The weather was perfect in the 70s with light wind all day. It did rain one day but for only a short period. There were 648 trailers attending the meeting as announced in the General Session. Region 6 was first in donations to the Cents for Youth with $3,000, and the next was Region 8 with $2,355. The total collection was $10,000 given to a local child with cancer who must have treatment once a week and travels to spend the night at the hospital. He and his mother attended the closing session. There was $405 collected in tabs and given to local charity. The Entertainment was different this year. A Timber jack Exhibition was given as a special entertainment sponsored by the City of Escanaba. Continued on Page 2 1

He involved the crowd with jokes and participation. Great Show. The next night Doug MacCraw entertained a full house, with hypnosis show and comedy routine. Airstream Betty was on Tuesday night. This was a harmonizing singing group with three vocalists-friends getting together. The Band concert was on Wednesday with music with movie themes and military marches. The Talent Show with Airstream Members was the entertainment on Thursday. There was some real talent including past professional singers in the show. Antsy McClain was on Friday, a singer and humorous speaker who showed slides from his background. The meeting had 27 vendors from all parts of the country and all phases of the airstream- parts, awnings, curtains, mopeds, SkyMed, purses, earring crafts, embroidery shirts, axles, cleaning products, RV insurance, water purification, solar energy systems, loomed rugs, Crystal Creations, Crafts for dogs, etc. Seminars were given throughout the meeting- Solar tech, Iphone Demo, Walker electric (soft-starts for A/ C), membership ideas, Precision Satellites, Zip Dee, Pressure Cookery, Mac the Fire Guy, maintenance roundtable, Micro Air, Dri Wash N guard, Social Media, caravan training, Pasty making, History of Caravans, Dexter Axle, Blue Ox, Mary Kay, Airstream Parks, Amateur radio FCC test, update from Airstream HQ, men s Feedback on things to change on the Airstream, making your rig as an escape Pod, and members idea share on Annual Meetings. International Rally.. continued Financially the Wally Byam Airstream Club is doing well. The Revenue for 2016 was $560,000 and the Expenses were $596,000. The loss will be made up from the Annual Meeting income. The Assets are $710,000. However there will be many changes in the future for Treasurers of the units. International Board of Trustees (IBT) considered 18 motions for changes to the By-Laws. Most of the changes consist of new financial management Betty & Band Entertainment at IBT actions. A brief discussion will be at the meeting at Henry Horton Annual election on September 14-17. Region 6 President Ken Ridenour held a dinner for the region at Ferdinand s Mexican restaurant in Escanaba, which was well attended as it expanded into the next room. There were approximately 80 people attending. The next International Annual meeting will be in Salem, Oregon in 2018, and the 2019 meeting will be in Doswell, Virginia (North of Richmond. At the meeting in Escanaba, MI, it was announced that International Board of Trustees in session the Wally Byam Airstream Club has 7,000 members presently, the largest of any RV group. The new President Jim Cocke was installed, along with 1 st VP-Barry Bell, 2 nd VP Mona Heath and 3rd VP Andy Selking. The Installation of the International Officers for 2017-2018 was conducted on Saturday July 29. Most of the attendees began leaving on Sunday, July 30. MAINTENANCE QUICK TIPS-#1 Bearings should be packed every year or 12,000 miles Torque wheels after removal at 25miles and 100miles Loosen spring on torque wrench after checking There should be a click and bolt engaged to check torque Torque Alum wheels between 100 and 120 Ft Lbs.
