Puget Sounders August 2011 Newsletter Volume 28 Issue 5 Wonderful Rally in Westport At Bob & Ed's Road Kill Café 27 coaches gathers at the American Sunset RV Park in Westport WA for the August 2011 rally. The Westport hosts were Bob & Elsie Fite, and Ed & Sharon Stanford and Chuck & Susan Jordan. The theme for this week end was The Road Kill Café. Our hosts had decorated the dinning hall with Road Kill Café menus, and the tables were decorated with table clothes that looked like roads and the were various centerpieces on the tables. Here is a sample The Friday night gathering did not disappoint. There was a wide variety of delicious offerings. As the evening began President Rick Murphy introduced our guest Dave & Kim Matthew. Dave & Kim are the son and daughterin-law of Jim & Cathy Matthew. Rick also introduced Ron & Shari Carlson. Ron & Shari joined the Puget Sounders in January of 2010, and this was their first official rally with the Sounders, better late than never.
Saturday morning the chapter was served a delicious breakfast. There was a choice of an Egg based casserole with sausage, or a Potato casserole along with fruit and juice. After breakfast there was a garage sale sponsored by The Road Kill Café. The garage sale was open to all the guests of American Sunset RV Park, and it was a rousing success. Some of our members sold a few of those unwanted RV items that had been luring around the dusty corners of their garage. Many of the members spent the afternoon exploring the surrounding area. The was a lot to see, The Westport Museum with the light from the Desperation Lighthouse, Many Shops, The Winery, and of course the beach and docks of Westport. The members gathered in the Road Kill Café for cocktails at 5pm and dinner was served at 6pm on the dot. There were choices, Dark Meat (Smoked Brisket) and Not So Dark Meat (Pulled Pork). The buffet table was full of many other delicious selections. There was also a large side table of deserts. A Road Kill Cake Yummy!!!
After dinner the host started a rousing game of Left, Right, Center. We were instructed to bring eight quarter each. The LRC dice were passed down the table, if a C was rolled a quarter went in the pot. The last person at the table with a quarter won the pot. We played two rounds and there were 3 tables. There were a lot of very happy winner. All those laundry quarter will be put to good use somewhere down the road. The Big Winners were Wally Hockley, Pennie Burns, Shari Carlson, Gary Radecki, Bill Boice, and John Hurst. Sidelights of the week end. Bill Burns and his Smoré on Thursday night at the camp fire. It was made with a giant marshmallow.
American Sunset RV Park gave two shopping bags full of items from their store to raffled off. The winners were Donna Armitage, & Gary Radecki.
