What is a Trackless Train? The Lone Star Express at the Main Plaza, downtown San Antonio, Christmas 2014 H igh quality, realistic-looking trackless trains are a relatively new attraction to the United States, having grown in popularity in Europe and Latin America first. They are large enough to catch the eye and seat children and adults of all sizes, yet small enough to safely run in a wide variety of venues. For example, our Lone Star Express is the first train to be invited to the Main Plaza in downtown San Antonio overlooking the Riverwalk arguably one of the most expensive and historic pieces of real estate in Texas! This generation of trackless trains is not to be confused with cheap barrel trains or small, boring kiddie trains on tracks that run in a short loop at the carnival. This is the type of train every child wants to ride!
About the Lone Star Express The Lone Star Express in front of the San Fernando Cathedral, the oldest active cathedral in the United States. T he Lone Star Express is a trackless train ride made by True American Classics, a U.S. company internationally recognized for their quality, safety and opulent detail and design. They have sold trains to several major zoos, cities and theme parks, such as SeaWorld San Antonio. Fashioned after the glorious steam train era locomotive, the American 4-4-0, our beautiful train features: The latest digital audio technology with each train car outfitted with speakers A microphone for the engineer to make real-time announcements to the passengers and to the surrounding crowd The ability to play custom written stories for a unique and interactive train rides Realistic non-toxic train smoke Authentic train sounds and whistles
Seating for 24 children or 18 adults Rides that last between 8 and 10 minutes long, or 3-4 rides per hour The flexibility to go anywhere there is level ground (no tracks needed!) Full liability insurance according to Texas state requirements Special gas converter that reduces noise and eliminates fumes, and the ability to run non-stop! More than a Train Ride We are a creative and talented team who will make this the most awesome train ride your guests have ever had. The Lone Star Express can feature custom stories, decorations and costumes sure to entertain and delight our riders. This is both an opportunity to entertain while promoting your venue, brand or a specific corporate sponsor. For example, at the historic Main Plaza Silver Bells event in San Antonio, we played the original story, The Christmas Armadillo, incorporating the Main Plaza into the story. It was a huge hit! Here is our story for the 2015 San Antonio Boat & Travel Trailer Show at the Alamodome: *Additionally, our stories can be interactive using props to hide in the venue for the children to spot during the ride or later on.
Picking a Train Route at Your Venue We will work with you to find a small space to set up an attractive train station to load and unload passengers. What makes an ideal route? Mostly level, firm ground (no more than 7% grade per manufacture s safety recommendations) Length of ¼ mile (a loop from beginning to end) Isn t through dense crowds although light crowds are not usually a problem At least 18 feet turning radius space to make a full u-turn, if required on route If there will be heavy foot traffic, we have an extensive system of safety stanchions and railroad crossing signs to carve a path through the areas of concern. Safety is our first priority! We Can Sell Tickets Directly! Depending on the event, we can sell tickets directly to the public, usually about $5 per ticket. We can custom print our tickets to suit your event as well!
Pay a Flat Fee for the Entire Event Bring us to your event for a reasonable flat rate and we ll give out unlimited train rides! We would love to make your event extra special and will work to give you a great price. Bring in a Corporate Sponsor! Every single child and a surprising number of adults will want to ride our train. Our Crew L one Star Trackless Trains is a family-owned and operated business from Seguin, Texas. Our train engineer, Francisco, is a former electrical and mechanical engineer, having worked for the top high-tech companies in the world. And his wife, Melanie, is a writer and train enthusiast, with a background in Texas state politics.
