Membership Fees It s that time of year where we are all expected to pay our memberships fees, however there are some who have yet to pay their fees. Divisional reps will be approaching individuals who haven t paid, so please assist the Club and ensure all fees are paid. City of Hobart Tournament is being held on Saturday 24th & 25th March. This is an open graded event, to enable all members to play against those of the same ability. If you are interested, entry forms are available at the hall or enter online. Join me on court to make this event one of the best attended this year. June Bevin Carnival This event is quickly approaching, and I would like to congratulate the following STBA members, Darcy Webster- Jones, Mathew Sojan, Ben Scott and Tara Thiessen and wish them all the best in Invercargill New Zealand. On Saturday the 17 th of February, the GOSEN Summer Tournament was hosted by the STBA. It was a great tournament, with a round robin format in each event ensuring that players were able to compete in plenty of matches. It was wonderful to see the participation of STBA members. Congratulations to all winners! Results are available through tournament software, and for more photos please visit the GOSEN Australia Facebook page. Thank you to Will Ponsonby and Robert Brockman for their efforts in organising and running the event. A huge thank you to our major sponsor GOSEN Australia for their support.

Entries for the City of Hobart are now open and will close on the 14 th of March. The tournament will be held on the 24 th and 25 th of March. Basic Badminton Skills 6 week course introducing the basic badminton shots. Wednesday s from 7.30pm 8.30pm with a further 30 minutes of optional practice time until 9pm. Commences Wednesday 7th March, finishing Wednesday 11th April. Techniques covered include; Week 1 Clears and drops Week 2 - Net play Week 3 - Backhands Week 4 - Smash and defence Week 5 - Serve (high and low) and return of serve Week 6 - Review and open session Cost $70.00 (all inclusive) for the full 6 weeks, players enrol for the full 6 weeks but can then choose which sessions they wish to attend. All welcome and no minimum skill level required, however, limited to 12 places, first in first served. STBA 2018 Special General Meeting 14 th March 2018 6:30pm H. Thompson Badminton Centre, 101 Cascade Road, South Hobart Purpose A change is being instigated due to what we perceived as the existing auditor failing to fulfil his role as expected. In reviewing options we have subsequently identified savings on the audit front and an alternative auditor. Proposed The S.T.B.A. engage the use of Abacus Accounting for this purpose as their charges are far more competitive. All registered members are invited to attend this meeting.
