SOL NEWS UPDATE OCTOBER 2016 Hi From Sol! Welcome to our October edition of the Sol News Update. St. Kitts - Lubricants Marketing Implementer, Rochene Yarde presenting a Certificate of Participation Sol St. Kitts team with attendants Sol St. Kitts team with students Sol St. Kitts Hosts Lubricants Training Sol St. Kitts staged a series of Shell Lubricants influencer training sessions in September. Customers representing the power generation, transport, marine, commercial, retail and high street segments attended the sessions, which were facilitated by Lubrication Specialist Douglas McClean. The local team also journeyed to Advanced Vocational Education Centre (AVEC) to train students enrolled in the Auto-mechanics programme. The sessions focused on the basics of lubrications, the Shell product formulation and the benefits of using the many lubricants that Shell has available to meet their consumers needs. After interviewing several participants, it was clear that the training was beneficial to everyone and many are looking forward to more of these sessions being held. At the end of the training, everyone received a certificate of participation and a gift.

Fire Safety with Sol French Guyana The Sol French Guyana team organized two fire safety training sessions for members of the local team and pump attendants. Each participant benefitted from these informative sessions. These included lessons on different types of fire extinguishers, correct use of each extinguisher for various fires and fire evacuation guidelines. The team even had a chance to extinguish a live fire! All who were in attendance definitely enjoyed the sessions. At Sol, we continue to dedicate significant resources to maintaining safety, by training and retraining our staff, to be always conscious of safety concerns and to conduct themselves with these best practices in mind. Great work by the Sol French Guyana team!

Sol Saint Lucia Gives Back! Sol EC Ltd. (St. Lucia), donated over EC$10,000 to the Youth at Risk programme at three of the island s secondary schools. They also contributed a year s supply of free cooking gas to the school feeding programme at the Marchand Primary School. Ms. Esther Brathwaite, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, congratulated the team for their contribution to the education sector and development of the island s youth. Principal of The St. Mary s College, Mr. Rohan Sehon expressed his gratitude and advised that the funds donated would be used to assist the less fortunate children within his institution. Investing in education and the region s youth is one of the pillars of our corporate social responsibility drive and Sol EC Ltd. remains committed to advancing the development of Saint Lucia s human resources as well as strengthening their presence within the island. Excellent Work team!

Sol Suriname staff showing their support of the Shell Lubricants Premiums Week Sol Suriname Lubricants Sales team contacts customers to inform them about the great promotion offers Suriname s Premiums Week Sol Suriname embarked on another Shell Lubricants Premiums Week during the month of October. During Premiums Week, the focus is on selling premium lubricants to customers using attractive and exciting sales promotions. Over 100 customers were contacted by phone, fax, email or received a visit from a member of the sales team. Many of the customers indicated that they were happy and excited to have the sales promotion and took advantage of the special prices on offer. The team in Suriname is still analysing their findings from this promotion but they are all smiles as they believe their meticulous planning and coordination of this activity will yield great results. Sol Grand Cayman Sponsors Local Football Club Sol Grand Cayman has been supporting FC International Club since 2006. Their aim is to educate the youth, enabling them to be good and productive citizens through the development of football and personal skills. The Club has also developed a prison outreach programme which assists in ensuring prisoners stay focused and build positive thinking. The funding received from Sol is used for the procurement of footballs, equipment, T-shirts and refreshments for various football camps held by the organisation. A camp which featured the company was held on October 29, 2016 at the Ed Bush Stadium, West Bay, Grand Cayman, for the 4 16 age group. Sol Grand Cayman remains consistent in contributing to sports and educational development opportunities for the island s youth. Keep up the good work, team Cayman! J. Sol French Guyana Hosts Annual After Work Event The Sol French Guyana team hosted their annual after work event where retailers, suppliers and contractors have the opportunity to mingle and discuss business and best practices in a social setting. There is usually a turnout of 80-90 patrons each year with many persons expressing their desire to attend. This event is one that is highly anticipated by attendees, some of whom are already making plans for the next year s event! Sol Supports the Walk for the Cure in Barbados The Sol team in Barbados supported CIBC First Caribbean s Walk for the Cure, a breast cancer awareness 5K Walk and Run, which was held on October 2, 2016. Sol was a gold sponsor of the annual walk, which has grown to become one of the largest cancer fundraisers in the region. Our team joined the Champions in Pink on the road, decked out in pink T-shirts to show our solidarity and our support for this worthwhile walk. Our marketing team set up shop with a branded tent at the end of the walk. There, the team introduced walkers to the Sol brand, and provided them with sunglasses. We also had photo-taking props for walkers to use. These items made the event even more memorable as participants took selfies and other photos to show their solidarity for this worthy cause.

Student Wins Free Fuel For a Year with Sol BVI The Free Fuel for a Year Promotion concluded in BVI on Friday October 14, 2016 at a ceremony held at Myett s Chill Zone on Tortola Pier Park. Dandra Vanterpool 22, an employee of The Sterling Group BVI Ltd and a student of the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) was announced as the winner. Mr. Vanterpool was very excited after hearing he was indeed the winner. He advised that he would now be saving the funds he would have used to purchase fuel. The promotion, which launched in BVI on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Captain Mulligan s, Nanny Cay, ran until October 9, 2016. Customers purchasing $20 in fuel at Sol Service Stations, were issued with a Web Card for a chance to win. Eligible customers were then required to log on to the website www.solpetroleum.com/gofurtherbvi and enter their details, along with the code located at the back of the card for entries to be recorded. We wish to congratulate Mr. Vanterpool and the Sol BVI team after a successful promotion. Sol Grenada Hosts Health Fair Sol Grenada, in collaboration with St. George s University School of Medicine (AMSA, SCAVMA, WIM, Peds and IFMSA) recently hosted a One Health, One Medicine fair, at the Grand Mal Community Centre & Playing Field, Grand Mal, St. George s. The one-day event, which is in its 2nd year, is geared at providing free medical and veterinary services and information to the Grand Mal Community and surrounding areas. As part of Sol Grenada s corporate social responsibility and with HSE being paramount in our operations, the team chose to engage the community through the provision of health checks, veterinary services and sharing health information. The event attracted over 100 patrons and 50 animals received treatment. Some of the attendees included members of the local team, including Country Manager, George Bain Jr. Following another successful event, Sol Grenada will continue to support this initiative which provides care to persons in their business community and is beneficial to the less fortunate. The event also provided the team with an excellent opportunity to increase brand recognition. Great work, Sol Grenada. The Sol Grenada team showing their solidarity for this worthy cause

Mentors, comprising Sol Petroleum Bahamas team members, dealers and contractors, all receive the required mentorship training, which equips them with the necessary skills to provide on-going support to scholarship recipients. This scholarship and mentorship programme provides learning opportunities which enables less economically and educationally advantaged individuals to be globally competitive and economically independent. They are provided with two-year scholarships to the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute to enhance their skill set. The Sol Petroleum Bahamas team was able to optimize on-site live radio remotes as well as a robust schedule of live radio interviews to promote the programme at the recent launch of the brand awareness campaign You ve Got ESSO in Your Tank. The programme raised enough funds to provide twelve two-year scholarships to BTVI, some of which were issued to Esso-branded service station employees. The S&F Programme received recognition from the Bahamas Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Investment which maximises Sol s brand presence, creates long term impacts and provides lasting benefits to the communities we serve. Excellent work by the Sol Bahamas team! We welcome your input as we grow the Sol brand. Send your news to mybrand@solpetroleum.com
