Reba & Ron Ray, GSA President While we were in Fort Payne, Al., the upcoming officers of GSA were installed for the year of 2017-2019. Officers: Ron Ray- President, Barry Williams Vice President, Randy Willis Secretary and Diane Reagan Treasurer. We would like to thanks all who volunteered to keep our State running on course, so many of our states are folding up because of lack of participation in FCRV. We hope you all will attend the GSA Fall Campout in October 6-8, 2017. We had to move this campout up earlier in October because of the park was not available the third weekend. The Troup Travelers will be hosting this campout, the Peach Rollers will be doing hospitality on Friday night and the Spring Lizards are in charge of games on Saturday. The Troup Travelers will be doing a catered meal on Saturday so please pay attention to the GSA Fall Campout Application and send it in to Reba so she can get the meal correctly. There will be a choice of chicken or BBQ. Look further down in this newsletter for the application. We had 4 families from Georgia to attend the Southeast Regional, Ron & Reba Ray, Tommy & Alice Garner, Chuck & Carol Stephens. We all had a great time. There were about 45 units there and they fed 95 people for the meal on Saturday. Great turn out. Most discussion at the Southeast was on the 2018 National Campvention in Doswell, Va. at The Meadow Event Center or Fairground. We are having a workers meeting in October 23-25, 2017 to finalize the plans for this campvention. So anyone who is willing and able to help, please contact Reba Ray 706-302-6735 or Marjory Bates (334-366-0084). Anyone who wants to come to the workers meeting is more than welcome. We will need all the help we can get. We still have committees that are not filled. We hope to pick up some people when we go to Lima, Ohio for the 2017 Campvention in a couple of weeks. We especially need things for a goody bags, so if cannot attend and would like to donate stuff, then let Reba know and we can take to National for you. Reba & I will be leaving July 1 going to Lebanon, Tn, to the South Central Regional. We will be leaving there and going on to Lima, Ohio for the 2017 National Campvention. HAPPY CAMPING TO ALL THROUGH THE SUMMER *********************************************************************************************** Currently the GSA membership dues of $10 are due on September 1 st of every year. Clubs if you would please pay your state dues as a club with a membership list to Dianne Reagan, all others please mail to Dianne. These dues help cover the expenses of the Newsletter and the GSA Website. On the same note, be sure your National dues are paid also. If your State dues are not received, you will be removed from this mailing. ***********************************************************************************************

STATE DIRECTOR BY: Tommy & Alice Garner We are on our way home after a busy spring and early summer so far. We attended the Peach Rollers campout at DeSoto State Park in Alabama in April. While there, the state officers meeting was held a new officers sworn in. In June we left after the Troup Travelers campout and worked our way up to Ft Chiswell RV Park in Virginia for the Southeast Regional. Bill and Margaret Alderman did a great job with everything. We met some new friends while we were there and lost an old one shortly after. Dick Lickens from Florida and former International Retiree Director had a fall and passed away just after attending. Dick will be missed. After the Regional, we joined the travelong at Ft Boonesborough, Kentucky. We stayed both there and in Fletcher, Ohio and toured a lot of old and interesting places. Campvention seemed to go by at an awfully quick pace. This is probably because everyone was so busy. We all got to visit with old friends and make some new ones. We got in some golf and games, got to eat too much and got to see some great entertainment. Our new Teen Queen and King were crowned. Beth O Neal from Illinois is our Queen and Peter Kurburski from Michigan is our King. Congratulations to them both! Next year s Campvention will be ours to host in the Southeast. We ll be in Doswell, Virginia. We attended the Executive Board meeting at Campvention. Camping Today was discussed at length. It will no longer be a published newsletter. A printed copy can still be sent to those who let us know they want it and we will give that info to the National Office. After the first of the year, printed copies will only be available through a $20 per year subscription. We will discuss this at our GSA Fall Campout. Tommy and Alice *********************************************************************************************** Scholarship News Reba Ray is the new Scholarship Chairman.

GEORGIA RETIREE CHAIRMAN By: REBA & RON RAY The 2018 Retiree Rally will be in Tallahassee, Florida, March 20 26, 2018. Early days will begin on March 16, so come early and tour the area. The theme is Beach Party. They are supposed to have a wet tee shirt contest for the men, and a decoration of thong for the women (flip flops). Sound like a lot of things going on at this rally and a lot of fun to be had, so make your plans to come and join us. The 2019 Rally will be back in Houma, La. We are looking forward in going back to this area. We had a great time last time and are looking forward to another great time in 2019. We are saddened by two of our Retirees that passed away. Dick Likins, Past Retiree Director, passed away June 24. Our prayers goes out to Pam and the rest of their family. Also, Darlene Gibson passed away June 24, She and Lou did our food when we were in Houma. These were two great friends and we will miss them at the Retiree Rallies. Ron and I will be looking at some more places in Georgia and Alabama for future rallies. Happy Camping to All *********************************************************************************************** TROUP TRAVELERS By: REBA RAY The Troup Travelers have been doing a campout a month since April. We camped at Amity Park, Whitetail Ridge Campground and High Falls State Park. Three families attend one of the Peach Rollers campout at Desota State Park in Fort Payne, Al. The Garners and Rays attended the Southeast Regional in Whytesville, Va. The weather has been great so far this camping season. We hope it continues to co-operate when we are out camping and having fun. In July and August we will be camping at Whitetail Ridge Campground. The Brancheaus and Lawrance will host these campouts. In September we will going to Little Tallapoosa Campground in Carrollton, Ga. and at this time we will again attend the Fried Pie Festival. We are looking forward to this. Make your reservations and come join us. We hope all have a safe and happy camping season. ********************************************************************************************** Please check the FCRV website for information concerning Camping Today, Campvention, Retiree Rally, and Regional Campout for 2018 www.fcrv.org

PEACH ROLLERS By: Linda Smith Hello All In April we camped at Desoto Falls Campground in Fort Payne, AL (state park). If you have never been there a great place to camp! We had to dodge thunderstorms but we did not have any of the severe weather that was going on in the area north west of us. We eat at the lodge restaurant in the campground. If you have never been there a great place to camp. We held the board meeting and the new GSA Officers were installed. May we did not camp as a group, so many people had so much going on we could not get it together. Freddy and I attended a Rally in Brunswick, GA in May at Georgia Coastal RV Resort. This was a nice place to have a rally. They have a nice large pavilion and full hookups. It is near Jekyll Island & St. Simmons, right off 1-95. June we camped at Riverbend Campground, Hiawassee, GA. A few of the guys played golf and some of the women went to the quilt store and had lunch. We enjoyed the pot luck dinners. Carol Yates taught a purse making class and a few women made some cute purses and bags. End of June and July 4 th we camped at Bolding Mill, Gainesville, GA on Lake Lanier. We had quite a bit of heavy rain earlier in the week but not a complete washout. We had a huge pavilion to hang out in and enjoy our meals. If you are in an area for the viewing of the eclipse stay safe. See you in October. If you have a RV for sale you can contact Larry Black to post it on the GSA website. If you know of anyone that wants to place an ad in the Newsletter let us know! If you would like to post your camping schedule on the GSA website send to Larry Black. Please remember to send in your registration forms for any GSA or FCRV events you plan to attend along with your check for any required fees. *********************************************************************************************** PLEASE REMEMBER TO SEND IN YOUR REGISTRATION FORMS FOR THE GSA FALL CAMPOUT BEFORE SEPTEMBER 15, 2017. SPRING LIZARDS By: Edna Jordan Summer time!! REALLY!! We're two weeks into July as of this writing and a bit older. Bob just turned 81; I just hit 80; and we've just celebrated our 10th anniversary. This shows us, again, how good God is and how His goodness continues as we age. 3/7 of our Spring Lizards are octogenarians!! We're thinking of changing the name of our club to SPRUNG Lizards!! (:)) Since the last Cracker Barrel we've camped at Little Tallapoosa; 2 couples went to the SE Regional in Virginia; we've enjoyed meetings and fun at the homes of the Williams, Stephens, and Smiths. August will find us at the Weems' home; September at Little Tallapoosa when the Troup Travelers are there. We look forward to the fellowship with them. Then October--Fall Campout at Pine Mountain--One of the best campouts of the year...close in there to the Retiree Rally--These are our favorites. We welcome Patricia and Bill Lee and their son, new members of the SL. They are busy people and very enjoyable. Most of our members are experiencing health issues...mark Dorough just had extensive hernia surgery in the area near his liver transplant; Clemit has some multiple dental extraction issues and Rheba Doris is having to do the allergy screening to determine her susceptibility to certain foods; Richard Smith has some vision and neuropathy problems that greatly limit his desired activity level; Chuck Stephens back problems continue and Carol still needs surgery; Bob had gastric problems in June; Edna just had knee surgery and ensuing side-effects from anesthesia. THE WEEMS AND LEES ARE THE HEALTHIEST!! See why we're considering "SPRUNG." See some of you in September and more of you in October!! ********************************************************************************************** UPCOMING EVENTS March 20-25, 2018 Retiree Rally Florida July 9-13, 2018 FCRV Campvention Virginia Check FCRV website for other campouts throughout the USA. Freddy Smith Past President I would like to thank everyone for having us a GSA President for the past four years plus. I would like to thank the past board for all of their work. Dianne Reagan for keeping us straight on our accounts and resolving old issues. Joe Tercey for all of his hard work and dedication to the organization. Joe spent lots of his free time reading and researching the National organization trying to update our documents. Would like to thank Wanda Williams for her dedication to the board. As times change the organization will have to make changes to encourage members. We have to get off the ideal of this is what we have always done. Look at all the changes in our daily lives that we have had to change the way we do things to keep up with the world. I encourage everyone to have an open mind on issues/changes/suggestions. Thanks to Dena Whatley and Scholarship Committee for their time and devotion to the program. Please support your new GSA board. Happy Camping ******************************************************************************************** If anyone would like to submit an article on the achievements, accomplishments, volunteering or any other social events or news of any member please submit by the dates listed below for the next edition of the Cracker Barrel.
