Be Prepared Sunday School Lesson from Luke 21:25-36 ministry-to-children.com/be-prepared-sunday-school-lesson-from-luke-2125-36 by; Stephanie Fernandez This Bible lesson is based on Luke 21:25-36 when Jesus warns His followers to be prepared for His second coming. This is a parent - led lesson. Parents - prep these supplies backpack, flashlight, compass,,map,,sunscreen,,water bottle, thick socks, and granola bar Read these Bible verses with the kids -Joshua 1:9, Psalm 136:1, Luke 6:31, John 3:16

LBe Prepared! Have you ever gone hiking before? It's wonderful being outdoors and seeing everything God created. When we go on a hike it s a little bit different each time. Sometimes it s hot, sometimes it s cold. Sometimes it s raining, and sometimes it s dry as a desert. Sometimes it s flat, and sometimes it s up and down. What kind of hiking is your favorite? One thing all those hikes have taught us is how to prepare. If we want to make it through a hiking trip, there are certain things we need to bring and do. First of all, we have to build up our strength. We can t just automatically go hike up the highest mountain our first trip out. We have to start smaller and slowly build up our strength. But we know that with each hike we go on, we are making ourselves better prepared for the next one. Another thing that's important is knowing what to pack. There are a lot of things we need to bring with us on a trip like that. I brought a backpack to show you. These are things we should bring with us. I have a flashlight, for when it gets dark. A map and compass, so we don t get lost. I have food and water, to keep us strong. And sunscreen and warm socks to protect us. Is there anything else I should have packed? What would happen if we forgot even one of these things? We could be in big trouble. That s why we try to be prepared. You know, if we think about it, we should be prepared for other things too. What else can we think of that it's good to prepare for? What is the ONE BIG thing to be prepared for? What is that ONE thing that is more important than anything else? That ONE thing is meeting Jesus. Just like when we go hiking, there are things we need no matter what. We might not need an actual flashlight, but we do need a Light to follow. Thankfully, the Bible says that Jesus is the Light of the World. So, if we get stuck in a bad place, lost in the darkness of sin, all we have to do is look for the Light of Jesus. Where can we find His Light? (Bible, memorized verses, encouragement from someone...) Prayer is just like our compass and map. When we pray, we are staying pointed in the right direction, directed right to Jesus. And when we read the Bible, that is nourishment to our souls, just like water and food is nourishment to our bodies. It helps to keep us strong as followers of Jesus, so when times get tough, we are ready. And the Holy Spirit is our sunscreen and socks, keeping us protected. When we have the Holy Spirit living in us, we don t have to worry, because we are protected. Jesus talks about being prepared a few times in the Bible. We never know when we will meet Jesus, but no matter when that is, if it s in two seconds from now, or 1 years from now, we need to be ready. Just like you wouldn t want to go on a hike without all the proper equipment, we don t want to meet Jesus with without being prepared. We want to be living the life He asked us to live. We want to obeying our parents, helping others, reading our Bibles, and asking for forgiveness when we mess up. Share how you are preparing to meet Jesus... Closing Prayer -

It just takes planning and practice and these fun coloring and activity pages from Ready Kids will help. Electricity lights up our world! Are You READY! Think of all the ways we rely on electricity: keeping food fresh, cooking meals, and getting information through the internet or TV. It keeps us warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and connected with each other year round. Oftentimes, we use electricity to play and have fun! Are you and your family ready if disaster strikes and your home is without power? How would we see at night without power? TM Help your family build an emergency kit! Collect these items and keep them together in a safe place that you can find easily. Make sure you have enough supplies to last for at least three days. Emergency Supplies List 3-day supply of non-perishable food (dried fruit, canned tuna fish, peanut butter, etc.) Can opener First aid kit Sleeping bag or warm blanket for everyone in your family Change of clothes to last 3 days, including sturdy shoes; consider the weather where you live Matches in a waterproof container (let a grown up handle these) Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap Paper plates, plastic cups and utensils, paper towels Water at least a gallon per person, per day Battery-powered or hand-cranked radio with extra batteries Flashlights with extra batteries Cell phone with charger, extra battery and solar charger Whistle to signal for help Local maps Pet supplies Baby supplies Books, games or puzzles A favorite stuffed animal or blanket Remember, traffic lights will not work!
