May 16, 2014 Chuck McGinness, (954) 777-4090 chuck.mcginness@dot.state.fl.us BROWARD COUNTY TRAFFIC IMPACT REPORT May 16 through May 23, 2014 FORT LAUDERDALE -- Construction and maintenance-related lane closures on state highways in Broward County are expected during the week of May 16 through May 23, according to the Florida Department of Transportation. Weather permitting, work will be done at the following locations throughout the county. For updated lane closure information, please refer to www.d4fdot.com. Follow us on Twitter @MyFDOT_SEFL. CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS 1. I-95 from the Golden Glades Interchange in Miami-Dade County to Broward Boulevard in Broward County Up to three northbound lanes on I-95, from the Golden Glades Interchange in Miami- Dade County to Sunrise Boulevard in Broward County, will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday, May 16 to noon Saturday, May 17 and from Sunday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. At least two lanes will remain open at all times. Entrance and exit ramps will be closed as needed in the work zone. Detours will be clearly marked and electronic signs will advise drivers in advance. Up to three southbound lanes on I-95, from Sunrise Boulevard in Broward County to the Golden Glades Interchange in Miami-Dade County, will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday, May 16 to noon Saturday, May 17 and from Sunday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. At least two lanes will remain open at all times. Entrance and exit ramps will be closed as needed in the work zone. Detours will be clearly marked and electronic signs will advise drivers in advance. The exit ramp from northbound I-95 to Ives Dairy Road will be closed as needed and traffic will be detoured Sunday through Thursday between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. This ramp will not be closed when the southbound exit ramp to Ives Dairy Road is closed. The following detour will be used: o Drivers going north on I-95 who want to exit at Ives Dairy Road should continue north to Hallandale Beach Boulevard, go west on Hallandale Beach

Boulevard to the I-95 southbound entrance ramp, and take I-95 south to Ives Dairy Road. The exit ramp from southbound I-95 to Ives Dairy Road will be closed as needed and traffic will be detoured Sunday through Thursday between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. This ramp will not be closed when the northbound exit ramp to Ives Dairy Road is closed. The following detour will be used: o Drivers going south on I-95 who want to exit at Ives Dairy Road should continue south to Miami Gardens Drive, go east on Miami Gardens Drive to the I-95 northbound entrance ramp, and take I-95 north to Ives Dairy Road. One lane on the entrance ramp from eastbound I-595 to northbound I-95 will be closed as needed Sunday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. One lane will remain open at all times. Up to two eastbound or westbound lanes on Hallandale Beach Boulevard will be closed as needed Monday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. At least one lane will remain open at all times. Up to two eastbound or westbound lanes on Pembroke Road will be closed as needed Monday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. At least one lane will remain open at all times. Up to two eastbound or westbound lanes on Stirling Road will be closed as needed Monday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. At least one lane will remain open at all times. Description: This project will extend the High Occupancy Toll Express lanes from northern Miami-Dade County north 13 miles to Fort Lauderdale. The project includes installing Intelligent Transportation System components; modifying the Ives Dairy Road interchange; bridge widening at specific locations and installing new noise barrier walls at locations between Hollywood Boulevard and Taft Street. Cost/Completion: The construction cost is $112 million. Completion is expected April 2015. 2. I-75 from north of Griffin Road to I-595 in Broward County One northbound lane of I-75 from Griffin Road to Indian Trace will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. One southbound lane of I-75 from Indian Trace to Griffin Road will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. One northbound lane of SR 84 at 148 th Avenue will be closed Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Description: This 4.7-mile project will add four tolled managed lanes in the I-75 median. The work is part of the I-75 Express Lanes project that extends from NW 170 th Street in northern Miami-Dade County to I-595 in Broward County. This project includes entrance and exit access points to the express lanes; a bridge with a direct connection to 595 Express; integrated Intelligent Transportation System and tolling components; noise barrier walls at various locations and new signage, lighting, drainage and landscaping improvements. Cost/Completion: Construction cost is $75 million. Completion is expected in late 2016. 3. Eller Drive east of the I-595/US 1 interchange at Port Everglades

The intersection of Eller Drive and NE 7th Avenue will be closed as needed overnight Monday through Friday between 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for overhead bridge work. During the closure, northbound motorists on NE 7th Avenue will be detoured east to McIntosh Road where they can make a U-turn to westbound Eller Drive toward westbound I-595, US 1, or Fort Lauderdale Airport. One eastbound lane of I-595 entering Port Everglades will be closed as needed Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Intermittent lanes may be closed in either direction within the project limits Monday through Friday at all times. Description: A new overpass is being built over Eller Drive and the Port Everglades Railroad. The project includes reconstruction of several ramps in the I-595/US 1/Eller Drive interchange, reconstruction of the Eller Drive intersections at NE 7 th Avenue, NE 14 th Avenue and McIntosh Road, installation of new railroad tracks and crossing signals, drainage retention ponds, moving utilities out of the construction path, concrete pavement roadway construction, highway lighting system, landscaping and irrigation. Cost/Completion: $42.5 million. Completion in November 2014. 4. Description: Project improvements include installation of an electronic system that will enable buses on SR 7 / U.S. 441 to minimize wait times in the outside turn lane. Cost/Completion: $52,225. Completion in early 2014. 6. Broward Boulevard at Kentucky Avenue in Fort Lauderdale Traffic Impacts: All lanes are open through May 23. Description: Project improvements include installation of new signals and overhead illuminated signs. Cost/Completion: $228,522. Completion in early 2014. 7. East Las Olas Boulevard Bridge from SE25th Avenue to A1A in Fort Lauderdale Traffic Impacts: The bridge will be closed in both directions overnight Monday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Eastbound traffic will be detoured to Sunrise Boulevard via U.S. 1 and westbound traffic will be detoured to Sunrise Boulevard via A1A. All other times, one lane in each direction will be open and one lane in each direction will be closed for construction through spring 2014. Description: This bridge rehabilitation project includes the reconstruction of bridge concrete decks, replacement of bridge joints, installation of new pedestrian railings, installation of new traffic railings, installation of aluminum sidewalks along the movable portions of the bridge, painting the interior and exterior of bridge and the bridge tender house and repaving and restriping Las Olas Boulevard within the project limits. Cost/Completion: $5.8 million. Completion in spring 2014. 8. Bridges of the Isles and Sunrise Key Bridges Replacement in Fort Lauderdale Traffic Impacts: One westbound lane of Las Olas Boulevard from Nurmi Drive to Fiesta Way will be closed continuously through Friday, May 23 at 4 p.m. One eastbound lane of Las Olas Boulevard from Nurmi Drive to Fiesta Way will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. One lane of the Fiesta Way Bridge will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone. One lane of the Nurmi Drive Bridge will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

One lane of the Nurmi Drive Bridge will be closed Saturday, May 17, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone. Description: Project improvements include the demolition and replacement of the five low level bridges off Las Olas Boulevard to Royal Palm Drive, Nurmi Drive, Fiesta Way and Isle of Venice and the low level Sunrise Key Bridge off NE 6th Court. Cost/Completion: $8 million. Completion in late 2015. 9. I-95 Bridge Painting and Rehabilitation over the South Fork of the New River in Fort Lauderdale Traffic Impacts: The shoulder along northbound I-95 from SR 84/Marina Mile Boulevard to Davie Boulevard will be closed through Friday, May 23. The shoulder along southbound I-95 from Davie Boulevard to SR 84/Marina Mile Boulevard will be closed through Friday, May 23. The shoulder along the southbound I-95 ramp to both directions of I-595 will be closed through Friday, May 23. Description: Project improvements include the repair, rehabilitation and painting of the three I- 95 bridges over the South Fork of the New River. Cost/Completion: $18 million. Completion in summer 2014. 10. Kingfisher Waterway Bridge Replacement in Lighthouse Point Traffic Impacts: The bridge is closed to all traffic through the summer 2014. Southbound traffic is detoured to NE 21st Avenue via NE 33rd Street and then back to NE 23 rd Avenue via NE 30 th Court. Northbound traffic is detoured to NE 21st Avenue via NE 31st Street and then back to NE 23 rd Avenue via NE 34 th Street. Description: Project improvements include replacing the bridge over Kingfisher Waterway, installing new drainage, upgrading curb and ramps to ADA requirements, and constructing and repairing sidewalks. Cost/Completion: $1.2 million. Completion in summer 2014. 11. I-595 Mobility Hub in Davie The right turn lane from northbound Davie Road to eastbound SR 84 will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Motorists will be able to turn right from the through lane. The merging eastbound lane of SR 84 east of Davie Road will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Description: Project improvements include constructing a new transit mobility hub and parkand-ride lot with bus bays for 595 Express Bus Service and South Florida Education Center (SFEC) Tri-Rail Shuttle, adding drainage structures, installing lighting, signs, pavement markings, and landscaping within the facility. Cost/Completion: $1.2 million. Completion in early 2014. 12. I-95/I-595 Interchange Landscaping in Fort Lauderdale / Dania Beach

All lanes are open through May 23. Description: Project improvements include constructing tiered landscaped planters at several locations within the project limits, constructing two ponds to assist with drainage, and installing a temporary irrigation system. Cost/Completion: $5.9 million. Completion in spring 2014. 13. A1A Drainage Improvements from Meade Street to Oak Street in Hollywood All lanes are open through May 23. Description: Project Improvements include installing new drainage upgrades that will connect to the existing drainage system, removing old asphalt and repaving A1A within the project limits, replacing existing sidewalk along the west side with a new 6-foot wide sidewalk with curb and gutter. Cost/Completion: $749,294. Completion in spring 2014. 14. CSX Bridge Replacement over the South Fork of the New River in Fort Lauderdale All lanes open through May 23. Description: Project improvements include replacing the existing South Florida Rail Corridor CSX Railroad rolling lift bridge just west of I-95 over the south fork of the New River in Fort Lauderdale. Cost/Completion: $22 million. Completion in spring 2016. 15. Andrews Avenue Extension Reconstruction in Pompano Beach One lane in each direction of Andrews Avenue from NW 18th Street to Copans Road will be closed intermittently Monday through Saturday between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Description: Project improvements include reconstructing Andrews Avenue Extension from NW 18th Street to north of Copans Road, widening and repaving Andrews Avenue Extension within the project limits, changing roadway access on Andrews Avenue Extension, restriping Andrews Avenue Extension within the project limits, installing new overhead signal arms, installing new drainage, upgrading curb and ramps to ADA requirements, constructing and repairing sidewalks, installing new lighting, installing new signals at intersections within the project limits, and installing new signs. Cost/Completion: $6.6 million. Completion in summer 2015. 16. 17. Sunrise Boulevard Bridge over the Middle River All lanes on the bridge will be closed overnight Tuesday, May 20 through Friday, May 23 between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Traffic will be detoured to Oakland Park Boulevard and Las Olas Boulevard via A1A and U.S. 1. The north sidewalk along Sunrise Boulevard from U.S. 1 to Middle River Drive will be closed through mid-may. This closure includes the crosswalk at NE 20th Avenue. Pedestrians will be detoured to the crosswalk at US 1 where they may access the south sidewalk. One of the two left turn lanes from northbound Middle River Drive to westbound Sunrise Boulevard will be closed through early 2016. One westbound lane of Sunrise Boulevard between U.S. 1 and Middle River Drive is closed through early 2016. Two lanes are open for westbound traffic. One eastbound lane of Sunrise Boulevard between U.S. 1 and Middle River Drive is closed through early 2016. Two lanes are open for eastbound traffic. Description: Project improvements include replacing the replacing the Sunrise Boulevard Bridge over the Middle River, increasing the bridge clearance by approximately 4 feet, relocating utilities, installing new lighting, signalization, and pavement markings. Dixie Highway Roadway Improvements Project from McNab Road to NE 26 Street in Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Oakland Park, and Wilton Manors One northbound lane of Dixie Highway from Oakland Park Boulevard to NE 34 th Court will be closed Monday through Thursday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. NE 34 th Court from Dixie Highway to NE 12 th Avenue will be closed Monday through Wednesday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Eastbound motorists on NE 34 th Court will be detoured north on Dixie Highway, east on NE 36 th Street and south on NE 12 th Avenue to NE 34 th Court. Westbound motorists on NE 34 th Court will be detoured south on NE 12 th Avenue, east on NE 34 th Street, north on NE 13 th Avenue, west on NE 38 th Street and south on Dixie Highway to NE 34 th Court. Cost/Completion: $3.9 million. Completion in fall 2014. 19. Signalization Installation Project on State Road 84 at I-95 in Fort Lauderdale All lanes are open through May 23. Description: Project improvements include installing bridge mounted signs and video detection systems. Cost/Completion: $64,000. Completion in May 2014. 20. SR 7 at Southgate Boulevard Intersection Improvements Project in Margate

One lane in each direction of SR7 / U.S. 441 will be closed Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Description: Project improvements include removing old asphalt and resurfacing the intersection, upgrading existing traffic signals to mast arms, installing variable LED signs on signal arms facing right turn traffic and installing pedestrian signals at all four corners. Cost/Completion: $721,864. Completion in summer 2014. 21. Pines Boulevard and 202 nd Avenue Signal Installation Project in Pembroke Pines All lanes are open through May 23. Description: Project improvements include adding a traffic signal at the intersection of Pines Boulevard and 202 nd Avenue. Cost/Completion: $170,000. Completion in May 2014. 22. Westbound State Road 84 Sign Installation Project in Davie All lanes are open through May 23. Description: Project improvements include installing a new directional sign. Cost/Completion: $3,500. Completion in May 2014. 23. I-595 Corridor Drainage Improvements Project in Dania Beach All lanes are open through May 23. Description: Project improvements include improving drainage facilities under the I-595 corridor from SW 30 th Avenue to Ravenswood Road as necessary to alleviate flooding problems on the roads and properties in the city of Dania Beach. Cost/Completion: $329,900. Completion in fall 2014. 24. 17th Street Causeway Bridge Submarine Cable Replacement Over the Intracostal Waterway Minimal impact is expected to motorists during construction. The contractor does not anticipate any construction related lane closures. The 17th Street Causeway Bridge will be placed on single-leaf opening during regularly scheduled openings. A three-hour advance notice to the bridge tender will be required for a double-leaf opening from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, Monday through Saturday. Description: Project improvements include replacing the power, control and ground cables underneath the bridge to depths in accordance with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers requirements. Oakland Park Boulevard at NW 56 th Avenue Intersection Improvements Project in Lauderhill One lane in each direction of Oakland Park Boulevard will be closed Monday through Friday between 9:30 p.m. and 7 a.m. Description: Project improvements include widening Oakland Park Boulevard west of NW 56th Avenue to add a second left turn lane from eastbound Oakland Park Boulevard to northbound NW 56th Avenue; removing old asphalt and resurfacing the intersection; constructing ADA compliant ramps; upgrading the existing traffic signal and mast arm on the southeast corner of the intersection; and upgrading lighting, signs, drainage, and pavement markings.
