However, through the years of camping, October is rewarding. A beautiful trip to the campground, a wonderful gathering of members, (fellowship) Adventure and FOOD, what more could you want. This next rally will be no different. Hope to see you there. I find myself thinking of the many rallies and caravans we have attended. Oh, what MEMORIES! RECOVERING: Thanks to all who have sent cards, e-mails, and telephone calls during my illness. I had been on the Kidney Transplant list for four years and on July 20, 2013, I received a new kidney. I am very thankful to God and the donor family who made this possible. After several weeks of recovering, I went through another surgery to remove the old native kidney that had two large, staghorn stones and was causing a serious infection. This was a rough surgery, but I'm getting better and just yesterday, October 8, I got the staples and stitches out. The new kidney is working great. Dan and I hope to attend the October Rally, so maybe we will see some of you there. Beth Zile --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Springfield rally is now a very nice memory. As hosts, Joe and Nita Bublis and Paul and Barbara Muehlher provided a wonderful time along with lots of good times and great FOOD. We had some old friends join us, Brian Hogue and Jane Jameson. Others attending were Larry and Tootie Mayes, Ed Knernschield, the Sinister Sisters Jerre Purvis and Lyn Masterson, and Ray and JoAnn Kolley. Mary Ann Braden and Berta stayed in a motel close by. There were so many things to do, it was hard to choose. Several toured the Dana-Thomas House. This is one of Frank Lloyd Wright s early Prairie houses. It is one of the largest and most elaborate residences designed by Frank Lloyd Wright during his seventy-year long career. The house contains more than one hundred pieces of original Wright-designed white oak furniture, which is still in place, and along with two hundred fifty art glass doors, windows and light panels it is truly a masterpiece. Several people enjoyed the Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum, along with several school groups. If you haven t been there, it truly is a very interesting and entertaining site. One unique site a couple of us went to is the Cozy Dog Drive Inn. It s supposed to be the home of the original Cozy Dog. They were very good. Lincoln s New Salem, Veterans Memorial, Lincoln s Tomb were also a popular sites. A great time was had by all, Thanks to Joe, Nita, Paul and Barbara! 3

A motion was made by Joe Bublis that we approve the list of nominees as read. The motion was seconded by Ray Kolley. A vote was called and the motion was unanimously carried. Ed Knernschield asked for someone to volunteer for the office of 3rd Vice President but no one volunteered. He cited that Delta Unit was disbanding because they could not get anyone to fill the offices and stated that the same thing could happen to our unit if no one stepped up. Mary Ann Braden said that she and Dan Zile wrote to Delta Unit and asked that those remaining join our unit rather than becoming members at large. Our unit will be given the Delta Unit's equipment. Caravan Chairman Ed Knernschield stated that he had nothing to report at this time. Community Service Tootie Mayes read a letter provided to her by Beth Zile. The letter was from Steven Nardizzi, Executive Director of the Wounded Warrior Project thanking our unit for our gift of $1,257.38 to the Wounded Warror Project.
