NORTH EAST CIDC TRAINING CENTRE A REPORT: A recent visit to CIDC training centre in Guwahati, the gateway to the North East region, gave an on ground reflection of the government initiative on Skill India programme. The objective of the centre visit was to observe the functioning of a CIDC run training centre. Daily routine includes starting the day with the nation anthem, attending theory classes and doing practical jobs to get the feeling of hands on approach. The centre runs an exclusive training programme for supervisors, sponsored by the North Eastern Council (NEC). The course for supervisors requires Class XII pass students, but a graduate trainee also took part. Trainees from Nagaland, Assam and Tripura took part in the specially designed skill development training programme. During an hour long interaction, trainees confessed their confidence levels had gone up after attending the course. Interactions with the branch manager, trainers and counsellors revealed the importance of the proper counselling to the students. Before joining such courses meant for skill development, trainees should feel motivated by knowing the basic objectives of the programme and what benefits that would accrue to them after a finishing the course. Trainers shared their experiences of being able to empower students skills in the past so that they could work for any construction projects right from the word go. Hostel and kitchen facilities at the centre promoted the idea of Prime Minister Narendra Modi s Swachh Bharat. [Sh. Ratnajyoti Dutta, Media Advisor, CIDC, seen interacting with trainees at Guwahati centre. The trainees came to attend a supervisor level training programme under a tie-up with the North Eastern Council (NEC).] News Report Airports Authority of India: The first batch of 305 students have successfully completed their training at different categories under the Project for Employment Oriented Training and Skill Development Programme for SC/ST/OBC/Women & EWS of Society for 1000 Persons under Airports Authority of India CSR Initiative.
