Camporee will continue regardless of the weather. You have the high potential of getting wet and/or muddy, be prepared! Sign up to get text alerts from Camporee staff in the event of severe weather. Each unit is expected to follow Emergency Action Plans, Camporee staff will work to keep units updated as needed. Check In: Check in for the Troops/Webelos are October 19th from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Set up camp and an adult leader will bring the completed Troop/Webelos attendance roster and any remaining fees to the District/Camporee Headquarters. Final check-in will occur Saturday Morning at Camporee HQ. Vehicles should will be removed from campsites by 9:30 AM on Saturday. Please limit driving after dark. EACH UNIT is required to verify their numbers by 10AM on Saturday. Bring 2 3 Foot pieces of at least ¼ rope. (See games for details) Fees: Registration fees for Scouts and Scouters are $12.00 per person. Webelos fees are $12.00 each for youth and adults if staying 2 nights. Webelos fees are $9.00 each for youth and adults if staying 1 nights. Payments can be made on-line or in person at September or October Roundtables. Checks are to be payable Heart of America Council. The fees help cover the cost of the awards and facility costs. Leadership: The policy of the Heart of America Council and the Boy Scouts of America states that a certified youth protection trained adult over the age of 21 and have TWO DEEP LEADERSHIP in attendance for your scout group outing. It is the unit s responsibility to provide this leadership not the Camporee staff. Each unit should be prepared to provide leadership at the Camporee and at any of the events, so we can insure the best program for the scouts. A scout is Trustworthy: If any scout loses anything they should check with the lost & found at the District Headquarters. If any scout finds anything he should turn it at the lost & found at the District Headquarters. First Aid: Every Troop and Pack in attendance should have signed copies of parental consent for medical treatment for those in attendance, health form. responsible for its own first aid. If there is a need for additional help please contact the District Headquarters ASAP. Safe Scouting: Review the Guide to Safe Scouting with all in attendance so you are familiar with the Scouting policies. Use of tobacco products is not allowed for any scout. Use of tobacco products by adults is not allowed in any of the program areas including campfire, opening closing ceremony. Please also remember to follow Youth Protection guidelines, keep in mind this is the first District event since forming Girl units. We are expecting to have some young ladies and young men attending from the Webelos units. A Scout is clean: Foul language will not be tolerated at the Camporee. Uniforms: The Scout uniform for Camporee will be Class B Campsites: Packs Camping with Girl Dens If your pack is coming with Girls either as a Den or pack you will need to Camp in the Blue Area. If your planning to camp with your Linked Troop they will need to camp in the Green area. Troops Camping with Linked Dens with Girl Units If you want to camp near your pack you will need to camp in the Green area. Campsites marked in Purple will be on first come basis. There will be no vehicles in a campsite. Absolutely no ditches are to be dug around your tent. All fires must be off the ground. Charcoal or wood may be used for your cooking fires. Bring your own fuel for your fire, wood is not available at the campsite. Any remaining wood should be taken with you when you check out. Ashes should be out cold and dispersed or hauled away. Please contact HQ prior to camping in Green areas, No troops my camp in the blue area. We need to reserve the Green camping areas for those Troops that wish to camp with their Linked Pack. NO LIQUID FUEL FOR FIRES. Water: Water will be on-site freeze proof hydrants are around the camping areas. Haul your own trash out of your campsite, there is no place for disposal of your trash at the campsite. A Scout is friendly: The Camporee staff feels it is important that your chartered partner and charter organization representative see your troop in action. Please invite them out for a visit on Saturday maybe for dinner and stay for the campfire. Webelos leaders, their parents are encouraged to come to Camporee. Fishing Derby Overview: Inviting any Scout, we are having an open fishing Derby. Prizes will be awarded for the most fish caught and the largest fish caught. Come on down to the lake near the HQ area. We will have limited number of extra forms on-site. Troops please have your scouts print and bring copies if they wish to participate. Rules: 1. Fishing is done during activity hours a. 9:00 am 11:30 and 1:00 pm 4:00 pm 2. Fishing license will be required as required my Missouri Fish and Game a. Youth over age of 15 permit required 3. Rules: 2018 GOLDEN EAGLE - DISTRICT FALL CAMPOREE Pioneering Competition Overview: Lashings is an important Scout Skill. For this event you will take your creativity and lashing skills to the test. Each unit is encouraged to construct a gateway / Entrance into your campsite. 1. Judging will begin at 2:30, staff will start walking around to score your entrances. a. All work must be completed by 2:30 pm on Saturday 2. Work is to be done exclusively by Scouts. a. Only rope may be used to secure your gateway. b. Scouters, this means hands off for you. 3. Cooking Competition Rules: Overview: Cooking is an important Scout Skill. Beyond cooking with traditional Scout cooking vehicles, this becomes more of a challenge. Today, your patrol will set forth a feast for our panel to judge you on your creativity and delivery. Scouts can bring any one of the following items for judging. All items judged must include the secret ingredient. Main Dish Side Dish Desert 1. Entries must be to the judging area by 6:00 PM. a. Entries will be delivered in a container provided by the Camporee Staff. This container will be marked with a number assigned to your patrol/unit by the staff. Any identification beyond this number could result in disqualification. b. If you bring it to the panel too early, it may be cold and therefore not receiving as good of a score. 2. Preparation is to be done exclusively by Scouts. a. Safe food handling is a requirement. b. Scouters, this means hands off for you. c. All food and cooking equipment is to be provided by the unit. The Camporee staff will have no materials for units to use. 3. Scouts will have Brief Question and Answer from Camporee staff a. They need to be able to provide details about the item being judged b. Cooking method 4. The mystery ingredients must be used. a. The mystery ingredient will be revealed with enough time to come up with a good menu and delivered to the units via Constant Contact. b. The mystery ingredient must be supplied by the units. No mystery ingredients will be supplied by the Camporee Staff. Staff discusses the importance of fitness and fitness basics, e.g., warm up, cool down, proper hydration, clothing, etc. - 10 Minutes Scouts demonstrate skills learned: Requirement 1: Have the scouts explain why you should warm up before exercising and cool down afterward. Have them demonstrate the proper way to warm up and cool down? Requirement 2: Do these activities and record your results: 1. 20-yard dash 2. Vertical jump 3. Lift a 5-pound weight 4. Push-ups 5. Curls 6. Jump rope Challenge: Elbow Balloon Race 1. Have the Scouts form a circle 2. They must pass the balloon around the circle using only their elbows 3.
