IDS ATC Simulator The ATC simulator is the asset upgraded for the SWIM Master Class to become SWIM compliant. The simulator consumes flight plans and weather data for simulations. Main subsystems are: CWP - Collection of applications available at the work station of the flight controller (e.g. radar screen, flights list) PWP - Collection of applications available at the work station of the pseudo-pilot (e.g. flight data and command window) Out The Window: Simulated 3D view for Tower operators 3
Problem Statements To create a much more realistic simulation scenario and environment, using operational data in real time To use standard data formats like (FIXM and iwxxm) and a single access point to connect to SWIM service providers. To check how the weather conditions impact the flight plans. To support distributed simulation require system architectural change and analysis for the participants in the data exchange (to comply with different protocols and formats) Validation maturity assessment for operational ATM concepts in SESAR includes the evaluation of the quality and representativeness of the data and of the simulated scenario 4

Application Description This prototype allows IDS simulation platform, in particular the Air Traffic Simulator, to make requests of weather data and flight plans, provided nominally by Meteo Offices and/or by the Network Manager (Eurocontrol NM B2B and EUMETNET MET-GATE) and is complaint with FIXM V3.0.1 and iwxxm 1.0 Solution overview IDS SWIM service: extensible service used by IDS products (in this case ATCSim) to retrieve, in a standard way (by REST API), data coming from configurable SWIM compliant services IDS ATCSim: simulator of the environment of air traffic control including the airspace managed by local APP and ACC 6

The benefits and next steps Benefits It is a proactive way for improving applied research on interoperability between systems belonging to different organizations; Provides an efficient way for testing the effectiveness of our AIM and ATM innovative solutions. Participating to SESAR SWIM Master Class 2015 has allow to develop a SWIM compliant application for consuming flight plans and Meteo services. The simulation platform uses SWIM-provided real data in order to set up a more realistic simulation environment.
