Casa Dorothea Check-In Procedure Getting from the Airport to Casa Dorothea This document is designed to give you all the information you need for getting from the Cancun Airport to Casa Dorothea. Please take a copy of this document with you. Taking the Bus to Playa from Cancun The quickest and least expensive way to get from the airport to Casa Dorothea is the ADO Bus. They are very nice, clean and comfortable. They even show movies on the 1 hour ride to Playa del Carmen. Below is a map of the Cancun airport showing how to find the bus stop. Also included is a picture of the buses you will be riding. Below are step-by-step instructions for getting a ticket and finding the bus.
An ADO Bus from the Airport to Playa del Carmen After you get your luggage, proceed to exit door. Ignore all offers for transportation offered on your way to the door. (There will be many; Smile and say No Gracias ) When you exit, walk to your right. Follow the Red Line in the diagram above. The buses are parked at the end of the Terminal they stop at both Terminals 2 and 3. They are very nice silver and red buses with ADO on the side. Look for the one with the Playa del Carmen sign in the front window. You want to buy tickets to Playa del Carmen on the ADO Bus. Buy your tickets at the bus. Either the driver will be selling them or another uniformed ADO employee at a small stand near the buses. The tickets should cost about $10 (USD). They take green backs. The driver will take your luggage and store it underneath for you. Once you leave, the ride to the Playa del Carmen Bus Terminal is about 1 hour. There is one stop on the way in Puerto Morelos. Sit back, relax, watch a movie and enjoy your ride to Playa. Your bus will arrive in Playa del Carmen at the main ADO terminal on the corner of 5 th Avenue and Ave de Juarez. You can easily walk to Casa Dorothea but I don t recommend it with luggage. Exit the Bus station and you will see a line of taxicabs to the right. Give them the address information below and they should
drop you off at the entrance to Playa Kaan Condominiums. The taxi ride should cost about 50 pesos (roughly $5). If you do not want to take the bus from the airport and have not arranged transportation before your flight, you can take a taxi directly to the condo. Be sure to have the driver quote you a price before leaving the airport. The cost is usually around $65 to $70 USD (one way). The best alternative to bus transportation is described next. As of Jan, 2012 the typical round trip costs are: $109 for 1 to 3 people and $120 for 4 to 7 people. Direct Transportation to/from Casa Dorothea Don't want to wait for a bus? What to expect at the airport: If You Arrive in Terminal 3 As you exit the airport at Terminal 3, you will see all the greeters with signs in front of you. To the right is the Coconuts Welcome Bar (more like a snack shop) and to the left is the Meeting Point (more like an outdoor lounge). The Berry Hill Baja Grill is to the left also and services the Meeting Point. If You Arrive in Terminal 2 If you are arriving to Terminal 2, as you exit the airport you can only go straight or to the right. Look to the right to find greeter and the USA Transfers name on the sign. Finding Casa Dorothea View of Playa Kaan Condo Complex Home of Casa Dorothea Our local address in Playa del Carmen is Playa Kaan Condominiums Calle* 12 - Between 10 th Avenue and 15 th Avenue -------------------- Unit 33 Casa Dorothea * (Calle is the word for Street in Spanish) The main entrance to the complex is on Calle 12. Please note the condo name is Casa Dorothea. The complex is called Playa Kaan.
The best landmark is the Catholic Church called Iglesia del Carmen. The church is directly across from the condo complex on 15 th Avenue. Pictured below is a map depicting the location of Casa Dorothea and the route from the bus station to the condo. This will be helpful in the unlikely event you have a taxi driver who does not understand you. The red line on the map is the best walking route from the bus station to Casa Dorothea. You can show a taxi driver the following Spanish address and he ll know right away where to take you. Once at Casa Dorothea Vimex Condos is our local property manager. Jan is the Owner and her entire staff will be happy to help you. Sylvia is generally available in the Office. Their office is located right down Calle 12 from the condo between 15 th and 20 th Ave on the left. There is a sign on the building and they are located on the 2 nd floor. Their office number is 803 2231. This number is for dialing from a local phone. There are many pay phone booths around town. If you use your (non-mexican) cell phone to call them, your must add the country code of 52 and the area code of 984. Checking Into Casa Dorothea Enter the complex through the big Iron Gate at the main entrance on Calle 12. The gate is locked; use the access code of 3792 then press the # key. Once you check-in with Vimex, you will be provided with your own access code. Vimex is most likely to be waiting for you in the lobby. But sometimes, because of delays or if it after business hours, you ll most likely encounter Marcello who is the groundskeeper for the complex. Sometimes, Vimex Condos will leave the keys with them, especially if you are arriving late. If you arrive during normal business hours below is some Spanish to use if the person who greets you speaks only Spanish Hola, nos puede ayudar. Vamos a hospedarnos en Casa Dorothea, Departamento 33. Por favor avísenle a Vimex Condos para que nos traigan las llaves. Gracias It tells them you are checking into Unit 33 (Casa Dorothea) and asks them to contact VimexCondos for you. VimexCondos s office is right down the street and they will be there quickly to introduce themselves and let you into the condo. In the unlikely event that one of Vimex personnel or Marcello is not there at the moment, please call using the phone number above. There is a pay phone on the corner of Calle 12 and 10 th Avenue. The Vimex Office The office is located just down the street from condo. As you leave the main gate, make a right and cross 15 th Av. It will be on the left side of the street (Calle 12) between 15 th Av and 20 th Av just across from the church. They are located on the second floor. A picture of their office follows.
