NORTH EAST FEDERATION ON INTERNATIONAL TRADE (NEFIT) Organizational Profile in Brief NORTH EAST FEDERATION ON INTERNATIONAL TRADE (NEFIT) North East Federation on International Trade (NEFIT) is a non-government trade organisation and nodal trade body of Exporters and Importers of North East India, established on 7 th February, 2002 with its registered office in Shillong. NEFIT is recognised by the Union Ministry of Trade and Commerce, Government of India to issue Certificate of Origin as specified in the Handbook of Procedures for EXIM trade. Since its inception NEFIT has been working selflessly in the North East region of the country to facilitate International Trade with neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and also Thailand. We have been part of many advisory committees which had been set up by various Government agencies with regards to formulation of Trade and Industrial Policies for the North Eastern states. We are instrumental in earning revenues for the country s coffers in terms of Foreign Exchange through International Trade practices. Apart from that we have also actively participated in establishing good bilateral relationship with neighbouring countries through our various engagements with Trade Associations of those countries. NEFIT has already signed a number of MOUs with different Chambers of Commerce like I. Chitagong Chambers of Commerce and Industries, Bangladesh (CCCI) II. III. IV. Dhaka Chambers of Commerce and Industries, Bangladesh (DCCI) Shylhet Chambers of Commerce and Industries, Bangladesh (SCCI) Union of Myanmar Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Myanmar (UMFCCI) V. MoU signed at Tamu with Tamu - Kalay Border Trade Chamber of Commerce, Union of Myanmar. VI. VII. MoU signed with Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce, Chiang Mai, Thailand MoU signed with YIWU Trade City, Baoshan, P.R. China Mou signed with International Trade Promotion Federation of Baoshan, P.R. China

ACTIVITIES OF NEFIT IN BRIEFTHE FOLLOWING ARE SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES IN THE RECENT PAST (In reverse chronological order) September 14 th 20 th September 2018 NEFIT Intellectual Delegation to 2018 Chengdu Dialogue on South Asia (Pan-Asia) Production Capacity Cooperation to present a paper on connectivity issue, related to reopen of Stilwell Road. June 16 th 23 rd June 2018 NEFIT Trade and Economic delegation to visit Baoshan, Tengchong and Kunming, P R. China, with an objective to explore the possibility of Trade & Business, Educational & Cultural exchange programmes and other possible areas of co-operation & business opportunities between the two neighbouring counties more particularly Assam & NE states January 11 th 02 nd February 2018 Successfully organized the 1st NEFIT INDIA - ASEAN ROADSHOW CUM FRIENDSHIP CAR RALLY 2018 From Guwahati of North East India and back via Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand. This is a kind of confidence building measure that will open up a new dimension of overland trading and dispel many doubts of prospective traders. The follow-up action of the Act East Policy of the Government of India is creating a bright economic prospect of overland trade of commodities of North East India with South East Asian countries through the India-Myanmar- Thailand Trilateral Highway and Asian Highways 1 & 2 which will make ASEAN boundaries adjacent to India.

June 10 th June 19 th 2017 NEFIT had taken a Trade Delegation and entrepreneurs from North Eastern Region and Participated in South & Southeast Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair from 12-18 June, 2017 at Kunming, P.R. China January - March 2017 NEFIT had successfully organized 15 (fifteen) Awareness Programme on Zero Defect, Zero Effect (ZED) Certification Scheme as per the 2016 Ministry of MSME Guideline in Association with National Board of Quality Control (NBQC), Quality Council of India, (QCI) Govt. of India, New Delhi, in different states of the North Eastern Region. May 22 nd June 9 th 2016 Successfully organized the 1 st India Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Car Rally, a tri nation car expedition with an aim for building relationship for better understanding and friendship and to promote produce and products of India in new emerging markets of Myanmar & Thailand. Officials, Entrepreneurs, Exporters/Importers, Professional, April May 2016 November 17, 2015 NEFIT had Successfully organized Practical Risk Assessment as per ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System) in association with National Board of Quality Control (NBQC), Quality Council of India, (QCI) in the state of Meghalaya, Mizoram and Manipur NEFIT NE India Delegation for BCIM Economy Co-operation overland Road Journey from Guwahati to Kunming, P.R. China

June 18, 2015 Assam Pioneer Economic and Cultural Co- Operation Delegation to Baoshan and Kunming under aegis of NEFIT June, 2014 NEFIT had taken a team in the month of June 2014 of its members and participated at SAHA group trade fairs held at Queen Sirikit Convention Centre, Bangkok. May 21 st -25 th May, 2014 NEFIT members also participated at the Bangkok International Trade fair (THAIFEX) held at impact from 21-25 May, 2014. 7 th May 14 May, 2013 NEFIT in association with office of the Commercial Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy, New Delhi organized a delegation of Ministerial team along with High ranking officials from the department of Agriculture and took them to Thailand. NEFIT along with the Board of Investment of Thailand (BoI) organized a number of meetings, seminars, etc., at Bangkok / Chiang Mai, and also explored trade and investment opportunities in both the countries. 31th January 5 th February, 2013 NEFIT organized an Exposure cum Study tour comprising of Officials from the Directorate of Horticulture and Food Processing, Govt. of Assam to Chiang Mai Flower Festival in Thailand. 11 th March 22 nd March, 2012 Successfully organized the 1st Indo Myanmar Friendship Car Rally, a Trade and Friendship expedition from Guwahati Yangon (Myanmar) Guwahati comprising of Corporate Executives, Govt. Officials, Entrepreneurs, Exporters / Importers, Professional, etc.

8 th September 9th September, 2011 NEFIT represented North East India at the Tri-Nations Business Conference and a workshop on Buyers and Sellers meet held at Chiang Mai, Thailand. Trade representatives from Assam, Manipur, Nagaland and Tamil Nadu attended the meet. NEFIT presented a paper on Connectivity and Trade in the perspective of North East India, Myanmar and Thailand. 20 th August 27 th August., 2011 NEFIT had taken a High Level Trade Delegation to Hangzhou, P.R China under the leadership of Ex. Hon ble Industry Minister, Govt. of Assam, Shri Pradyut Bordoloi for Trade & Exposure on Bamboo Technology. 17 th April 18 th April, 2011 A seminar was organised jointly with SHEFIXCIL, Govt. of Manipur, on Panel discussion on border trade at Moreh, Manipur. 18th April, 2011 Visit to Indo-Myanmar Border (Moreh / Tamu) by DGFT, Manipur State Official & NEFIT. September, 2010 February, 2010 NEFIT officials had meeting with H.E Ambassador of India at Indian Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar. Presentation on Border Trade by NEFIT at North East India Bangladesh Trade & Investment Conclave at Dhaka, Bangladesh. 8 th January 9 th January., 2010 Presentation on Border Trade by NEFIT on Connectivity between India and her Eastern Neighbours: Emerging Physical, Economic and Cultural Networks at Calcutta University at Kolkata. 17 th May, 2010 MoU signed with Tamu - Kalay Border Trade Chamber of Commerce, Union of Myanmar.

16 th May 17 th May, 2010 Buyers / Sellers cum ground level officials meet held at Tamu in Myanmar, organized by NEFIT and funded by the Govt. of Manipur, Imphal. The meet was attended by officials of Indian & Myanmar Customs, Borders Trade Director of Myanmar, State officials of Manipur Govt. and Exporters & Importers of Moreh (India) and Tamu (Myanmar). November, 2009 4 th September, 2008 2007 A Trade Delegation comprising of Business delegates and State Govt. officials of Nagaland were taken to Yangon in Myanmar, which was a joint effort of the Govt. of Nagaland and NEFIT. Indo-Bangla Exporters and Importers Conclave was organized at Pinewood Hotel, Shillong. In this meet many Bankers and Importers from Bangladesh had attended. NEFIT Trade Delegation was attended North East Business Summit in Bangkok (Thailand) under the MDA given by SHEFEXIL 11 th March, 2006 Organised a seminar on Border Trade and Look East Policy at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi during North East Trade Fair in association with ITPO, New Delhi. Many resource persons from the Govt. sectors and the Private sectors had participated along many diplomats from various embassies of Southeast Asian Nations based in New Delhi. This programme was funded by North Eastern Council, Govt. of India, Shillong. 22 nd October 24 th October, 2005 NEFIT had organized a seminar on Minor Forest Produce in association with SHELLAC Export Promotion Council, Kolkata on 22nd October 2005 at Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, Guwahati and 24th October, 2005 at Pinewood Hotel at Shillong, Meghalaya, DGFT from Ministry of Commerce and officials of North Eastern Council, Shillong also attended.

17 th February, 2004 Successfully organized a Seminar on Special Economic Zone Feasibility and Prospects at Pinewood Hotel in Shillong. The meet was attended by Director General of Foreign Trade, Govt. of India and various Export Promotion Council & EOU. It was funded by North Eastern Council, Shillong and organized by NEFIT. 11 th July 12 th July, 2003 Organised a seminar on Export Promotion cum Buyers & Sellers meet at Shillong funded by North Eastern Council, Shillong in which Bangladesh Chittagong Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Sylhet Chamber of Commerce & Industry and various Export Promotion Councils from Kolkata / New Delhi, and also various officials from Govt. of India and states of the North Eastern Regions have attended and participated.
