Notes for Ambrose Brockman: Tuscumbia, Missouri, Thursday, June 25, 1914 Ambrose Brockman was born March 16, 1838. He was married to Sarah Ann Conner May 9th 1861. To this union was born three sons and one daughter. The oldest son, Henry, died at the age of seven months. Jas. W. Brockman, the second son, died at the age of thirty nine. Sarah, a wife of Ambrose Brockman, died June 24th 1888. One son, Judge J.N. Brockman, and one daughter, Mrs. J.A. Roark, survive him. He joined the Baptist Church at Flatwoods Church in 1884. On November 16th, 1897, he was united in marriage to Martha M. Miller, who lived in Moniteau County, after which he moved to that county, four miles northwest of Olean. He there put his membership with the Baptist Church of Olean. He was a member of the Masonic Fraternity. He and his wife were both members of the order of Eastern Star. The body was brought to Tuscumbia by Undertaker Phillips of Eldon, accompanied by friends and relatives and an escort from the lodges of Olean and Eldon of the Masonic order. On arrival at Tuscumbia the Masons took charge and conveyed the body to the Baptist Church where Bro. Self preached a very appropriate sermon. Very excellent song service was rendered at the church, conducted by Mr. Walter Stillwell, assisted by the young people of Tuscumbia. After the services at the church the body was taken in charge by the Masons and conveyed to the cemetery known as the Flatwoods or Scott Cemetery, where the concluding ceremonies of a Masonic burial were had, conducted by Senator W.S. Allee of Olean. John Brockman, father of the deceased, was born December 13th 1798, and settled in Miller County at what is known as the Brockman Ford of the Osage River. Uncle Ambrose expressed a desire before he died that he be buried by his first wife on the Osage. Mrs. Brockman was a charter member of Eldon chapter 210 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She had been a member over 50 years. Survivors besides Judge Brockman are four sons, Basil of Santa Monica, Calif., Otis of San Francisco, Dewey P. of Kansas City and C.O. Brockman of Tuscumbia; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Starling of Jefferson City; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was born Aug. 28, 1914, in Eldon to Roy A. and Goldie Ethel Bealer Brockman. Her mother married James A. Tracy in 1925, after Mr. Brockman died in 1920. She was married to Brace E. Lambert, who survives at the Powhatan. Mrs. Lambert was a graduate of the Union High School and William Woods College in Fulton. She taught school in Missouri and later was an employee in Kansas City of what is now the Social Security Administration and the Internal Revenue Service.

In 1946, she moved to the Washington, D.C. area. While still working for the IRS, she received a law degree from Catholic University. In 1952, she was appointed an assistant commonwealth s attorney in Arlington County, VA, becoming the first woman to hold such a position in that state. From 1955 until about 1990, Mrs. Labert and her husband were partners in Lambert & Lambert, an Arlington, VA law firm. For a time, Mrs. Lambert also taught property law at what is now the law school of George Mason University. In 1966, she and her husband founded the Powhatan Nursing Home and in the mid-1970s they started Leewood Nursing Home in Annandale, VA. They sold the Powhatan in 1995 and Leewood in 1997. Mrs. Lambert was a past treasurer at the Arlington County Bar Association. She was a Sunday school teacher at the Alexandria (VA) Baptist Church and a member of the choi8r. She was a trustee of the William Woods College, which gave her its distinguished alumna award in 1985, and of Bluefield College in Bluefield, VA. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and holder of a private pilot s license. Two aunts and many cousins survive in addition to her husband. Funeral services were held Jan. 18 at the Alexandria Baptist Church. Burial was in Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, VA. Mrs. Brockman, a member of the First Baptist Church, Eldon, lived in Eldon since 1972 and lived in the Eldon area for most of her life. Survivors include: two sons, Earl M. Brockman, Eldon and John B. Brockman, Neosho; a daughter, Mrs. Gloria A. Bradley, Columbia; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Gray, Eugene and Mrs. Myrtle Fields, Eldon; and eight grandchildren. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Phillips Funeral Chapel in Eldon with the Rev. Arnim Ray officiating. Burial will be in the Eldon Cemetery. More About Anna D. He was born Oct. 19, 1913, in Etterville to James Basil and Anna Hinds Brockman. Mr. Brockman served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked for the postal service for many years.

Surviving him are a sister, Gloria Bradley; a brother, John B. Brockman; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was born 27 Aug 1901 in Ulman, Miller County, Missouri, and died 10 Jul 1992 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Notes for Dewey Payton Brockman, Sr.: Obituary: Jefferson City News Tribune, September 1986 Dewey Payton Brockman, 88, Kansas City, a former Miller County resident, died Saturday at the Baptist Memorial Hospital, Kansas City. He was born April 27; 1898, at Bagnell, a son of John and Eliza Wilcox Brockman. On Nov. 25, 1921, he was married at Independence to Lillie Davenport, who survives of the home. Mr. Brockman was a school teacher in Miller County until 1929 when he moved to Kansas City. Prior to his retirement in 1969, he was employed for 37 years by the Ford Motor Company as a quality control inspector. Other survivors include: two daughters, Lois Wilson, Eldon, and Doris Wren, Albuquerque, NM; one sister, Mary Starling, Leavenworth, Kan.; three grandchildren and one great-grandson. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Tuscumbia Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Nuckolls officiating. Burial will be at the Tuscumbia City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. She was born Aug 27, 1901, in Ulman to John Thomas and Edna Jane Lewis Davenport. On Nov. 25, 1921, she was married in Independence to Dewey P. Brockman, who died Sept 5, 1986. Mrs. Brockman was a graduate of Ulman High School. She lived in Kansas City from 1929 until 1988 when she moved to the home of her daughter in Albuquerque. She was a member of the Marlboro Baptist Church in Kansas City. Survivors include her daughter, Doris Wren of Albuquerque; a sister, Icie Peel of Kansas City; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Private funeral services were held Monday. Burial was in the Tuscumbia Cemetery under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon. Mr. Brockman, a lifetime resident of Miller County, was born March 19, 1902, at Bagnell, son of John N. and Eliza Wilcox Brockman. On April 22, 1930, he was married at Eldon to Ila Calkin, who survives at the home. He taught at Ulman, Bagnell and Walnut Grove schools in Miller County and started the high school at Bagnell. For some 20 years Mr. Brockman served as postmaster at Tuscumbia. He also organized Brockman Wood Products Company which he operated for 30 years. He was a member of the Tuscumbia Baptist Church and the Tuscumbia Men s Club. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Jay C. Brockman, Kansas City; a brother, Dewey Brockman, Kansas City; and a sister, Mary Starling, Leavenworth, Kan. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon from 2 until 9 p.m. today (Thursday). Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Tuscumbia Cemetery. She was a member of Tuscumbia First Baptist Church. Survivors include: one son, Jay Brockman, Shelbyville, Ind.; one sister, Veda Casady, Maquoketta, Iowa; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Philips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Don Bilbary will officiate. Burial will be in Tuscumbia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday. She was employed as a legal secretary for the Missouri Supreme Court, Jefferson City, until her retirement in 1975. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Leavenworth, the Order of the Eastern Star, Eldon and Chapter EO, PEO, Leavenworth. She worked as a volunteer at Cushing Memorial Hospital and the YWCA, Leavenworth. Survivors include one daughter, Betty Nell Semple, Leavenworth.
