining program on quadcopters or drones. Brian is the one who took the aerial photo at our 50th party. He explained all about the technical aspects of the aircraft, the different sizes, costs and features, and demonstrated flying one after showing several videos he had made using his aircraft. Then he had Don Reed try to fly one and Don managed to get it airborne and landed again without crashing!! Thanks to Brian for the interesting program. Ken presented him a club flag! The door prize of a large group picture of those attending the 50th party was won by Andy and Jackie Dunn. Drinks and tasty cookies were enjoyed throughout the evening until the library ushered us out the door at 8:30pm. Submitted by Ken Brust, Secretary
