BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM G.6 (For mmediate Release) August 5, 957 BANK DEBTS TO DEMAND DEPOST ACCOUNTS Bank debs to demand depos accounts, except interbank and Government accounts, as reported by banks in 344 leading centers for the month of July aggre gated $20 billion. During the past three months debs amounted to $59 billion or 6.8 per cent above the total reported for the corresponding period a year ago. At banks in New York Cy there was an increase of f.2 per cent compared wh the corresponding three-months period a year ago; at 6 other centers the increase was 6.4 per cent; and at 337 other centers was 6.7 per cent. Preliminary estimates of the annual rates of turnover of demand deposs in July are 49.5 at New York Cy, 30.5 at 6 other centers, and 23.6 at 337 other centers.
