PVRTMP Update Vision To establish an inclusive and well-managed trail network with a full spectrum of recreational opportunities, fostering: Individual well-being; Community well-being; Economic opportunity; Environmental sustainability; Respect for cultural values.

Mission Statement The Pemberton Valley Recreational Trails Master Plan Update (PVRTMP) will establish a clear vision for the recreational use and development in the plan area, incorporating new land use information and best practices into a long-term strategy document that will guide trail use, maintenance, and development in the Pemberton Valley into the future as trail use and intensity grow, while working to mitigate trail conflicts.

Goals and Objectives Identify and create a variety of trails and trail systems that act as a primary, quality of life experience and key amenity attribute; Act to strengthen regional collaboration and partnerships between The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD); The Village of Pemberton; The Lil wat Nation; Recreation Sites and Trails BC; The Pemberton Valley Trails Association (PVTA), Trail User Groups; and Developers. Foster environmental, economic, and social sustainability and guide the development and management of a robust trail network that: Embraces a diverse range of users; Protects this significant and important asset for the future.

Goals and Objectives Support the recreational, social, and cultural needs of the local community; Create a strategy that works to address unauthorized trail building, and prioritize existing trails for authorization or establishment (as applicable); Strengthen and stimulate economic opportunity, supporting tourism and ecotourism; Create a strategy that addresses maintenance needs and maintenance capacity.

SWOT Analysis STRENGTHS A driving force. Something that is currently being done well and should continue or be amplified. A characteristic that gives the trails and trail network an advantage. WEAKNESSES A restraining force, but not necessarily debilitating. Something that makes sense to strengthen or compensate for. Something the trails or trail network is not good at. OPPORTUNITIES If you were to do this thing, it could create a quantum leap, growth, or deep improvement in value as a trails network or trails destination. THREATS Something that could derail the trails system. Threats are something that must be accommodated for or acknowledged in an effort to work around them or gain some degree of control over them.

Strengths What makes Pemberton and the surrounding area unique? What are the area s natural attributes? What brought you here/what keeps you here? What are the strengths of the existing trail network?

Weaknesses What are the drawbacks to living in Pemberton and the surrounding area? What are its limitations? What would chase you away? What are the drawbacks of the existing trail network?

Opportunities What are the physical opportunities (recreational, environmental)? What are the social opportunities? What are the economic opportunities? How can volunteerism/engagement be increased?

Threats What are the physical or environmental threats? What are the social threats? What are the economics threats?

Mapping/Dotmocracy Favourite Trails (Red Dots): o Where would you take a guest? Most Frequently Used Trails (Green Dots): o Which trails do you use constantly? (e.g. To walk your dog, to go for a run) Staging Areas (Yellow Dots): o Where are staging areas or improvements to staging areas needed? (parking, outhouses, kiosks etc.)
