August 28, 1947, Evansville Review Boy Scouts to Leave for Camp Sunday A. M. Accompanied by Scoutmaster George Greenway and his assistants, the Evansville Boy Scouts will leave Sunday for their annual camping trip to Long Lake at Long Rock. The boys have been looking forward to and making plans for the trip for many weeks and months and are now hoping that the weather man will favor them with some bright warm days next week. The caravan will leave the city hall Sunday morning. The campsite is the same one used by the Scouts the past several years and is an ideal place for swimming, ball playing and other. Gordon Brunsell is Honored Wed. Night Scoutmaster George Greenway Hands In Resignation Many Receive Badges At the Boy Scout court of honor held last night in the city hall, George Greenway handed in his resignation as Scoutmaster after 16 years of scouting service. Jim Kaltenborn, Jack Deininger and Shannon Ferguson became Eagle Scouts and many other badges were presented to Evansville boys. Gordon Brunsell was awarded a life saving certificate of honor issued by the National Court of Honor for saving the life of his sister Carmen when the Brunsell house on Grove Street caught fire last November. Carmen and Gordon were in upstairs bedrooms. She rushed to her brother s room to waken him and he took a blanket from his bed and lowered her from an upstairs window and then jumped to the ground himself. September 2, 1948, Evansville Review George Greenway had spent nine years in the army and had worked a several print shops in the west before coming to Evansville. He was employed at the Antes Press as plant superintendent. He had two sons, Jean and Ted. (Ted was killed in WWII). September 23, 1948, Evansville Review Cub Scouts Plan for Round-up and picnic A cub Scout picnic is in the offing. All Cub Scouts and their parents and all other boys who will be nine years old by Nov. 1, and their parents are invited and urged tog ather at the park shelter house tomorrow, Friday evening, for a picnic supper and scout round-up. Cubs are requested to arrive at the shelter house not later than 5 o clock and the parents at 5:30 o clock. A program will be given under the direction of J. B. Green. October 14, 1948, Evansville REview Cub Scouts Parents Meet This Evening An executive from the Indian Trails council in Janesville, will be the guest speaker at a monthly Cub Scout Meeting to be held at 7 o clock tonight in the congregational church basement. As a special treat for the local troop in observation of Scout week, the Lions club provided refreshments for the regular Boy Scout meeting held last Thursday night in the city Hall. They were served by the Rev. Francis Kranz, George Mattakat and J. B. Green. The scouts will meet tonight but in the future the meetings will be held at 7:15 o clock Mondays in the city hall.
