The River Dart meanders through the wooded parkland which supports diverse habitats and wildlife. It is also protected as one of Dartmoor s Special Areas of Conservation. From the magical colours of spring to the reds and golds of autumn, you can experience the constantly changing landscape first hand at our award-winning touring and camping site. We treasure this natural environment and are proud to generate our own, ecologically sound, hydroelectric power using the flow of the river - making us self-sufficient 9 months of the year. You can spend a day discovering hidden beaches, coves and lighthouses, or why not enjoy an afternoon surfing at Bigbury or Bantham. 5 The River Dart Experience At River Dart Country Park we offer a unique and unforgettable holiday experience set within 90-acres of wonderful woods, beautiful lakes and breathtaking parkland. Children can rough-and-tumble over space nets, swing through trees on jungle ropes, play tennis, splash about in our outdoor heated pool and enjoy our games room with pool tables and amusements. Toddlers aren t left out either with our Toddlers Beach, paddling pool and Lilliput, just perfect for tiny explorers. You can visit for the day, stay on our multi-award winning touring site, in one of our self-catering properties or even in our luxurious en-suite rooms in Holne Park House. For the adventurous there is Dare Devils on the park and full day activities off the park with CRS Adventures Ltd. - turn the page for more details. Come and enjoy quality locally sourced food and drink in The Old Sawmill. Refurbished and with a new catering team for 2009, we are pleased to offer evening entertainment, in high season, alongside tasty home cooked food. At the River Dart Country Park we are keen to keep our environment clean and green. We are now generating our own electricity making us self-sufficient 9 months of the year, saving over 260 tonnes of carbon per annum. Our hydroelectric turbine, which uses water from the river, is the first of its kind in the UK and available for all to see! 7 Dare Devils For the thrill seeker in all of us. Dare Devils are instructor supervised adventure activities. Extra on-park excitement and fun in a safe environment. Go on - we dare you! Activities are operated by CRS Adventures at a small extra charge to cover the cost of the supervision. Dare Devil Tokens can be purchased on the day from CRS Adventures Reception. 1 token = 1, any unused tokens can be refunded. Indoor Climbing and Bouldering Wall - The ultimate experience for any budding climber square metres of safe modern undercover fun. Children under 8 to be supervised by an adult. (3 tokens per day). Canoeing - Explore the lake in our Red Indian type canoes. Safety equipment provided for 30 minutes of wet fun. (7 tokens per boat and equipment for up to 3 persons). High Ropes Course - A fun and exciting tree top challenge. With 14 elements that test your nerve and confidence. Takes about 45 minutes to complete. All safety equipment and training provided. (9 tokens per go). Mega Zip Wire (New & improved for 2009) You can t resist this! Harness up and whizz down an 80m long zip wire, over the lake! Starts from a 15m tree top platform. Enjoy rock climbing and abseiling on and around Dartmoor, a day in an open boat canoe on the beautiful Dart Estuary or a day caving in Pridhamsleigh, one of our local caves. Led by fully qualified and experienced instructors, these day long experiences are for any member of the family aged 8 years or over. Children can take part unaccompanied by parents or feel free to join in and make a great family day out! Kids are awarded a certificate for successfully completing the day. 10 Where to stay Camping & Within our 90 acre parkland setting we have a choice of accommodation - luxury bed and breakfast in Holne Park house, self catering in Fernlea or Cedars or bring your own place to stay - choose a pitch on our multi-award winning touring and camping site! No matter what type of accommodation you choose for your 2009 holiday at the River Dart Country Park we guarantee you a holiday to remember and memories to treasure forever. To further improve your holiday experience with us we have an open policy of not allowing stag parties, large groups of under twenty fives or loud music after 11pm, all of which ensures that your stay will be a tranquil one. Occasionally we welcome properly supervised school parties outside the high season. The only exception to this is our long standing and very popular weekend booking with the Harley Davidson Riders club (12-13 June) - there will be lots of live music and expensive motorbikes to admire. River Dart Country Park is a lush landscape of woods and parkland and what better way to experience this than by camping or bringing your own motorhome or caravan. Spending nights under canvas enjoying a little star gazing and cooking in the great outdoors is what camping is all about. 11 Amenity block Pool closed Saturdays Touring Our award-winning camping and touring site has generous, neat, individually marked and numbered pitches with an excellent range of amenities to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. All pitch areas served by access roads with nearby water, recycling and rubbish points. Electric hook-up points available on many grass and all hard standing pitches. Limited availability for hard standing pitches. Book early to avoid disappointment. (max of 2 dogs) There are plenty of activities to keep you entertained all day - all guests have free entry to River Dart Adventures and we also have activities for the children including face painting and pottery. Also, our variety of evening entertainment in high season in the Old Sawmill is sure to be fun for the whole family. Note. Pitch numbers are not guaranteed - all guests must check in at reception prior to pitching. We are a pet friendly park, but please note dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and exercised off the campsite in designated walking areas: owners are required to clean up after them in all areas at all times. 12 Self-Catering and Bed & Breakfast Holne Park House is our premier wedding and conference venue with magnificently restored reception rooms and nine bedroom suites. We are pleased to be able to offer these luxurious bedrooms on a Bed and Breakfast basis. The rooms are available for a minimum of two nights stay, advanced booking is necessary. The majority of our impressive rooms face south with wonderful views over the lawns and park. There are three family suites with second integral bedrooms for children and four bedrooms with interconnecting doors to make two additional family suites. All rooms are en-suite, furnished to the highest standard and come with TV and tea and coffee making facilities. A full English breakfast is included in the price and is served in the Old Sawmill café / bar. There are no self-catering facilities in Holne Park House. All bedrooms are on the first and second floor and accessed by stairs only. Self Catering - home from home Our hugely popular self-catering properties are located within the Park and guests have free use of park facilities and access to River Dart Adventures. All properties are centrally heated and comfortably furnished and include a fully fitted kitchen: fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and iron. 14 How to book Booking your holiday is easy; simply refer to our tariff charts below and calculate the price of your holiday. Camping and Touring is based on a price per night per pitch for two people, the tariff also shows you the cost for additional people and pets. Self Catering prices are prices per week for the property. The Bed and Breakfast tariff shows the price for the room per night. Whilst we endeavour to meet requests for particular pitches we cannot guarantee them. We reserve the right to reallocate any pitch not occupied by 9am on the day following its booking. Young people under eighteen years old must be accompanied by parents or guardians. Any visitors to residents will be admitted only on payment of the day visitor fee. Checking in: Please check-in at Reception between noon and 9pm on day of arrival and vacate pitches by 11am on day of departure. Admittance to the campsite is not possible until check-in has been completed. If arriving after 5pm in low season please telephone to make arrival arrangements. Admittance to the campsite is not possible after 9pm. Parking: Only one car with caravan, tent or trailer tent or one motorhome is included per pitch. Additional vehicles must be parked in the car park unless exceptional permission is granted by the site warden, in which case a charge of 3 per night per vehicle is payable. Vehicles are not allowed access to the camping area between 11pm and 8am; if you return after this time please leave your vehicle in the car park and walk to your pitch. Health and Safety: You re welcome to erect a gazebo, but it must be securely anchored to the ground and at least 3 metres from the nearest tent, awning or caravan. Campfires, windbreaks linking units and clothes lines are not allowed for safety reasons. However, gas or charcoal barbecues are permitted provided they are raised off the ground. No wood fires please. Electrical equipment must comply with safety regulations for connection to the site supply. 15 Terms and Conditions. By placing a booking with us you are confirming that you and all members of your party (if applicable) have read, understood and accepted our tariffs, terms and conditions. Confirmation will be sent by unless requested by post. On booking full payment will be required. You will receive confirmation within seven working days: please check your details and if any are incorrect contact us immediately by telephone. Bookings are not transferable and in the event of cancellation, late arrival or early departure no refunds will be given: we strongly recommend independent insurance cover to limit your exposure in such cases. While we endeavour to give people the pitches that they request we cannot always guarantee this. The swimming pool is open Sunday to Friday from 23rd May until 6th September inclusive. Please note that the pool will not be open on Saturdays. We reserve the right to remove facilities at short notice. Hardball games are not allowed on the campsite. All charges include VAT at the prevailing rate. We reserve the right to terminate the visit of any person whose conduct is deemed detrimental to other visitors. Please observe the 10mph speed limit and note that all drivers must be licensed and have legally adequate insurance cover. Please respect your fellow guests by keeping noise to a minimum after 11pm and leaving all facilities as you would wish to find them. Any damages will be charged at cost.
