http://groups.msn.com/antiqueautomushersofalaska Fur Rendezvous Car Show The show will be held at Morrison s Used Car Showroom on March 3 and 4. Fur Rendezvous has made some big changes this year! For our car club the big show will be at a new location. Morrison s Used Car Showroom located at the corner of Dimond and Old Seward Highway. We can start putting our cars in the showroom on Friday evening, March 2, from 5 until 8pm. We will use the east entrance through the cleanup area to their crew, which will help clean up the cars for display. Cars on trailers there can use the front entrances, where the trailers can be backed up to the doors. We will need help manning the courtesy and information table, hanging banners and talking with the people. There is lots of room so get ready to put on a good show! The hours will be from 10am until 6p. each day. (Saturday & Sunday) If we can get 50 cars, it won t be too many, so get out the snow shovels and polishing cloths and lets put on the best Antique Auto Show ever! Dinner: The traditional Saturday night dinner will be held at Henry s Great Alaskan Restaurant right after the show on Saturday at 6pm. Henry s is located one block north of Dimond on the Old Seward Highway at 8001A Seward Highway. We will have reserved seating area and lots of tables we can arrange as we wish. They will also serve beer and wine. ------ Kurt

PAGE 2 President Jim s Corner My Fellow Tinkers, What a great coincidence to have our meeting on Valentines Day! After you take your sweetie out for dinner, come by the meeting for dessert. Many of the seasons events have dates now so mark your calendars. AS usual we could use some help coordinating some of them so feel free to jump in and have some fun. That s one of the reasons this club is so much fun, we don t take ourselves too terribly seriously. My father is taking a drive from Chicago to San Diego this month over the old Route 66. I m just a little jealous while I shovel the snow my roof, anxious for touring to start. ---Jim Officers President: Jim Fredenhagen :243-5214 Vice President : Jeff Hassler : 267-1882 Secretary : Sara Stoops : 345-5592 Treasurer: Howard Hansen 345-1268 Members at Large Peg Stout 2006 LeRoi Heaven 2006 Kurt Rein 2006 Ralph Centoni 2005 Immediate Past Presidents Jim Fredenhagen (2006) Fred Schurman (2005) Diane Allen (2004) Fred Schurman (2001, 2002, 2003) Peg Stout (2000) Ken Stout (1999) Dennis Allen (1998, 1997) George Chase (1995) Editor s Howard and Barbara Hansen Send letters, articles and ads to:, 14840 Loc Loman Lane, Anchorage, AK 99516 E-mail: howbarb@alaska.net (Place in the subject line.) PAGE 4 NEWEST MEMBERS of AAMA. Trivia In 1810 Francios Appert developed the techniques for canning food. The picture on the left is Dave Tullis and his newly acquired 47 Plymouth 5 passenger coupe. Dave and his wife, Barbara, live above us in the Rabbit Creek area. I met him one day as I was out walking. Somehow, I can t quite imagine how we got to talking about old cars and he said he was looking at an old Plymouth. He ended up buying it and we hauled it home to my shop to get it running. A new battery and it started right up. A little more work and it will be a very drivable car. Hopefully it will be ready for the Fur Rondy Show. Some of you may remember the car. It is a light blue metallic and was in the club a few years ago. I can t remember the owner s name, an insurance man, I believe. He showed it at a Rondy show once. ----Howard In 1918 England enacted a 12 hour working day for juveniles. The construction of the Erie Canal began in 1817. It was completed in 1824. It ran from Albany to Buffalo, approximately 300 miles. Thanks to Scott Hulse for the pictures. Installation of AAMA officers for 2007 In the Absence of Master installer, Robbie Robinson, Ken Stout did the honors. He gave us all bobble head clocks. I guess he wants to make sure that we get to the meetings on time. -----Howard

I couldn t concentrate. + Then I worked in the woods as a lumberjack, but I just couldn t hack it, so they gave me the ax. + After that I tried to be a tailor, but I just wasn t suited for it, mainly it was a sew-sew job. + Next, I tried working in a muffler factory, but that was to exhausting. + Then I tried to be a chief - figured it would add a little spice to my life, but I just didn t have the thyme. + I attempted to be a deli worker, but any way I sliced it I couldn t cut the mustard. + My best job was as musician, but eventually I found I wasn t noteworthy. + I studied a long time to be a doctor. but I didn t have any patients. + Next was a job in a shoe factory. I tried but I just didn t fit in. I became a professional fisherman but discovered I just couldn t live on my net income. + So then I got a job in a workout center but they said I wasn t fit for the job. + After many years of trying to find steady work finally got a job as an historian - until I realized there was no future in it. + My last job was working at Starbucks, but I had to quit because it was the same old grind. + SO I TRIED RETIREMENT AND FOUND THAT I M PER- FECT FOR THE JOB! ( Just for fun!) I might be buying a 3-wheeled micro car that currently resides in the Chicago area. If I buy it I m looking for a way to transport it to Anchorage. Rather than go through a commercial transporter, are there any car members moving cars or goods to and from the lower 48 during the next month or two that have a little extra room? Naturally I will share expenses. In case I have to go commercial, do any of you have any recommendations? Doug Smith dsditto@alaskalife.net Daytime # 786-2760
