GVK KIA has clocked 15.4 million passengers in FY 2014-15 and has now established itself as South India s busiest and India s third largest airport. Amongst the many awards announced, Indigo was awarded the Domestic Airline of the Year while Emirates won the International Airline of the Year second time in a row. Mock counter terrorist exercise at GVK CSIA A mock counter terrorist exercise was conducted by CISF at GVK CSIA in coordination with the Mumbai Police. The aim of the exercise was to create awareness among all relevant stakeholders about the processes and respective functions to be owned up in a real-life situation. GVK CSIA distributes solar lamps GVK CSIA distributed 100 solar-powered LED lamps to the tribal inhabitants residing at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP). The initiative will immensely help the tribals, who ironically, even though residing in such close proximity to a metro city like Mumbai, never had access to electricity till date. This initiative would enable children to study even after dusk and allow inhabitants to keep away from wild animals. Solar LED lamps being distributed by GVK CSIA to the tribals at SGNP GVK KIA creates record for largest Fire Truck Water Arch GVK KIA welcomed the arrival of AirAsia India s fourth A320 - The Pioneer that has a livery dedicated to JRD Tata with the largest Fire Truck Water Arch (FTWA) ever created that measured at 74.44 metres high. This FTWA is exactly the same height as the Taj Mahal. A special award dedicated to GVK KIA s Taj Mahal FTWA has been created by anna.aero. GVK KIA also welcomed the Malaysian Airlines MASKargo s first freighter with a traditional water canon salute.
