Awarded the MOE Ministerial Prize for Global Warming Preventions 2015 The first award-winning as airport- In December, the global warming prevention awareness month, Ministry of the Environment has awarded the Ministerial Awards to persons or organizations who made remarkable achievements in the fight against global warming since 1988 in an effort to promote the measures against global warming. We are happy to announce that the Smart Island Plan, KIX s environment project, is awarded the MOE Ministerial Prize for Global Warming Preventions (Implementation and Diffusion Category), which is the first award-winning as airport. This honor was led by the recommendation of the Governor of Osaka who recognized our innovative approaches to the clean energy such as the hydrogen grid project which is the first introduction among Asian airports in addition to our conventional environmental efforts. will make continued efforts for the Smart Island Plan together with all airport business partners to become an advanced and environmentally-friendly airport. Award : MOE Ministerial Prize for Global Warming Preventions 2015 Category: Implementation and Diffusion Category *This category is intended for achievements of continuous efforts concerning the implementation or diffusion of global warming protection such as lifestyle serving for global warming prevention, an effective energy saving at the regional level, or tree planting (including activities that have short history but produce sustainable development.) Awarded Activity: Smart Island Plan for the environmentally advanced airport With the concept of creating pollution-free airports that coexist and prosper with the local region, we have worked on the Smart Island Plan to become an environmentally advanced airport through considering resource recycling or biodiversity. We have focused on the reduction of CO 2 emission through the application of hydrogen, solar power, and wind energy from 2013, and introduced a new mega solar in 2015. We are now developing a hydrogen model such as a commercial hydrogen station through the fuel-cell forklift demonstration project. Dec. 2 (Wed), 2015 IINO HALL & CONFERENCE CENTER

Awarded Activity KIX Smart Island Plan the world-class environmentally advanced airport For creating pollution-free airports that coexist and prosper with the local region, KIX has introduced green innovation as our environmental policy and worked on various environmental activities. 1.Environmentally-friendly airport 2. Resource recycling, biodiversity Reduced CO 2 emission of approx. 3 million tons through energy saving and GPU (Ground Power Unit) application. Solar power generation provides approx. 9% of annual power consumption. *GPU can reduce fuel consumption than APU. Treat living drainage and general waste at the cleaning facilities by stricter standards than laws and recycle them (e.g. 60% of treat water). Developed seagrass bed along the coast to improve the sea environment. 3. Coexist with the local region 4. KIX hydrogen grid Organize local environmental study programs, green developments, and sport activities. Hydrogen grid project is promoting a trial use of the fuel-cell forklift to build a hydrogen model such as commercial hydrogen station.
