Uno..Dos.Poof, he disappeared without a Tres. PRESIDENTS PARTY THANK YOU A great big THANK YOU to all those members who attended our second President s Party. It was such a thrill for Kathy and I to host so many good people at our home on October 13. There is so much history and good will among our members. So many good times and even tough times. This party brought together many old dear friends. You could feel the energy. And we extended that heritage by welcoming several of our newest members this year. I want to take a moment to thank a few folks who went above expectations. - Mo Collins who again was a huge help in the kitchen. - Linda Peduto/Ted Elicker for helping to set up and serve. - Jeff Lucas for bringing beer, wine, and chairs. - Deb Curran (new member) more kitchen duty. - Dan (the Man) Dacey for keeping the fire burning in the fireplace. - Tom Ward for keeping the fire burning in the fire pit. - Phil Shiner for manning the check-in table. And, of course, Dan Marinacci for taking the photos. I am sure there were more that I did not see. Thank you to you all. Regardless, your presence alone was an important contribution to the success of the party. But there is one member above all that deserves a special THANK YOU. The person that planned the menu, ordered the food, shopped, prepared more food, decorated and cleaned the house, and even brushed the dogs; Kathy Schroeder. It should have been called the Kathy Schroeder s Party. Mountains aren t just funny.they re hill-areas. FAIR HILL HORSE TRAIL RIDE October 14, 2018 October 14th did not start as intended. The plan was to enjoy crisp fall air warmed only by a low but full sun dappling through brilliant blazes of reds, yellows, and oranges painting the rolling hills of northern Maryland. Instead our trip began with light showers, and a dull fall patina of greens and brows which to date still lacks the promised blazes of color. But as a wise someone once said you can t control the weather. It does seem however, that of late BVSA has a friend in St. Medard because when we arrived in Fair Hill the weather improved and gave way to a fine afternoon. There were 8 of us; 3 young folks who were experiencing their very first activity with the Club and another 5 which were only slightly younger than the 8 horses who rallied for our late afternoon ride around the 5600 acre Fair Hill Natural Resources Area. Hills, Dales, Pastures, Forests and Streams were enjoyed by all with nary an unfortunate event. The crew adjourned to the nearby Fair Hill Inn which lore has it is not haunted by William DuPont; but is a fine example of an 18th century Inn offering tasty wines by the glass and small bites. All in all a good afternoon, which was not marred by yet another Philadelphia Eagles melt down, and had some in the group vowing to enjoy a BVSA Authentic Western Dude Ranch trip in 2020. Any other takers?... - Tim Noonan 8
