September ly, 1923* BANK DEBITS Bank debits for the week ending September 12 aggregated $ S,339,000,000, or abc.it 12 per cent above the total of $7,438,000,000 reported for the preceding week which contained only five business days. The increase for New York City was $293,000,000, or about 9 per cent. Relatively large increases are also shewn for Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Los Angeles, 3oston, and Philadelphia. v As compared with the corresponding period of last year, total debits for the week under review show a decrease of $216,000,000, or about 3 Per cent% All the large centers show increases over 1922, except New York which reports a decrease of $650,000,000, or of 15 per cent, and San Francisco which reports a decrease of $14,000,000, or of 9 per cent. Debits to individual accounts were reported to the Federal Reserve Board for oanks in 252 centers of which 248 are included in the summary by Federal reserve districts.
