Iceland 2018: Information Evening Please take a seat and have a browse through the planned itinerary sheets! Apologies for the very late notice of the meeting- our text system did not work correctly.

Purpose of this Evening - Quick overview of the itinerary - Chance to answer any questions Miss O Connor Mr Nunn

So Why Iceland? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xp0amgn xzmw

Check List What to bring? CLOTHING: Clothing needs to be considered under three headings: 1. Wet: you can expect rain at any time of the year and even if it does not rain your waterproof clothing is a good protection against wind chill. Note that the edges of glaciers can be exceptionally muddy no designer trainers. Sturdy shoes/ walking boots are ideal 2. Cold: at all times of the year you can expect chilly conditions and thus the principle of warm woolen clothing next to the skin topped by windproof over garments (e.g. anorak) is applicable. Winter conditions will be colder but more clothing does not necessarily mean greater warmth; it is the quality and the arrangement of the clothing that is important. 3. Indoors: the accommodation is warm and comfortable and so you will need light clothing and footwear (e.g. trainers) around the buildings.

Other items Baggage allowance 15Kg BUT. ANY toiletries that are packed in your hand-luggage must be appropriate for airport security for liquids/aerosols (50ml) in a clear plastic bag. Hand luggage (5kg) will need to be a rucksack as this will be needed to carry spare clothes and food during the days activities Swimwear/ small towel/flip flops: in HAND LUGGAGE Towels provided by the hotel but it is always recommended to bring your own. Alarm clock with alarm on it. Snacks for in the hotel or just in case you don t like the food. Something to entertain you for an hour or so in the evenings, cards etc DO NOT BRING ANYTHING YOU DON T WANT RETURNED LOST OR BROKEN accidents happen! Seem to happen more frequently to an Ipad!!

Risk Assessments Please sign the form at the front of the room to consent to have reading the risk assessments

Silly behaviour- pupils are fully aware of what is expected of them and on a trip is no different. NO MOBILES- phones will be immediately confiscated and leadership at school will be made aware. Airports- pupils are to follow all important notices to ensure they are safe and in the sight of staff. Timings- pupils must ensure they are up and ready for the day on time.

Anything I ve missed.. Money - Students will only need money for the odd souvenir etc. and any food they wish to purchase. Please bare in mind Iceland is very expensive. - They may want some money for in the airport as a meal is not provided on the plane although they can purchase food and drink.
