M A R C H 2 0 1 8 CORRAL CHATTER OUR PURPOSE IS TO PROMOTE GOOD FELLOWSHIP BETWEEN HORSEMEN AND A GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF HORSES President s Message Happy March, So what does that mean? St Patrick s Dinner will be happening at the General Meeting with Corned Beef and Cabbage on the way. When you come, be sure to wear something green or you might get pinched! Well February is a slow month for the Horsemen s. The weather is always a factor, but our grounds always look beautiful with all the green. Oh wait! We have new bar stools! Paul and Karen Tarasco were up in Tahoe last weekend enjoying all that it has to offer-- snow, skiing and yes casino s. They were at this casino and Paul decided to walk around. Just needed a little break. He wandered off to the back and saw a room with a mountain of chairs and barstools piled up six feet high. He saw that there were some nice barstools. He went to Karen and said, Wouldn t these be great for the Horsemen s? They then proceeded to talk to the manager and he allowed them to pick out 14 stools from the pile. Apparently these have been ones that had been replaced over the years. There was no use for them anymore as this old historical casino may be demolished in a couple of years. How ironic that those historical barstools would end up in our historical club? Thankfully they, and a friend, had driven their trucks up for the Tahoe trip, so they were able to load them up and bring those barstools home to the SCCHA. When you come to the General Meeting you can see them for yourself. Thank you so much Paul and Karen Tarasco! With that see you on the trail, Yvonne Lee Santa Clara County Horsemen s Association, Inc. 79 Great Years!

Our arena is looking good these days and we plan on it just getting better and better. Weeds have been sprayed and the new tractor did a beautiful job on the first run afterwards. Check out the before and after pictures below! This drier weather has given us a chance to get a head start on grooming and keeping the arena in good shape and ready for our first horse shows this spring. Don t miss our schooling shows scheduled for April 22, May 20 and June 17. Our first 5D Play Day is scheduled for April 29, with two more happening in June and August. Horse silhouettes have been added to our Membership Wall thanks to Chris Minkler and Sharon Pfeiffer. You can help support our club and have your name memorialized on the clubhouse wall, by purchasing one for $50 and having Sharon write your name it. The silhouettes are available for purchase to members who have belonged to the SCCHA for 5 years or more.
